Greetings & Salutations!
It's story time!
Once upon a time, there was a crazed artist/writer/animator/cartoonist named Robert A. Stott. He was a rather jovial sort, who dreamed of writing and drawing the great American Graphics Novel... (Hell, ANY novel… it doesn’t have to be just graphics…)
Until then, he FanFics...
Howdy folks! ‘Just your average artist and writer here, plunking name and pen to paper, confuser, and what not. Once upon a time, I used to run the annual Gilded Screaming Meowth Awards for the Best Team Rocket FanFic Stories on my old TEAM ROCKET’S HIDEOUT on DEJACOM site... until Deja went bust that is... and got eaten by Google… ah well...
Currently I run a set of YUKU boards (ne: EZBoards), AnimeMangaWorld! – a BBS for over 80 Anime and Manga series, and SIGGIE'S – a testing board for YUKU members to tweak the way they present themselves without messing up other boards with out-of-control icons and graphics. I also have recently been authorized and taken over command of the classic old fan-board TRHQ2, which I rebuilt and restored after someone hacked it and it had a server failure. In 2010 it celebrated its 10th anniversary! (Woo hoo!) Otherwise, I am generally a friendly, if not strange sort. I don’t hit, hurt or bite, and I have had all my shots. I also am Lady Shadowcat's (Shadsie here on FFN) fiancé to boot! Yowzaa!
Now, to answer the question noted by a couple of reviewers -
1. Have you ever written professionally? - Answer - Yes, I have written professionally as a copywriter in advertising. My father and I had an ad agency for many years. He had been a copywriter for nearly 50 years, so its not surprising that some of that wore off on me. I've also had my hand in editing and producing newsletters, and my sister and I wrote a series of scripts in the 1980s for the old G1 TRANSFORMERS animated series which, unfortunately, were not produced due to the series being cancelled. That, of course, did not stop me from trying again with another set for Beast Wars in the 1990s, which also failed. Having the writing bug built into my genes does come in handy. Proper story telling sometimes takes proper reference materials. A well executed story requires a well planned synopsis, even if it's done on the fly like most of my stuff is.
2. What is with all those copyright statements at the end of your stories? – An offshoot of knowing the copyright laws and how to use them (Yay, advertising publications!) I’m simply giving proper credit where credit is due. And as for the ‘used with permission’ tag, those particular characters or storylines that are mentioned with that have had proper permission granted. It falls under three categories. In some FanFics, if I use a character that A - Did not come from that particular series I'm writing an FanFic on, B - Borrowed story information from another person's story, or C - I am using some of my OWN characters (anything/anyone listed as DMS or Denivan Media Services - that's ME!) gets a to the appropriate owner. As for the 'Used by Permission' tag, I prefer to have it prior to doing the story if the characters is from another fanfiction author - I won't go using their characters without their permission - simple.
So enjoy my stuff! It’s a shame I can't post the artwork that goes with it, but such is life in the big city! ;-)
