Author has written 10 stories for Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin, Harry Potter, and Supernatural. Hey, everybody. I'm Fia. My name really is Celtic even though I'm American. I prefer to be called Fia, except by my dad because he can actually pronounce my name and make it sound cool (the last name is fake, though). I am generally one of those lurkers on the internet that reads other people's work but hardly reviews or posts things myself. I am a college graduate (that's a relatively new development) and have an office job that mostly involves typing things up, but I already miss school. I have quite a few fandoms that I follow, but the ones I'm loyal to are few and far between (see below). I've actually been off this site for more than a year, which I partially blame on finishing college and moving to a different state for my first job. I'm back though, and I have a plan: again see below. Please treat me well! Things I go squee for: My tastes are incredibly eclectic. I was first introduced to manga by my sister, and FMA was the first anime I knew existed, simply due to my brother playing the video games. On this site, I started out reading Naruto fanfics, but then I discovered that other things I already liked had fanfiction (mostly Jane Austen books), and it kind of expanded from there. Favorite manga: FMA (tops the list always), Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto, Bitter Virgin, and a few shoujo ones that I read when my brain isn't up to anything else. Favorite anime: FMA (I started out with the original series in English and pretty much fell in love with Mustang's English voice actor), Romeo x Juliet (also in English because I love Shakespeare), and Princess Tutu (with subtitles because it makes more sense that way). Other TV shows: BBC's Merlin, Sherlock, and more recently Doctor Who. Also Supernatural, but my staples are crime dramas: Law & Order, NCIS, and Blue Bloods being my favorites. Favorite authors: (I was going to put books, but there would be way too many) Neil Gaiman, C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Ted Dekker, Mercedes Lackey, Sara Douglass, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Shakespeare (English major, what can I say?), Stephen Lawhead, and more that I cannot think of at the moment. Etc: I'm also a fan of DC comics (Batman being my favorite), X-men, Spiderman, Jet Li, Christian Bale, Firefly (and other Joss Wheedon stuff), Disney (I grew up during the Eisner Era, right when things were getting good again), and Shakespearean comedies. I am in love with fairy tales and folklore, doesn't matter where in the world they're from, and I love stories that combine history or mythology with plot or regular story-telling. 1/18/14 It's always surprising to me what actually makes me feel like I'm an adult. Example: This past week, I got my tax information from last year in the mail. But tonight, I'm helping to throw a surprise birthday party for one of my good friends. So, I pay taxes (adult activity), but I'm also hiding behind a couch to surprise a friend on her birthday (squee!). I give up on trying to understand adult life. Tomorrow is the final post for "Fight Fire with Fire," which I'm super excited for. I've really been enjoying writing this series, not only because I love Supernatural for the family bonds and brotherly feelings (seriously, fratérnité), but also because it's been a very fun experiment in story structure for me. I have gotten a couple of people asking if I'm going to return to "Doomed to Repeat" any time soon, and honestly ... I have no idea. "Doomed" was literally the first thing I attempted to write in terms of fanfiction. It's certainly the very first of my works, fanfiction or otherwise, that I made public by posting here. As such, I am supremely aware of its flaws — and there are some major flaws in it. So, I don't know if I could bring myself to go back and pick up where I left off in the story without wanting to go back to the beginning and fix the entire thing before I made any forward progress. It is also, despite its popularity, the story I've gotten the most negative reviews on. I know that shouldn't make a difference, and it sounds incredibly whiny to say I don't want to finish the story because a few people didn't like it. And that's really not the case. It's more the fact that I think I've grown beyond what I was trying to do with "Doomed," which is basically a fix-it fic that I started way back when I was still enjoying the Naruto manga. I don't even follow Naruto very closely anymore. So, that's basically a lot of words to say I don't know what I'm going to do once the Fraternity series is done, and I certainly don't know what I'm going to do with "Doomed to Repeat." I hope you guys will bear with me while I'm trying to figure it out. Sincerely, Fia |
