UPDATE FOR SLEEPY HOLLOW (1/10/16)
Oy. Right before Thanksgiving, my father was taken to the hospital and was not expected to survive. Diabetes, kidney failure, congestive heart failure...not a good mix. I honestly do not know how he pulled through, but after a week in critical care, he was home and doing well. Two weeks later, my mother-in-law passed away. She was ill and it was expected, but difficult to handle nonetheless. Almost three weeks later, my father ended up in critical care, again. My head has not been in the fiction writing game these last few weeks. I have not been able to give my story the attention I think it deserves, the depth I try to give it. I'm still working on it, but it's taking me a while to get the words out. Thank you to all of you that have been reading 'Bleak'. Hopefully I will be back to posting soon. -jacque
The Appreciative Author
Hello! Thank you for stopping by! I am very passionate about writing and love that I can connect with so many people who share my interests. I truly appreciate everyone who reads, reviews and/or PMs me. I offer the following, personal and not so much fun, to show that appreciation for the time y’all take out of your busy days to read the things my fingers put…well, “on paper”. I have not abandoned my fics (I actually thought I’d have a few more thrown out there by now, dangnabit.) but, there is good reason they are so slow in coming.
In 2008, my father battled an infection in his leg. Long story short, doctor’s appointments three times a week for nearly four months, many, many bags of antibiotics, a loss of forty-five pounds and three surgeries later, Dad pulled through. The damage to his legs, as well as his diabetes, has caused even the most minor of scratches to that leg to take forever in healing.
In October 2012, Dad developed a blister on the bottom of his foot (of that same leg) and it did not heal. In May, the blistered area became infected. For three months, he had a hole that went right to the heel bone. More appointments, more antibiotics…Nothing helped. In August, Dad had to have his foot and a good portion of his calf amputated.
So in the last few months, my time has been divided among taking care of my children and household, helping Mom with things around my parents’ house and taking Dad to his appointments. I think I have met ninety percent of the doctors and nurses at the hospital!! Dad received his prosthetic leg a few weeks ago and is currently working through physical therapy. I am very happy to say that he is doing well, exceeding everyone’s expectations for recovery.
With everything going smoothly (fingers’ crossed that continues) I will hopefully regain a normal (for me) routine and get these little voyages back on track! Again, thank you to all who have visited my fics! -jacque
