- - I like to take photographs. Mostly I'm interested in the outdoors, and natural things, particularly the sky and clouds. I'm quite often mesmerised by how beautiful the sky can be. It's like a natural and ever changing canvas.
- - I adore music, I mean really really. Music of all kinds (with the exception of hip-hop / rap type stuff - just cannot get my ears into it at all.) Also, for my sins, play guitar and sing a bit (though i'm often too embarrassed to do it in public.) I have a musical crush on the likes of Damien Rice, Elbow, Ben Howard, Angus and Julia Stone, Sigur Ros (mmm), Muse, Vampire Weekend, gosh the list is endless and I do occasionally try to write my own stuff when the feeling washes over me. :-)
- - I'm a creative soul and love nothing more than to get embroiled in a new project. I've tried so many different things. Glass painting, pebble and driftwood art, paper mache and decoupage creations, making knotted wristbands, decorating footwear with sharpies and oooh heaps heaps more for sure. On occasion, I like to drag out a blank canvas to slosh a bit of paint around on for therapy purposes... I decided to paint something for one of the walls in my apartment and you should have seen me when I was finished, I had splashed paint everywhere, rolled in it, got it in my hair and all over my pyjama pants. Messy, but hey that's just me!!
Other than all that, I believe in the simple nutrition of the humble baked spud...In always carrying a spare pair of knickers...In abandoning myself to that helpless, achy belly laughter as often as I can...In allowing my tears their freedom when they need to fall (wherever and whenever that be)...In remembering the good stuff and the good people...In wearing what I want, however unconventional...In smiling at strangers – they might think I’m challenged but then again, it might make their day...In remembering not to rub my eye after chopping chillies...In not being afraid to admit I’m afraid...In buying the biggest and best SuperSoaker in the shop (it pays off)...That the smell of a BBQ is high in calories...In not chasing after ‘why’ when it just does not want to be caught...In wearing bright and outlandish socks – my feet deserve a bit of happiness too...In singing, however badly, the harmony part to every song I hear...In learning when to push myself and when to give myself a break...In being comfortable with my ability to sleep in till an ungodly hour, irrespective of how old I am...In the healing powers of a large sheet of bubble-wrap...In feeding my inner stationery fiend...In collecting pebbles and driftwood along the beach on a blustery day...That natural light is everything...In not taking for granted something that I‘ve always had, for one day, it might break...In giving myself over to random conversations however little sense they make...That we see in colour for a reason - make the most of it...In walking up hills, because when I get to the top - wow - happy endorphins...That I should seize the day (though I’m not quite at the seizing stage yet, probably more like holding its hand)...And on that subject, I also strongly believe in holding hands anywhere and everywhere - tis most yummy!
Well I suppose all that is plenty (if not far too blinking much) about me for now, so i'll finish with a quote from the madly wonderful Tori Amos:
“Some of the most wonderful people are the ones who don't fit into boxes.” - - - Undeniably!
