Author has written 1 story for House, M.D..
There are two authors inhabiting this account, which was created to host a single work of fanfiction - though that fic has come to redefine the word "epic" in terms of length, complexity, and sheer irrationality. It is a massive crossover featuring primarily characters from the TV shows House, Torchwood, and Doctor Who (new and classic), but crosses over (or will cross over) heavily with Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, Pirates of the Caribbean, Verbotene Liebe, Labyrinth, Robin Hood (the recent BBC version), Super Smash Brothers (yes...), and to a lesser extent Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Red Dwarf, Harry Potter, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and possibly several others. The structure of the story is such that, aside from the three main shows, it's not necessary to be familiar with the rest of the universes (though it helps).
The two authors went to middle school and high school together, but now live and attend college in different states. In terms of brainstorming, this is probably a good thing, since it's a lot easier to brainstorm over AIM than it is face-to-face (I wonder why that is...?). However, production slows heavily during the semesters, since both have very work-intensive majors. For this reason, chapters are sporadic. The shortest amount of time between chapters being posted was five days, and the longest was about seven months. Chapters range between 8000-19000 words with a few exceptions. Interludes are usually (though not always) a little shorter, and the arc 1 finale was quite a bit longer.
The fic was started in March 2007, and, because it was started before the third season of Doctor Who aired (and naturally, long before the second season of Torchwood and in the middle of the third season of House), it neatly disregards any and all continuity from thereon out and effectively AUs itself. However, it picks up some DW series 4 continuity at the start of arc 2. Because of inserted timeline issues and some ambiguous dialogue, it's mainly left up to the reader to decide how much of series 3 is disregarded. For the record, we personally pretend most of it never happened.
The fic is mainly posted on a livejournal account, with the username randomhouses. New chapters are first posted there, and later posted here. In addition to story content, the livejournal also has several other "features", such as banners for each chapter, a character guide, progress updates, and other bits of information. It is linked to in the "homepage" function above.
