Wow, they've really changed up Fanfic, haven't they? I've missed this place.
My name is Keely, and I'm very much in love with J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. I ship Harry/Hermione. I don't write fanfiction (I've tried in the past and have failed in such epic proportions that I was turned off from attempting ever again) but I love to read it.
My username on Pottermore is WolfsbaneSnidget126, as I was one of the lucky million to get early access.
If you have any questions, PM me and I'll get back to you as soon as I check my inbox. I can't guarantee that will be speedy, as my keeping up with Fanfic hasn't been... well, consistent.
NOTE: These challenges are not of my own creation. I simply enjoy the premise of the ideas.
1.) Reptilia28's Challenge
Harry is killed at 17 during a fight with Voldemort. He's sent to his Death's office (explained later) and finds out that this isn't the first time that this has happened.
Harry's Death (who can have a human name) is mad at his arrival. Apparently, people dying before their time is a black mark on the various Deaths' records, and Harry is getting perilously close to getting this particular one fired.
When Harry asks what was supposed to have happened, Death goes off on a rant saying how he was supposed to have killed Voldemort, found his soulmate ("Some Granger girl...") and lived to be a centennial age. But since Harry keeps getting into life-threatening situations for one reason or another, he keeps dying before that happens. Harry is surprised about the soulmate part.
Death gives Harry a paper to sign that allows him to retain his memories (the previous times, he wasn't given this option for some reason). Harry is deposited to a previous time of the writer's choosing.
Eventually, Harry gets it right. He kills Voldemort, gets the girl, and lives to a ripe old age of whatever. And Death doesn't get fired.
- Harry had to have died at least three times before this one.
- The memory keeping contract must be included.
- Death must refer to Hermione as "Some Granger girl" when Harry's soulmate turns up in his rant.
- Obviously, must be H/Hr.
- Dumbledore's manipulations can be a factor in Harry's premature demises.
- Hermione may or may not be told of Harry's little "situation."
2.) Paladeus's Challenge
During the fight at the Department of Mysteries, when Hermione is attacked, Harry believes her to be dead. In a horrible rage, he unlocks a power seal that he had placed on himself as a child (or his parents did due to LOTS of accidental magic) where ninety-percent of his magic was sealed away (and was until that point, even as powerful as he was.) He uses this powerful magic to heal Hermione without even realizing he did it, though everyone else did, and then, they all go and meet everyone in the room with the veil of death. When Sirius is about to be pushed through, Harry reaches out with all of his magic, encasing Sirius in it just as he falls through. The magic (acting much like a rope with a cocoon on the end) pulls taut and Harry pulls back, yelling for it to “GIVE ME BACK MY FAMILY!” which pulls not only Sirius back through with his new and immense power, but Lily and James Potter as well. You take the story from there, though Sirius must become innocent and Hermione must spend a lot of time with Harry during the summer as he refuses to let his feelings for her be hidden any longer. He tells her right after the battle is over and she reciprocates in whatever method you choose.)
Now that Voldemort is known to be back, Lily, James and Sirius invite the Grangers to live with them in Potter Manor (large estate, very large, but nice, not sterile,) and with Dobby and Winky whom Harry hires as soon as he finds out about the house, though Dobby has been cleaning it since Harry freed him. If you want it realistic, and the Doctors don't want to leave their practice, have the Potters offer to buy them out and let them manage it, at which point, they can open another one after the war is over. Up to you if Dumbledore was a manipulative or evil/half-evil guy or not. (My own view is that he is fundamentally good, but is clouded by his own views and believes himself to be infallible. I would like this persona, but feel free to do whatever you wish.)
Author's story from here: Do what you will with the story, though it MUST remain H/Hr. I would, however, recommend this: Have Harry purchase a pensieve and show all memories from Dursleys', each separate school year and summer and such. It will show the parents what exactly happened, along with Hermione and her parents and Dumbledore if he sticks around for whatever you want with him.
