The torture Sam experienced at the hands of the British Men of Letters has deeper repercussions than Dean realized. Set after Ep 12.4 (American Nightmare). Warning for mention (non-graphic) of sexual abuse - so rated M just to be really safe. Brotherly care, not slash.

Mom is back, and she and Dean are so much alike. Where does that leave Sam? My take off of a scene in 12.03 (The Foundry), slightly AU.

Sam is trying to hard to care for everyone within his orbit, but the mantle of leader is a heavy, weary one. Can Mary and Dean be there when he needs affirmation and care the most? Spoilers through Ep 14.5.

"Let me look at that bullet wound," is the first thing out of Dean Winchester's mouth when he crosses the threshold. Season 10, Episode 18. Sam and Dean find Charlie at the cabin. Dean, despite his guilt, can't let her bullet wound go without proper care.

Dean's POV during Sammy's first vision, when all he knows is that Sam is in pain and not responding to him.

With every blink of his eyes, he flashes back to a different scene. A different day, a different problem, a different Sam. But the same feeling of helplessness, that same cold fear choking his airways as he watches those hazel eyes roll back, unseeing. A head injury for Sam means panic and flashbacks for Dean. Takes place post Season 4/5.

He makes it to ten stitches pulled before Sam's sudden silence snaps him out of his reverie. It's a mercy to the kid, honestly, to pass out, but then Dean looks up and sees Sam's eyes roll all the way back in his head, and his heart nearly stops. Immediately, Dean tries to put his focus on pushing down the memories.

But Dean's eyes shoot open and lock on Bobby's. He's giving him a look for violating the unspoken rule that now has to be spoken. "Help him." And Sam does look bad. In the light, Bobby can see the pallor to his skin and the nasty bruising around his temple that suggests a head injury, in addition to the blood that seems to be all over him. But something stops him from moving.S06e12

In the grand scheme of things, it shouldn't matter how the kid died. The boys have a kidnapped reaper on their hands, plus Tessa showing up and trying to stick her hands into the whole mess. But the moment he hears it was asthma, Dean is fighting the flashbacks. Or, Sam's asthma rears its ugly head for the first time in years. Set in Season 4.

"Sammy," Dean whispers. "Tell me you weren't doing what I think you were." He tucks the gun into his waistband and grabs Sam by the shoulders, trying to meet his eyes. "I'm sorry," Sam says again, tears falling freely now. "I should have let you do it, but I can't take it anymore. I'm not strong enough." Yet another voicemail fix-it. TW for suicide attempt (no actual injury).

Dean's POV of Sam's lamp cord strangulation incident in S01e09, "Home." His thoughts turn to molasses as he sees Sam's eyes are shut, his features lax. He's not struggling with the cord anymore, not gasping for breath. It's then that Dean drops to his knees and shields his face – whether from the light or from the sight of his brother, he couldn't be sure.

Wendigo hunts were never fun at the best of times, let alone in the mountains in the dead of winter. Especially when your genius brother gets his ass knocked out in the snow and is hypothermic before you even come to his rescue.

Sam says they need to rest. Dean feels they need to work. Eventually, they don't have a choice. Set between "Paper Moon" and "Fan Fiction".

My own version of what happens when they get back to the bunker after 11x10 The Devil in the Details. Sam deals with the emotional fallout of the episode. Dean helps him through.

After Jess’ death, Sam suffers from nightmares. A nasty one leads to a panic attack.
