Author has written 1 story for Harry Potter. I am jdboss1 My favourite genres are Harry Potter I am dyslexic and I have the programme speechify read for me Extracts below Of scenes From other authorsRegarding wizarding economy I view it as: 1. The goblins are harsh in protecting the value of the currency. So, any attempts to import gold, silver, or bronze for the use of currency could lead to a war. 2. The 5 pound per galleon conversion can work if you explain that the goblins/ministry heavily limit how much can be converted per year. They might put a cap of 50 galleons/225 pounds per year. And it can be explained why it’s so low is because they don’t want muggleborns to come to the wizarding world and be dirt poor/unable to buy school supplies. 5 pounds per galleon they think is affordable enough to the average muggle job. 3. Gold is scarce. Silver and bronze is more common. Most of the gold is owned by older families who spent centuries building their wealth. The rare exception being inventors, athletes, or celebrities who get rich. As such, they tend to not spend their money wantonly. Those that do end up like the Gaunt or Weasley families. 4. Because there’s so little really needed to live a life in the wizarding world the cost of things is high. The economy is likely run by artisans/merchants. People specialized in enchanting objects, creating potions, selling potions ingredients, bookstores, etc. The average wizard is lazy and doesn’t take the time to learn the spell or potion they need for a given situation so if they have the gold they spend it on an enchanted item or potion made by an expert. If you aren’t careful you can bankrupt yourself quickly. 5. That being said, and from examples in canon, 1,000 galleons is the equivalent of a business loan in the muggle world. In canon we only know the cost of a few things. The omnioculars Harry bought at the World Cup, his wand, the grand prizes of the triwizard cup and Daily Prophet lottery, Dobby’s salary, and the reward for capturing Harry in DH. It’s not millions of galleons like some fics have. A few dozen galleons is a lot of money in the wizarding world. -- -- This oversight seems to overlook the established laws of succession in Westeros. Jon's claim is further weakened by his status as a Stark bastard, lacking any formal recognition or legitimization by his supposed father, Rhaegar. Therefore, the true line of succession, as per the laws of the land, would place Viserys Targaryen (Viserys III) next in line. Upon his demise, the crown should logically pass to the eldest Baratheon brother, making Stannis Baratheon the rightful ruler following King Robert's death, considering the traditional exclusion of female heirs in succession. |
