Update for October 30th, 2024

Y'all I JUST finished writing Year 6/Goblet of Fire! Holy cow is this thing long! The story is now 180 chapters, 567,000 words and 1452 pages long; with 167,000 of that coming from Year 6 alone! It's forty-three chapters, my dudes! That's 10 months worth of content!

I just... you have no idea how big this is for me. I've been at this for 6-1/2 years, and (SPOILER ALERT!) Year 6 was originally gonna be my ending point. I don't have much of a map for my final segment, but it's gonna be so much fun writing this story to completion.

What a journey, y'all. What a journey, indeed!

Update for October 18th, 2023

With how ridiculous FFN's bugs have become, it's worth giving a reminder that I also post my stuff on AO3. I don't plan on abandoning this site since most of my readers are here, it's just disheartening to not have had any story stats since Sep 15th and now the site doesn't even give me email notifications.

Currently working on chapter 150 for TLS, and by the time the chapter ends I should be at 450,000 words. Year 6 is very magical and slice of life compared to Years 4 & 5. Couple that with the canon events, it's resulted in this year having tons of chapters with a high word count. I can see this easily reaching 500,000 words before the school year is done. With all of this new content, I'd estimate the story is maybe... 80-85% done? (I admit, the comparable math between these updates is basically non-existent.) Never-the-less, I see the ending on the horizon, and will enjoy the journey getting there.

Update for July 28th, 2022

I can't believe I used to think 150,000 words was "halfway". The Laughing Slytherin is now over 300,000 words, nearly 800 pages, and like... 70% done? Geez, I hope so!

If anyone here knows Moroccan phrases/slang, please reach out. I need help with a chapter that will be posted next summer. Thanks!

Update for May 3rd, 2021

I've changed my username from WhiteDragonWarrior to PhaedraZev. The overall reasons are that WDW is based on my first story on here, way back from my high school years. Turning thirty this year, I want to move on from such an old moniker. Secondly, on my AO3 account I go by the name PhaedraZev, and feel that both fanfiction accounts ought to go by the same name to avoid confusion.

Update for April 8th, 2021

Yesterday the Harry Potter story I've been working on reached a major milestone of 200,000 words. I started writing this thing on April 17th, 2018 so I am pumped and have decided to start publishing! As it stands, I'm working on chapter 72 and have written 519 pages worth. If I wait until I finish this story it will take another two years to post. So, fuck it, let's get this thing started!

Updates for Feb 28th, 2020

In the Garden of Ash: It's been a long while since I've updated ITGOA. Truthfully, while struggling with writers block for that story I started an exercise of writing out a joke scene for a Harry Potter idea. That scene then grew to another, then another; while I worked on ITGOA less and less. It's been almost two years since I started that little side-activity. It's now grown to over 148,000 words and is halfway done. I hope to return to ITGOA eventually, but I feel driven to writing out this other story entirely before posting it and putting my energy back into ITGOA. Sorry for this hiatus, but I hope it will be worth it once this other story is complete.

Magic! The Genetic Opera: Earlier this year this story was nominated for the Headline Awards, a fan-based contest by fans of Anthony Head, and I'm happy to say that it won both Best Crossover and Fan Favourite, Other (as Giles and Uther naturally have their own categories). I'm grateful to everyone that voted for this story. It was a lot of fun to write!
