Note On Harry Potter Fan Fiction: When I read a HP story I want to read about magic. I don't want to read an author saying that magic is obsolete and mundane technology is superior. I have nothing against those authors, some of the stories are still very good, I'd just prefer to read something MAGICAL. I have yet to read a truly light Harry story that didn't have technology as superior. Which is why I seem to be a fan of Dark!Harry. If you know of a story that is truly magical as well as being well reviewed then I encourage you to send me a PM with the recommendation. Since I'm almost positive no one but me reads my profile I don't really expect any.
My Reviews: It is unlikely I will review unless I have read a chapter at least twice, unless it really caught my attention which is rare. I am getting better at being able to review after one read through. If I do review then it is because I have something to actually say or want a link to the story without having to add it. I hope to never again simply write 'update soon' or a simple 'good story'. Lately my reviews have either questioned what I've read, pointed out inconsistencies, or asked about what is possibly coming in the next chapter, usually as questions about something specific that some could take as suggestions trying to influence the story, I don't intend it that way. I don't generally have a certain route I want a story to take, I make suggestions in the hopes to encourage/inspire and give ideas... hoping an update will come soon with the stimulated creativity. I have, however, gotten better at giving reviews since when I first joined this site. However, I am also left to wonder if I come across as harsh in my reviews. I have written a review or two that has been more criticism as I couldn't specify what I liked, but could what I disliked. So I explore what I disliked and why but only manage a feeble sentence that I did generally like the story, not very believable... This left me wondering if my review would be dismissed as a flame, it isn't and wasn't meant that way. I'm harshly critical in cases but there is no profanity but I suppose in the minority I might have slipped in some cases to slight bashing (If saying their Harry was a crybaby for being overly emotional, in tears a lot and dithering around counts), I thought it was a justified criticism... I have, however, written one flame, I'm not proud of it but at the time I thought the author was taking ideas from another story and claiming them theirs, they never got my review, they have long since stopped fanfiction but I still felt bad when it occurred to me that the ideas were likely theirs and I had just read their story before without remembering it fully.
Genre Preferences: I don't do well with angst. Even when the story is especially good for fanfiction I would struggle to read it because of the angst.
Want to know something else about my fanfiction likes/dislikes/other? Send a PM and I'll think about answering it on my profile or through PM. I won't be answering any personal questions.
