Hello folks, my name's Zarius. I'm a fan of many things, but mostly of the little things. The shows, comics, and characters we take for granted in this day and age. From former t.v giants to underdog comic book runs, to the shows very few have heard of, I aim to give as many of them as loud a voice as possible, and in doing so maybe inspire more to start contributing their own voice.
"The Armada's Comin' (Nod Yer Head): Good god is this awful. I don't know what I was thinking putting this one together, MIB II was out at the time and I was somewhat still convinced Will Smith was'nt a cheesy-as-hell rapper. I also wrote this under the impression Transformers: Armada would be a monumental return to form for the franchise. The futile dreams of youth eh?
"Hearing You": One of my earliest fanfics, this was written during the infancy of the now gigantic Beast Boy/Raven 'shipping fandom and suprisingly, despite my great love for that pairing, is more a straight friendship and comfort story. Maybe I thought it was too easy to follow the pack in this particular instance. I have been thinking of rewriting it (again), but perhaps it's best to leave it as it is.
The Eminem Song Parodies: Mainly ill-thought out and written at a time where I was listening to way too much rap. I'm not very proud of these ones, but at the time I figured Helga Pataki was the right sort of character that could "fit" Marshall's angsty lyrics and sense of disillusion.
"Nailing Spike": An epilouge of sorts to Power Rangers Super Samurai. Strangely, while it remains one of my least favourite seasons, it prompted me to write my first PR fanfiction project ever.
"The Bulk of My Samsara": Another story I wrote based off a short film starring some MMPR alumni called 'A Vice For Killing'. You can find it on Youtube if you look around
"The Megaforce Trilogy": Adaptations of the beginning, middle, and end of Power Rangers Megaforce/Super Megaforce. Final entry coming soon
"Power Rangers Turbo Revisited": A series of books depicting how I would have liked the Turbo season of Power Rangers to have gone.
In Development Hell:
"Slide Steps: A Power Rangers RPM crossover with cult 90s series SLIDERS.
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (Fan-Verse)
"We Are Shadows": This is the adapation of a fanfilm script I've been working on for the better part of a year now, and is meant to be yet another reinterpretation of the mythos. I have a sequel of sorts in mind for this, but it's been such pain-staking work that I doubt you'll see an immediate follow-up for quite a while.
Ten novellas based on the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series from the 80s. The stories take place after the 2009 movie "Turtles Forever", and while they are love letters to the classic 1987 animated series, they are not content to just keep the status quoe the way it is. The stories started out as fan scripts for a potential series of audio adventures, with novelizations intending to follow the scripts, but feedback from fans on the Technodrome forums convinced me to write them as books first ahead of the scripts. These days I don't know if I'll ever get back to the script format.
Because they follow their own specifc continuity and relationships and events build gradually over the course of the stories, you must read them all in this order:
1. "So Long, No Thanks For All The Fish"
2."My Seer, My Secretary"
3. "Raphael Counts 'Em All"
4. "The Lotus and The Sun"
5. "Mutants and Miracles"
6. "The Flies That Came To Dinner"
7. "The Dreggs of Society"
8. "A Radical Portrait of Dimension X"
9. "The Well-Mannered Way"
10. "How It All Began"
..That said, each story can be enjoyed independently.
Short stories based off the obscure 80s animated classic
"How The Better Half Works": A small little epilogue to the two-parter "The Better Half", a story which tried to finally "resolve" the will they/won't they dynamic between Crystal Kane and Ace McCloud without actually resolving it. As far as I'm concerned, the two became a couple after that episode and this fic helps bring the two more at ease with each other.
"The Mightiest Boulder": An old-school Centurions throwback story with Doc Terror causing havoc as usual.
"Second Star To the Right": Likewise, another old-school Centurions adventure you might see on a Saturday morning, although there is wiggle room for a breif hint of another favorite pairing of mine from this show, Jake and Amber.
I've noticed few stories based off of the MC2 universe and Peter and Mary Jane's daughter, so I figured I would remedy that. I consider the MC2 Universe to be the "real" continuity, given that is the universe which has the most accomplished version of Peter Parker (married, retired, and a proud parent)
"The Parker Cliche": Written in 2012 when word of Dan Slott's "Superior Spider-Man" spread. I've had to do some tweeking on it since then, but it's one of my most popular fanfics to date.
"Delicate Strings": Another 'reaction' fic to Dan putting Mayday through a tough ordeal in Spider-Verse. Also gives me a perfect opportunity to write off anything I dislike about Marvel in one go.
It took me a bit to start writing for this show, it's been a favorite of mine since 2010 and it helped me through a difficult period in my life. Series Three has provided much lip-service to fandom so I figured I'd pay Moffat and Gatiss (and Thompson, we must not forget Thompson, everyone else tends to do) back in kind
"Turn to Steam": I'm a huge Sherlolly fan and I fell in love with Anderson's theory at the begining of "The Empty Hearse" for obvious reasons pertaining to that. I figured I'd write a fic under assumption that theory was exactly how Sherlock survived. I tweeked the story a good few times after publishing on advise from a reviwer.
"The Bends In The River": Published under its original title of "Patterns of Disruption", this was a reaction to "The Sign of Three" and the rather odd portrayal of Molly in the episode. It was so jarring going from the wonderful relationship building in the previous story to this heart-wrenching display of a woman clearly hitched to a dense replacement goldfish she was clearly keeping around for the physical interaction just as Mrs. Hudson had kept her husband for. I figured I'd try to conjure up an excuse for Molly's behavior and focus on all the positive aspects she contributed to the episode as well as create an alternative reason for Sherlock to consume as much drink as he amusingly did in the episode.
"Lead Me Through the Valleys": This one is a big favorite with people for some reason, of all the Sherlock fics I've written, it has the highest amount of favorites. Based off of Sherlock's stint in hospital during "His Last Vow". I often wondered what Molly thought of Sherlock using Janine the way he did and how she'd best approach the situation, where as I wanted to get into Sherlock's head after his mind palace had Molly guide him through the process of being shot and how it helped keep him alive
"The Glass Supper": A small peice based off the "Molly's Bedroom" theory that got me and some other fans increasingly curious as to what is really going on between Sherlock and Molly at this stage of the game. Only Moffat and company know for sure.
"The Three Words"- Book One of hopefully a two-part rewrite of how I felt "The Final Problem" should have gone, based off "The Adventure of the Three Garidebbs"
The show may not be as good as it used to be, but Ive found writing fics about them a fairly easy pastime the last couple of years. My favorite couples to write for are Lisa/Ralph Wiggum and Bart/Laura Powers, but I have plenty of time for other characters like Sideshow Bob and Edna.
"A Slip Through The Shade": The first of my Lisa/Ralph fics and a bit of a ramble about the state of the comic book industry.
"The Simplicity Of Second Nature": A fic written in tribute to Edna Krabappel's voice actress which addresses a nagging plot detail from a classic Simpsons episode.
"The Wax Crayon": Some Lisa/Ralph fluff based on losing weight.
"Sideshow's Super Megafarce": Written as a commentary on the handling and reception of the 2011-2014 Power Rangers seasons helmed by Johnathan Tzachor
"Renew Your LOLS": A story focusing mainly on the build-up to a reunion with Krusty and how Bart and Lisa cope with their respective families during a period of crisis.
''Simp Sums'' Just another bit of Lisa/Ralph fluff and based on my own confoundedness when it comes to mathematics
Another 80s classic. I've had a lot of fun revisiting the racing series of the show, trying to plug the gaps between the two eras, and even add a few special touches and ellaborate on what I think happened at the end of the racing era too. One story even has a inter-quel written by another FF.net author, my good friend Miratete
Read Them In This Order:
"Land of Great Thirst": A small piece revealing where Hondo went to.
"Her Fragile Aura": A Gloria Baker/Buddy Hawkes story based off their seconds long exchange in an episode of the racing series.
"No Finer Weapon": A story that tries to make a bit more sense of Vanessa Warfield's strange decisions in the final episode of the racing series...but mainly written as a retaliation of sorts to all the Brad/Vanessa fanfics on the 'net that end in misery. These two deserve at least one fic that sends them off into the sunset. Shows of the 80s are designed to leave you with a smile on your face after all.
"The Perfect Blend": A series of phone calls between Gloria Baker, Vanessa Warfield, and Scott Trakker. A tie in to Miratete's story "Runaways"
"Almost Unreal": A short exchange featuring Vanessa and Cliff Dagger. Miratete helped suggest some of the plot.
"A Barely Shaken Serving": The first of the Vanessa/T-Bob crack pairing fics, written by someone with a love of people who live to conjur up bad food.
"Leaning on the Walls of Jericho": An older Scott meets up with T-Bob, who has new orders but still has the same old attitudes
"The Well of Thorns": Gloria loses it, and Dusty is there to pick up the pieces
"The Tiniest Wings of a Butterfly": Gloria gets it together and makes a big decision
"The Little That Remains" Short piece with Matt and Scott as they are faced with the resurfacing of V.E.N.O.M
