Author has written 14 stories for StarTrek: The Original Series, Harry Potter, Big Bang Theory, Dungeons and Dragons, Lost In Space, Neverending Story, Once Upon a Time, Game of Thrones, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Doctor Who, His Dark Materials, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Bewitched, Lost in Space, 2018, and NOS4A2. I am a 60-something American, and I live in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to my dabbling in fanfiction, I have been - and still am - an avid plastic model builder. This was a popular hobby when I was in school in the 1960's/1970's, and hobby shops back then were almost as ubiquitous as computer game stores are now. But growing up, I've also had some ideas for stories that often combined my favorite characters from various fandoms. Unfortunately, I had no real way to explore this as a hobby, other than by asking my friends as an aside, "Wouldn't it be cool if . . . .?" Though an early form of 'fanfiction' did exist back in the day, (mostly for "Star Trek" and "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,") it took the form of privately-published "Fanzines" that still followed a formal vetting process requiring stories to be submitted by the author and to be reviewed by an editor. Rejections were as common as not. Also, these stories had to be written in manuscript form, with lots of tedious revisions, before they could be put in their final form (on a typewriter!) and submitted to the Fanzine by mail. The creation of the Word Processor and the Internet changed this dynamic - for better or worse, I cannot say - but permitted hobbyist writers to share their story ideas among peers without involving any third party intermediaries, much less gate-keepers. When it comes to Fanfiction, I like "crossover" stories because although the reader knows the characters in each fandom intimately; the characters from the different fandoms do not know each other - and that's where the real fun begins! Anyway, these are my stories so far. I hope you like them . . . . |
