I'm hoping to borrow something from a writer I respect quite a bit on this site, cathedral carver, in what I post here - "Write the story that you most desperately want to read."

In that light, I'm currently writing the following pieces, and am in avid need of a beta reader for them all - I haven't had too much luck with the in-site beta reader search so far. Feel free to drop me a line if you're interested. I'm also open to editing past works as well, so if you want to do an in depth read of something already published, I'll welcome you with open arms. I'll post when I finally feel comfortable enough with them to show them to the general public, and having an editor will speed that along considerably!

I've also instituted a policy where every 100th reviewer gets a story of choice from me, inspired by another favorite author of mine, Loten. I'm hoping that'll get me to expand my horizons, and push me to write a bit more. So, if providing a writer with valuable feedback isn't enough motivation, then at least review so perhaps you can have someone else write that story you've always wanted to read. ;)

I make an effort to review everything I read, particularly as now that I post on a regular basis I have become acutely aware of the discrepancy between people reading and reviewing a story. I also do my best to provide thoughtful reviews with a few notes of constructive criticism - the sorts of reviews I like to receive best. A lot of authors starting out on this website, myself included, really do crave feedback that can help them become stronger writers, and I really want to be a part of that effort. I'd encourage you to do the same.

CURRENT STORIES

Aphelion. Avengers x Harry Potter, focusing heavily on Hermione & Loki. Starts with Hermione in her first year and details her encounters with a strange man - none other than our Loki - she meets in the library over the course of her time at Hogwarts - and beyond into the events of Thor and Avengers. Canon utilized for each is a fairly free blend of movies, comics and books, though familiarity with the Marvel comic universe isn't a prerequisite. The first two parts (70K) are posted and are currently being revised as of 10/19 with the help of my lovely beta reader MakalaMea. Derecho. Harry Potter x Avengers. Aphelionverse, written as prompted by the 100th reviewer of Aphelion. A longish short story featuring a somewhat modified cast of Avengers visiting Hogwarts for a summer, after the events of Aphelion. Consider it an epilogue for all our favorite characters who... aren't just Loki and Hermione. I've begun writing it, though it won't be posted until after Aphelion is complete because otherwise it'd spoil y'all horribly.

Citrine. Xena: Warrior Princess. Xena/Ares. Ares figures out Xena's little subterfuge with the suicide, but doesn't give it up to his darling siblings; as a reward he gets a very different view of what it's like to raise a godkiller. AU from Looking Death in the Eye onwards. Novella, complete at 15K but needs some more editing. Very minimalistic.

Cleave. Hermione, not Ginny, acquires Tom Riddle's diary in Chamber of Secrets. How does a lonely girl react to having an intellectual superior willing to teach her things she could scarcely imagine - and a seemingly perfect friend who invites her to confide her very soul to him? Fixates naturally on Hermione and Tom Riddle, but also has a good dollop of Snape thus far as well. Very dark with a slow, complex buildup. I've only got this written halfway through the second year thus far (around 20K) but it promises to be a long one - an indefinite AU, and I'm not entirely clear on the final destination at this point. It may, may, turn into Hermione/Tom eventually, but for the relationship is simply complex. I'll probably start posting this after I've gotten Aphelion all finished and polished up.

Mimesis. Hermione discovers "Moody's" true identity early on in the Triwizard Tournament; a game of cat and mouse ensues that leaves her bound and broken. Fixates on Barty and Hermione, but with plenty of Viktor, Ron, Harry and other characters as well. Also very dark with the same sort of slow buildup I like in Cleave, but more graphic than the sort of subtle emotional manipulation in the former. Not for the squeamish. Splits time between Barty and Hermione's perspective. I've got around 16K written thus far, and at current only extends three quarters of the way through the year. May be another indefinite AU. Interesting Times. Based around BBC's recent Sherlock. Filling in some of the loose ends in A Scandal in Belgravia. Very heavy on Sherlock and Irene, focusing on developing their characters and relationship in a bit more realistic psychological depth. This emerged out of a bet with a friend who thought I was being too critical of the show. Short story, probably around 5K when complete. I am currently trying very hard to write a realistic sex scene for the pair, which is perhaps unsurprisingly difficult, so help along those lines would be lovely.

Deliquesce. Star Trek: Voyager. Chakotay/Seven. Filling in the events in their relationship prior to Endgame - a lot of it is me trying to make sense of a pair that made no sense to me as a ten year old growing up watching this series. From Seven's perspective, which is... interesting to write. Will probably only be around 2 or 3K in the end, but it's been giving me quite a lot of difficulty. Again with the whole inability-to-write-about-sex thing...

Lacuna. Harry Potter. Ron has been intriguing me quite a bit lately as a character, but very few authors seem to take him seriously - it's all either Ronbashing or fluff. I'm hoping to do a piece that explores the darker, more complex aspects of his personality that we glimpse so briefly in Deathly Hallows. Right now it's only a sequence of drabbles, but the plan is to make a series of connected scenes that form a novella around the post-DH reconstruction efforts. I'll probably stick closely to canon and keep it Hermione/Ron, though I want to keep the fic focusing on Ron and not on his significant other. I probably won't start posting this until I've gotten all of the above at least mostly out of the way.

COMPLETED STORIES

Eschatology, Parenting, & You (By Dr Granger, BChD) Harry Potter x AvengersAphelionverse, mostly taking place after chapter six (Hermione's fifth year). Giftfic for the 400th reviewer of Aphelion, who requested that I write something in which Loki meets Hermione's parents, specifically her father.

Here Be Monsters. Harry Potter x Avengers, Aphelionverse. Short story written for the 200th reviewer of Aphelion. Takes places pre-Thor and during GOF. Harry's POV, implied Loki/Hermione. I was told to write a happy day-in-the-life-of, while also ruminating over how to fill in some plotholes that I couldn't really explain from either Hermione or Loki's POV in the main bit of Aphelion. Harry playing at investigator with how Hermione's been spending her nights was the obvious result.

Erratics. Thor/Avengers, AU. Prize for the 300th reviewer of Aphelion, Nostalgic Beauty. Odin makes a different choice all those years ago on Jotunheim - or rather, he gives Laufey one: who would raise the son he had earlier abandoned to die?

Grayscale. KOTOR. Kreia, Exile, Atton, Revan. Fairly abstract character studies that explore their trajectories after the game's ending. I've been thinking of going back and expanding this more on the advice of a reviewer (and now that I've gotten to be a much better writer thanks to Aphelion) but for now, this is how it'll stay.
