Important Author Note: EDIT 01/20/2013
By now some of you might be wondering what has caused my inactivity on this site in terms of writing. A lot has changed since I last edited this profile and a lot will continue to change. The simple answer is that life has taken up my time. I find that my priorities to college and my life precede that of the fanfiction world.
Of course I still enjoy reading fanficiton (evidenced by the triple-fold increase of my favorite story section) but writing has simply become a chore. And when writing becomes a chore the final product is neither enjoyable for the reader or the author so I find more efficient if I devote my time to writing after I get into college.
Also, some of my stories will henceforth go into hiatus. Namely: “Her Love Returns” –although it is my first fanfiction and I hold dear to my heart I can’t help but cringe whenever I read it. It jumps the gun in so many aspects, the grammar is appalling and the characters are so out of character I wonder what the heck I was drinking when I first conceived the idea. I wrote the story when I was in the 8th grade…I repeat…the 8th grade. The final year of my middle school career; I am now a senior in high school and the emotional and mental capacity that I now retain is consequently very different from that of a bright-eyed middle schooler whose self-esteem was dependent on anonymous entities on a site who gave reviews to her fledgling writing. This does not mean I am abandoning the story—I am in no means a quitter and I will complete the story whether the readers like it or not.
I find that the problem with my method of writing is that I get overexcited for an idea, begin writing a chapter and then immediately upload it without any sense of forethought or reflection. As a result, plots are never fully explored and given conclusion nor are the ideas truly completed: leaving messy skewy chapters whose only true link towards each other is the vague summary that is written after the first upload. I find self-actualization with reviews and my writing is dependent on the number of reviews I get: this is not healthy—both for my writing and my emotional capacity to write. I’ve learned a lot from the experiences I’ve had on the site and from reading the experiences of other authors that I’ve had the pleasure of conversing with. As such, my attitude towards fanfiction is going to change and hopefully for the better.
The medium that fanfiction provides is one that I admire and hold closely to the individual that I am; thus I hope my change in attitude will improve my fanfiction for myself and for the readers—whose opinions I’ve always held close to me. You readers are my mentors, my advisers and my peers; therefore I try to improve myself for you guys. Thus, my future plans are this: I plan to focus solely on “Decisions” and “Remember the Time”.
These are the two fanfiction that are the most closely set in realistic capacities (an aspect that I enjoy) and these two are the fanficiton I have planned for the most. I will complete them. COMPLETE them, before I upload any chapters. This may seem tedious but in the long-run I’m sure you all will appreciate a well-written and conceived fanfiction then some patch-work type read due to poor planning. After which I will focus on “Say”, a nice small little project whose original idea I was very attracted to but have lost inspiration towards over the last few months. Throughout this I will be writing several one-shots (my specialty) to ensure that my love for writing still continues.
Throughout, I will also post new, potential story ideas that I would like to pursue. I urge all those reading these ideas not to steal them for they are MY original ideas. I’ve had the occasion where this has happened—it has caused me to lose faith in the fandom and subsequently I have stopped posting my ideas on my profile in fear that someone else will swoop in and steal it and feel entitled towards the idea. However I have grown passed this and feel that the fandom hasn’t turned completely into shit-faced trolls who feel the need to steal ideas from others and will continue the trend I used to do. Digimon is the only fandom I have written for and for the foreseeable future will be the only fandom I write for.
It was the first medium that captured my imagination and is the one that fuels my creative fire. I am open to writing for other mediums but Digimon is the one I’ll stick too. However, I am not a digimon fanfiction reader just because it makes me lose my own perception of the medium. I don’t want my writing mind to be clouded by others fanfiction as it could have an affect on the way I write. I admire those that write for the medium and I am a staunch supporter of those who do but don’t expect any digimon fanficiton to be in my favorite section—it is a boundary I will not cross. I’ve learned that by reading other fanfiction, there is a tendency to model that framework in your own work—such as the case with Harry Potter Fanfiction which I greatly enjoy reading. It causes works to be repetitive and I no longer feel any inspiration towards Harry Potter writing any longer. I don’t want that to happen to me when it comes to Digimon.
Thus I hope this long author note has given you the information that you desire in terms of my future plans on this site. I hope all of you will continue to support me throughout my endeavors and I wish you all the best of luck as well
FANGIRLISM (pairings I support): EDIT- 01/20/2013: My Opinions Have Changed Greatly... o.0 BTW, My favored pairing are not indicative of the fanfiction I read. I am open to all pairings or fanfiction in any form. (Forgive long answers for my supports)
Taiora: My favorite couple from Digimon. Reasons why I support this pairing are very simple. Putting supernatural shit aside (like the whole crests debacle) they have a pre-established friendship. I find love that is based on friendship is a lot more long-lasting, admirable and more attractive then that whole "love at first sight" crap that everyone seems to be throwing out these days. Sora is Taichi's guide as well as providing him that moral and emotional support that he needs to lead. Consequently Taichi makes Sora feel more and act more alive, he doesn't expect her to be strong like so many others. He sees her as his equal while wanting to protect her. He supports her and She supports him. The dynamics of the two are both refreshing and heart-warming, despite their age. Love like this transcends obstacles and I have to admit this pairing has made me squeal more then any other.
Koumi: The dynamics of the two are hilarious...freaking hilarious. But they significance of the two towards each other is what causes me to support them. Mimi lets Izzy cut loose a little but also brings out the courage and strength he often lacks in front of his older contemporaries (namely Taichi and Yamato) so that he can protect and provide for her (See Digimon Adventure and Diaboromon Strikes Back). Izzy, on the other hand, strips away Mimi's "valley-girl" persona and makes her question herself. In short, Izzy causes Mimi to be more then just one-dimensional annoying girl-girl, she turns into a fleshed-out pre-pubescent girls with her own insecurities and walls that she lets down when she's around Izzy.
Takari: I find Daisuke to be an unfortunate character, he is immature to the end and therefore never really provides Hikari anything apart from blinding admiration which is neither warranted nor healthy. Takeru doesn't, he has seen her at her worst. Despite this, Hikari causes Takeru to find courage and to man up for himself and her. Hikari also finds herself stronger when she is with Takeru. With the addition of a long-lasting friendship a pairing like this is bound to last.
Akari/Taiki: Perhaps I only support this pairing because of the parallels between this pairing and Taiora. I mean think about it: two pre-estalbished friends that go on a digimon adventure becoming more emotionally closer and attached as it goes on. It's the pairing between the main goggle guy and the main female character (who has the same over-bearing hair color as her predecessor) As the second series roles around we see less interaction but the rapport is still there and suddenly the female character gets a look update and looks more girly. The difference though is that Taiki is a mature version of Taichi, consequently he's a Gary Stu character. Despite this, the dynamics between the two are more light-hearted and it's interesting to see Taiki become more mature for Akari and Akari being so invested in Taiki.
Kiriha/Nene: Perhaps one of the most interesting dynamics I have ever seen. Although they don't develop each other as much as other pairings I enjoy (I enjoy pairing in which characters develop each other). They are my favorite characters from their series separately. It's interesting to see Nene and Kiriha have fun around each other when they are so serious separately. There's no denying the attraction that is there as well (blushing...)
Harry/Hermione: J.K. Rowling really missed the mark when she decided to go on the "canon" path. I don't hate Ginny nor do I hate Ron. I just hate Ginny with Harry and Ron with Hermione. You CANNOT base love on arguments and petty fighting and jealousy; that is destructive and poisonous. Nor can you base love on some school-girl crush on the character and not the REAL person; that is a fairy tale and a disaster waiting to happen. The Love between Harry and Hermione is and feels more REAL then anything else in the book. Hermione cares for and love Harry for HARRY, not for the Boy-Who-Lived, not for the Savior of the Wizarding World, not for the Quidditch Star but for Harry--the boy who can never keep his hair under control, who loves his friends but is soft-spoken and kind. Hermione IS the only girl that has access to the real Harry because she CARES FOR THE REAL HARRY. I cannot stress that enough. Harry loves Hermione for Hermione, not for the bushy-bossy girl. He cares for her and sees the real her. He motivates her to do her best and vice-versa. This my friends is true love. Not love based on facades, but on reality. Besides, James/Lily is much more similar to Harry/Hermione which only fuels to the pairing fire and that is why I will always support them.
Fred/Hermione: They say that J.K. Rowling originally paired these two together. Well...that would have been a HELL OF A LOT BETTER THEN KILLING FRED OFF AND PAIRING HERMIONE WITH HIS LITTLE BROTHER WHO HAS THE EMOTIONAL CAPACITY OF A PINE CONE. *sigh. I love Fred, I'm not going to lie. I think there is actually so much hidden depth behind the funny persona that he brings forth that seems to ignite when that book-crazed Hermione crosses his path. I prefer Fred over George (which is silly because essentially they are the same character). But I feel that Fred is a lot more meaner then George and the rapport that the could have had with Hermione is infinity more interesting because of that.
Sirius/Hermione: Whether it be present or time-turner situations, I enjoy these two together. While I support Hermione and Harry to the end I still enjoy Sirius...just because he's Sirius. I love Sirius--his gritty banter, infinite charm, dashing looks (Gary Oldman...), Marauder Persona but dark side that has matured this man into Sirius Black/Padfoot. Who could infuriate Hermione more then Sirius? It's established and seeing Hermione unhinge is freaking hilarious. Hermione would be challenged by Sirius and she needs it, for too long she's been accepted to do things because of her vast intelligence but has yet to find a man that could challenge her conventions to the very core and Sirius does that. On the other hand, Sirius needs that calm logical caring mind that would be there to give him the affection he craves--the young yet old-soul Hermione would provide that. Besides, it be pretty hot if they were together (don't mind my superficial tendencies)
Remus/Hermione: Okay by now you can guess that Hermione is my favorite character from Harry Potter. I love her strength and imperfections and her sense that she will never downgrade herself for men (feminism anyone?). Remus and Hermione's intelligence are on-par. So the intellectual rapport is always a plus. That and Hermione's depth of empathy would see past Remus's condition and would give him the tender love and care he wants and needs. Remus would be pretty possessive with that wolf side of him and he'd protect and make Hermione fee like a girl--which she is and deserves.
James/Lily: Maybe the only canon couple I like...how ironic. But I love Lily and I love James; not just because they created Harry together (oh god) but because they are generally likeable characters separately. I like how Lily and James didn't have to change each other to be together but they just grew up together and ultimately found each other. Their love is pure and untainted so there's something appealing about that.
Neville/Luna: If the movie didn't warm my little fangirl heart :) What isn't there to say about Neville that hasn't been said before. He is by far the most developed character in the series, fucking great. And Luna? She's been his supporter, his friend before all the glory and strength was given to him. Plus I love the strength that Luna brings out in Neville (it's very attractive...) vice-verse and besides Luna's overall quirkiness is balanced with Neville's kind logic. They would be great together (cute little fairy togetherness :)). J.K. ROWLING WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? I DON'T KNOW JACK-SHIT ABOUT HANNAH ABBOT AND ROLF SCHMA-WATEVER. WHY IN SEVEN HELLS WOULD I GIVE A RAT'S ASS ABOUT THESE CANON COUPLES IF THEY HAD NO INTERACTION OVER THE COURSE OF THE SERIES? WHY WOULD YOU MAKE ME EMOTIONALLY INVESTED IN A PAIRING IF YOU WERE JUST GOING TO UP AND CHANGE SHIT OFF BOOK? EXPLAIN THIS TO ME!!! EXPLAIN.
Harry/Sirius: Yeah sue me, I like them together. It's hot and interesting especially if it's in a time-turner situation where Harry knows more that Sirius, and Sirius is all teenage-hotness. Sirius would be the protector and Harry would be the conscious. Tell me there isn't a fangirl that hasn't thought of this situation before.
NaruHina: I fucking hate Sakura (excuse my language) I find her to be the most annoying, most useless, most frustrating character I have ever encoutnered my whole entire life. Her character development has regressed to the point where I wonder why the hell she was made the main character in the first place. INO would have been a better choice then this love-sick bitch -.- I don't know why Naruto was ever attracted to her or even continued after the way she treated him. But my hate for Sakura is not why I support this pairing. I greatly admire Hinata and Naruto--both because of their struggle to overcome adversity. Naruto has been a source of strength for Hinata that has allowed her to grow into a strong and independent women. On the flip side, Hinata has been Naruto supporter since day 1. She didn't just jump the gun when Naruto all of a sudden became "powerful" (unlike *cough *cough, some people). She loved Naruto before all the fame and glory. She'll provide the love and care he so rightly deserves. This couple in my mind is canon (as of Chapter 615) and I couldn't be more prouder.
NaruSasu: While NaruHina seems like the more obvious canon choice I still greatly love this paring. I empathize with both Sasuke and Naruto and the homoerotic subtext of the manga only fuels my Yaoi fan mind. They both care for each other, would die and kill for each other, it's obvious and no one can dissuade that.
Side Note: I actually enjoy Naruto paired up with any male in a Yaoi pairing. This is probably due to my love for Naruto as a character and my desire for him to be taken care of for once which is why I often want him to be in a Yaoi pairing as an uke. A heterosexual pairing wouldn't work as well in that aspect and quite frankly it's just more entertaining to read.
ShikaTema: I'm attracted to the dynamics of this couple and what they mean towards each other. This is slightly canon in my fandom brain. Temari makes Shikamaru skip a step and also motivates him to do better. She supported him throughout each arc and has been a source of annoyance and admiration for Shikamaru as he displays more emotion around her then any other character. She develops him. On the flip side, Shikamaru allows Temari to pull down the barriers she has enforced around her and she shows a softer and more gentle side around him then anyone else. Their intelligence is matched and they look great together. Also, when Shikamaru has his fantasy of having a "Shikamaru Shippuden" show, the character that was opposite him was Temari...enough said.
Ichigo/Rukia: What other reason is there to support a pairing other then the fact that they give each other a purpose. Ichigo doesn't have to be strong around Rukia, Rukia doesn't have to be calm around Ichigo. They bring out the best and the worst in each other. Not to mention the fact that they are the core dynamic to the series. Orihime's silly attraction based on nothing but Ichigo's strength would cause Ichigo to have to pretend for the rest of his life. Rukia and Ichigo are more then best friends, they understand each other where no one else does and they were meant for each other.
Karin/Toshiro: I've honestly never seen Toshiro act the way he does with anyone else but Karin. Sure it's based in the anime so it's completely -UN CANON but I still like it nevertheless. Toshiro is mature and Karin brings out the childishness that he so surely needs. Karin is intrigued by his demeanor and his overall protectiveness; counteracting the tough exterior that Karin usually puts up. It's a nice balance.
Inuyasha/Kikyou: I hate Kagome's whiny bitchiness when it comes to Inuyasha and Kikyou. You may say the whole "SIT" maneuver she uses is some love/hate relationship thing she got going on--all I see is abuse. I like Kikyou, she's cool and awesome and not USELESS. She serves a purpose, she isn't some love-sick school girl whose purpose is solely dependent on her love interest. She's a calm collected women that is strong and doesn't need a man to protect her, it's just that Inuyasha WANTS to protect her. Their love is pure and tragic. I've never seen Inuyasha as gentle as when he is with Kikyou and I've never seen Kikyou as more HUMAN as when she is with Inuyasha. I know the whole spiel about "if you love two people go for the second" crap but technically once Kagome came in the picture, Kikyou was the second person. Logistics aside I love Inuyasha and Kikyou together, because it feels natural and poetic; not some forced shojo cliche.
Kagome/Koga: I like Koga because he's the underdog (I also like wolves and wolf motifs...sue me). Often the fun kind of player-like character is always the guy that loses the girl--that makes no sense. I don't understand how a guy who has a nice and extroverted personality loses out to the mysterious dark lead character. I digress, anyway I love Koga's devotion of Kagome that progresses from selfish tendencies to genuine feelings. Kagome also needs a guy that is COMPLETELY devoted to her and will bring out some empathetic and caring side of her; unlike Inuyasha.
Miroku/Sango: I don't have much to say. I guess I support it because it's canon and the dynamic actually seems developed and makes some coherent sense. That and I really like Miroku as a character and Sango is just badass so they go pretty well together.
