Because I think people are somewhat curious... I'll be nice and post select excerpts from a questionnaire I did about fanfiction writing. 2.) Fabulous, and what got you into fanfiction to begin with? That horrid little thing in late middle school and high school that we call Writer's Block. I say I just didn't have the skills to articulate my original works at that point. Poetry is not a consideration for me. 3.) I see. So what kind of fanfiction do you like to write? In terms of what? Genres? I seem to be able to do any genre, except for angst and hard-core Stephen King worthy horror. But I'm okay, with that, actually. 4.) Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the aspects of writing you struggle most with? 9.) Name your OTPs or most frequently written pairings/characters and explain what it is about them that you love to write. Oh, dear. Well isn't this going to be a tad bit sticky? Well... I suppose the first OTP for me that I ever wrote and thought of even is SesshomaruxKagome. I remember when Inuyasha was made into an anime, that series was what got me started with manga, too. And back when the manga first started coming to America and the fanfiction got started, it was all InuyashaxKagome. Inuyasha who's still in love with Kikyou-- Kagome's previous incarnation. This doesn't mean he loves Kagome, they're different people. So I thought she'd do well with the Demon Lord that doesn't hate humans, after all. I guess my second is LinxMai from Ghost Hunt. What's all the hype about NaruxMai? You know, Fuyumi Ono-sensei never did pair them together in the novels-- so really, what's all the damn hype of them being a couple? Naru's not the type of person to actually have a relationship, I think, and I don't think he'd know what to do on a date if a one-by-ten piece of wood smacked him dead center of the forehead. If LinxMai makes no sense, then neither does NaruxMai. But LinxMai... I think it's ironic and that it would work. Lin hates the Japanese, as a people. He doesn't hate Mai, however. I think he genuinely cares for her. Besides, I thought when I first started Ghost Hunt that they'd make a good and interesting couple. I've long since stopped trying to figure out how my mind works and how my plot bunny works. It's unproductive. Trust me. Third, believe it or not I really like Byakuya Kuchiki and Rukia Kuchiki. I mean, why not? They're not related by blood.
First and foremost, I'm a descriptive writer. You can see it in my writings. After that, dialogue. Or maybe dialogue comes first? Either way. After that, I'm an anal writer. My plot had better be solid or I'll scrap it and start again. 12.) Do you have trouble taking criticism? Or worse yet, do you have the dreaded bloated ego? No, I don't have trouble taking criticism. I practically beg for it. You can see that in my chapters-- I want to know the good, the bad, the ugly. And then I want to know what you the reviewer thinks I can do to make it better. Bloated ego? What bloated ego? Who in the world has a bloated ego and begs for criticism? I should mention that if your favorite pairings being the only change you want to see, I will likely ignore you. Pairings are subjective and just because you don't agree, does not give you the right to suggest that your OTP will make the story better, somehow. This depends on where I am. If I'm at school, then it's easy to ignore the morons in my class and just start writing. If I'm at home, then usually I put the winamp on and let the playlist do its thing. If I'm trying to write something that's particularly creepy, then I'll put on music geared for that specific purpose. Halloween music can have dual purposes. XD Again, I don't mind quiet, but I'll usually just end up putting on music at some point. My-good-for-being-an-everlasting-pain-in-my-backside-plot-bunny. Something I've experienced; something I've seen, hell, being tired can inspire me. Talking to people online, via email, and over coffee; in the break room at work, you name it. ...No, my muse(s) don't leave me alone. Why do you ask? That should answer most questions that you guys have about me. Please do not ask me to update soon. I update when I can. That probably isn't going to be every month. Please be patient with me. You know the old adage: good things come to those who wait. I'm a stickler for proper spelling in my writings. Grammar and my misuse of, I leave to my wonderful beta-reader TitianWren, seeing as she's the expert. Proper spelling... I absolutely hate slang for proper words. One such example all right vs. alright. I'm sorry, but alright just looks uncouth. I really do have a LiveJournal account. Click either Aki's Journal or the homepage link to get to it. Pleas note that my journal is Friends Only. Leave a message on the Friend's Only Post to be added to my friends list. I have a DeadJournal account, too. I don't update it much anymore and it's most assuredly friends only, but if you want to see, Aeynera's DeadJournal If you want me to add you to my LiveJournal account, you may also send me a private message me or email me. Oh, and just so y'all know: I never claimed sanity. DO NOT e-mail, review, or message me to tell me how crazy you think I am. You've heard it live. Please do not try to drive me sane. Oh, yes, wait, I love opinions. Please don't hesitate to give me the good, the bad, and the ugly. This does not translate to flame me, especially if you can't be creative about it. Calling me names that I've already heard are not considered creative and there's an extremely good chance I've either already been called that by some miscellaneous person at school or work; or that I've heard/seen it before: therefore, that equals me not amused. Flames are fed to my pet dragons. So again, if you must flame me, be very creative about it. I might even laugh before feeding them to my pets. That about covers it, I think. Questions, comments, anything I didn't cover that tickles you, message me or e-mail me. As of late, my anime and manga list is far too numerous to continue listing in my profile. So instead, I did myself a favor and created Ghost_Doctor_Aki's anime-manga list. Click the link if you're curious to know what I've seen/read, am reading/watching, or what I plan to read/watch. With regards to beta-reading-- I'm quite choosy. Just an FYI. Fics that I absolutely recommend: Sweet Dreams I'm not a Naru/Mai fan, but this one is an awesome Ghost Hunt fic. Way too good to pass up! Like odd/crack pairings? Like good crossovers? Spirited is a good bet! Aishoka-chan says it best: Love isn't a bed of roses. Check out Smitten Apart! I'm not much of a Naru/Mai fan like I said earlier, but these one-shots make me smile! Lessons in Life, for your reading pleasures. Bleach fan are you? Don't want something heavy on romance or angst? Well... check out Birthday Hassle for an amusing look at what could be a birthday ritual. For InuYasha fans I suggest Rising Sun, by my beta-reader herself. XD Back to Ghost Hunt we go!
