Author has written 3 stories for Fire Emblem, Kagerou Days/カゲロウデイズ, and Naruto.
My online name is Hollownerox, I use it for pretty much anything with the exception of my Playstation account (SidewaysR8 for that one); so if you happen to see an account named Hollownerox 98% of the time it will be me. In the thing known as reality I am a Cambodian American, born in America, had a pretty normal middle class family childhood. I am currently a student in a University.
I write for fun, I don't post here out of a need for attention or for some silly quest for internet fame, but because I just like other people reading what I wrote and telling me how to improve myself. Please note this is just a hobby of mine, I like writing for fun and I don't consider myself beholden to a schedule of any sorts unless I feel like constraining myself to one. As a University student I have a lot on my plate, and life can get complicated, so this can (and obviously has) had an effect on my free time to write.
My other hobbies are miniature painting, reading, playing games, and making self-deprecating jokes.
My favorite fictional settings include but are not limited to, Warhammer 40k, Fire Emblem, Nauverse, RWBY, and the Neptunia series.
Favorite genres are Romantic Comedies, Science Fiction, Horror, and Adventure.
I happen to love villains, Dr. Doom is my favorite Marvel character and I am still waiting for the day I can play as the Helghast during single player in a Killzone game.
If you have any immediate questions, concerns, small talk, or want to send me hate mail, feel free to email me at Hollownerox@yahoo.com.
About My Writing StyleMy usual updating schedule is a 4,000 word chapter every week (Eastern Time). If I happen to miss a week due to circumstances I'll post up both the chapter I did not post the previous week, as well as the chapter I was going to release the current week. The dialogue in my stories tend to be, as one reviewer kindly called it, "punchy". This is mainly because that is how my conversations with people in real life sound like; so a lot of my stories have the characters frequently engaging in banter. When I edit my stories I usually have to remove like 70% of the snarking because I remembered that sarcasm doesn't transition well into written form. Grammar is something I am absolutely terrible at, mostly because all those lessons on subject, object, and all that jazz never could stick well into my brain. If I made any grammatical errors feel free to point it out and I will fix it nigh immediately. Spelling. I am usually a good speller, but my mind tends to outpace my actual typing so I might miss a letter or even a whole word. Like I said for grammar please notify me if you notice such errors. Swearing. I am not one of those people who believe Swearing/Sex = Mature Story. Having character swear when that was not part of their original personality is a way of telling whether or not someone is a good writer. I personally only make characters swear if A) That was a canon personality trait. Or B) I am doing it for comedic reason, but only if I have a justifiable reason for that character to suddenly swear.
Just Another Day In the Tactician's Life: SNAFU- Pretty much on indefinate hiatus at the moment, had a lot of trouble figuring out where to take the story, and after multiple rewrites of the same chapter, I decided it's best to leave
Shintaro's Theory of Reality- Basically waiting for the Light Novels to conclude at this point. So consider the first chapter to be a pitch piece rather than an actual story at the moment.
The Roads They Chose- My obligatory Naruto story, very easy for me to write since the story is rather straight forward. I always liked the idea of having Rin survive, but I also happen to love Obito as the leader of Akatsuki. So the story is basically about how much a living Rin and a VERY confused Obito mess up the original plot of Naruto. Now don't kill me for this, but I am also going to give a bunch of screen-time to Danzo. Why? Because I read too many stories where the guy is some one-dimensional cliche villain wanting to become an evil overlord. And there are too few stories willing to admit that Danzo is actually a lot like Naruto, just like Obito, Danzo is another type of person Naruto could become. So expect a lot of character development/Alternate Character Interpretation on that end. *Update* Was on Hiatus due to University work and me choosing to wait until Naruto ended for the full context. Work on the next chapters is moving on slowly but surely, expect an update soon.
How YOU Can Help Influence The Story
I am always open to community ideas, whether it be just by you taking the time to review, or sending me a PM about things you'd think would be interesting. Also if you have any funny ideas for an Omake either PM me or write it up yourself and send it to me; all credit goes to the person who came up with the idea!. Also please point out if I happen to make a person out of character, I sometimes accidentally force my own personality upon characters so it would be a major problem if nobody tells me about it.
Personal Pet Peeves In Regards To FanFictionFix Fics: Seriously people, whether it be fact or fiction, the world does not allow things to go perfectly. Even if you fix one event gone wrong, most likely it will only cause worse things to happen. Peggy Sue Fics: Much the same reason for Fix Fics, though with the added reason that many people tend to make the character an overpowered Mary Sue. In case you haven't noticed yet, I happen to love parodying this. However that doesn't mean I dislike them, quite the opposite since a good one can make for a really interesting story. It's just most people tend to not lean towards the interesting part and are more interested in "fixing" the original story. Angst: Dark and Gritty stories don't automatically give a story depth. Killing a characters family off just to make them more "Badass" is also a no go for me. Once again, not an inherently bad thing (this is coming from a guy who literally owns every Greek Tragedy that currently exists), but I notice that it isn't handled very well in most cases. Tell Not Show: This is kind of self explanatory, but I guess it still needs to be said. While telling obviously comes as part of the package with writing, how you write things can definitely portray the same action or event in potentially dynamic, or potentially boring ways. Shipping Goggles: I am perfectly fine with people shipping. However it crosses the line when an author utterly destroys a characters actual personality just so they can pair up their favorite couple. Classic Example = Ron the Death Eater. Random Crossovers: Crossovers are fun to write, I understand that. But inserting mecha anime elements into a medieval universe just does not work. For example, putting Warhammer (The original not 40k) elements into Fire Emblem is justifiable because both have medieval settings, and both canonically have alternate dimensions in their back-stories. However shoving Transformers into Hogwarts is plain old stupid; unless it is a crack fic, in that case it would still be stupid, but it will be the funny kind of stupid. Once again, not actually a bad thing, just can be mishandled very easily (like almost everything in this list), especially if you're going for a somewhat serious story. Make the Main Character Go Evil: While I certainly have a fondness for villainy, I notice that the bulk majority of these fics don't bother with any real plot. They mostly just make a character go all Villain Sue and beat up all their former friends for inane reasons. If you're having your character go to the dark side, it shouldn't be based completely on contrivances you concocted, if there's enough in-story justification for it then it could work. But in most cases it really doesn't.
Plans For Possible Stories In The FutureA story set in the Blazing Sword/Rekka no Ken storyline. Warhammer 40k story, most likely going to be an alternate character interpretation series most likely revolving around Chaos, Necrons, and Tau.
