Author has written 1 story for Lord of the Rings.
Hello, I'm Celrena (pronounced kell-REE-na), also known as Cel. I'm nineteen, and I just recently moved to Montreal, Quebec. Needless to say, I'm working on my French. I love cheerful things, action/mystery movies and thunderstorms (which kind of goes against the entire 'cheerful' things rule). I'm very short with short, light brown hair and hazel eyes.
I love to read, write and play soccer. I hope to become a journalist or a writer, and I like to think of Fanfiction as my practice (which I need... desperately.) I'm really in love with Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, although Twilight now has a special place in my heart (along with Jacob, who is fabulous).
I have what I like to call the Aragorn-complex when it comes to writing. Notice how Aragorn has multiple identities (Estel, Thorongil, Elessar, Strider...)? Well, I'm the same way. I have three writing styles which come out to play, and sometimes intermingle in fics.
Light Sarcasm- I use this one the most. It can be used for anything, but generally it just means I toss little sarcastic comments in random places to add a little 'spice'.
Horror/Angst- Obviously for the fics in which light humor simply won't cut it. This is very descriptive and dense.
Pure- What is this? This is used for the long, chaptered fics where I'm actually trying to tell a story. It is written in a similar style to most adventure books, and tells the story how it is ('pure' story, 'pure' adventure).
Now that you know my styles, it's time I told you who these styles will be used on. The characters I love to play with mostly are Aragorn/Estel, Legolas, Haldir (newly added), Glorfindel (newly added) and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
On another note, I'm also looking for a Beta Reader. I need someone who is very picky about grammar/sentence structure, lives on similar ships and who is not afraid to call me out on being difficult. I want to learn how to improve. I also try to follow canon facts- meaning if I messed up someone's eye-colour, I'd like to fix that.
Finally, reviews. This is the first time I've actually signed up for an account, but I've left many anonymous reviews in the past. I try to leave constructive criticism gently, but from time to time it's a little harsh. It is not meant as a flame, for flamers are pathetic, but if it were me, I'd want my work critiqued so that I could be the best I could be. If however, you have had a problem with a review I left, feel free to contact me. If I've gone too far, I want to apologize. As for you reviewing me? Only do so if it suits you, but please be polite. I won't force them out of you by refusing to post, however. See the section entitled 'My Fanfictions' for more information.
Lord of the Rings Pairings
LotR is currently 'my fandom', meaning it's the one I play in the most. I have some new news, however; I have jumped from the A/L ship, and have joined one more.
Legolas/Aragorn- My favorite pairing of all time (but tied with Obi/Qui). The friendship fics and slash ships are both fantastic. There are so many well written A/L's out there, but if I had to pick one, I'm very partial to The Roots of Evil by Imaginigma (it is not slash) . It really keeps you on your toes.
Haldir/Aragorn- Haldir is growing on me very fast (although I tend to overlook Helm's Deep). Once again, friendship and slash both work, although I'm kind of more on the friendship side at the moment. Still unsure? Check out Marchwriter's ever growing saga, then get back to me :).
As for side characters, I love the Rivendell Elves (Elladan, Elrohir, Arwen, Elrond, Glorfindel and Erestor), though I have soft spot for the twins and Glorfi. Thranduil can either be a big pain or a great asset depending on how he's characterized. Small moments with Galadriel and Celeborn are nice as well, as are fics centering around the Fellowship (although I've never had much love for Boromir). Lately, I've had a new obsession with pairing Aragorn with any random Elf (except maybe Restor) to see what comes out of it.
Jedi Apprentice/Star Wars Pairings
I'm a huge Padawan Obi-Wan fan. I'm not big on the beard from AotC and on, but I guess he had to look a little older. After Obi, I love Qui-Gon, Anakin and Mace all equally. Haha Windu does has the best 'saber though.
Obi/Qui- hmm so this one is interesting. Originally, I only liked the Father/Son or Teacher/Student relationship fics, but the slash ones have grown on me. I'm still a little squicky about the Mpreg ones though. Either way, O/Q is my favorite pairing (tied with A/L)
Ani/Padme- Ooh even though I knew it was coming, I cried in RotS. Even the dramatic little 'NoOOoo' didn't ruin it for me.
Mace/Adi- Usually as a side, but I think these two would have worked nicely. Pretty much Mace with anyone is fine by me (unless it interferes with the pairings above).
I also love Bant, Garen and Xanatos as side characters. A Light Xanatos usually makes me shiver, but I've read a couple of really well-written ones lately, and I'm warming to the idea.
While my favorite character is the series is Jake, I'm a big fan of the Canon pairings. I was very disappointed with Jacob's mate in Breaking Dawn, but I still believe that the Jacob/Bella/Edward was resolved correctly (gah, I'm trying not to put spoilers in my profile.) After Jake, I'd probably have to say that it's a tie between Edward and Jasper. Edward sounds like a dream, but his tendency to blame himself for everything grows tiring.
Jacob/Leah- The one non-canon pairing I was rooting for. I was so thrilled for those few chapters in Breaking Dawn that hinted at this...
Harry Potter Pairings
Harry Potter is by far my most frigged up fandom. I say that because I'm pretty much against all of the canon pairings, except in the actual books (very confusing, I know). I just feel that those pairings are sacred almost, and while J.K. did a fantastic job writing the books, the fanfics should be completely different. Most of the fics I enjoy star Hermione, so she pops up in most of my favorite pairings.
Hermione/Draco- Okay, I was rooting for this since I read the Philosopher's Stone (I think I was eight at the time). I was so sure J.K. would throw us for a loop and put them together (to end the Muggleborn/Pureblood strife). The one story that I've read in this category that really stands out is We Learned the Sea, by luckei1. Trust me, it's completely worth it.
Hermione/Tom- Tied with Hr/D on the 'favorite' scale, even though there is no way in hell this would ever happen. I love the time-travelling fics, but now I'm beginning to think they're overdone. Unsure about the pairing? I recommend Have You Ever by Lady MoonGlow. Oh my god, it is fantastic.
Hermione/Lucius- Yes, Lucius Malfoy. Piss of, Narcissa. I know the age difference is a little off, but seriously, some of these fics are so well-written. And I love how creative people can get when choosing a plotline. Some of the stuff is out of this world.
Those are my favorite pairings, but I'm also a huge Sirius fan. I'm open to pretty much anything with him. Snape and Lily stories have potential, but because of the Deathly Hallows, it's kind of hard to keep them together. As side characters, I love Harry (of course!), the Marauders (minus Peter, who disgusts me), the twins, and Fleur.
Finally, these are the pairings from various movies that I love but am not devoted to.
Elphie/Fiyero (from Wicked)
Glinda/Elphie (non-romantic, also from Wicked)
Elizabeth/Will (from Pirates of the Caribbean)
Jack/Ana (also from Pirates of the Caribbean)
Davy Jones/Tia (yet another, from Pirates of the Caribbean)
Now that I've gotten to tell you all about myself, on to the important stuff.
At the moment, I'm focusing on Lord of the Rings; however, I have a JA in developmental phases as well. I need everyone to understand this though: I need a lot of encouragement to finish my fics (although I will eventually) once I lose interest. Once this happens, it takes a very long time for me to go back. That being said, if I can finish the story while I'm still interested, then the problem is solved. All are AU, and deal mostly with the What If...? complex.
Below are a list of the fanfics which are either in planning stages (non-posted) or in progress (posted, but incomplete). Oneshots and drabbles will not be listed here.
Another Day to Die- (LOTR; Aragorn/Estel and the Peredhels). WARNING: Deals with Necromancy and character death. Two years after a tragic event which shattered the Peredhel family, their pasts come back to haunt them in a very unexpected way. Note: This is not a light-humored tale. I'm experimenting with one of my other writing styles, meaning that it is pretty much pure horror and angst, with no sarcastic little quips thrown in to lighten the mood. Feedback would be appreciated.
Dragonheart- (LOTR; Estel, Legolas and most of Middle-earth). Very AU. Set in between the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings. When a not-so-new enemy threatens to annihilate Middle-earth, Estel and Legolas discover a very new way to deal with it. Now, if only that Palantir would stop trying to kill them... Note: As a warning, this fic is going to be the monster. It's in it's developmental phases, and already it has fifty some odd chapters. It's pure adventure, but strays quite a bit from the Middle-earth we all love. Hint: There may be something about Dragons along the way... oh and the Elven Rings may have something to do with it ;)
A Knife In the Dark- (LOTR; Aragorn and the Hobbits). Strider has been stabbed on Weathertop, rather than Frodo. Can he lead them to Rivendell before the darkness consumes him?
Darkness Falls: Siege of the Sith- (JA; Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon, NONSLASH). WARNING: DarkObi fic. Very AU. While on a routine mission to end a civil war, sixteen year old Obi-Wan Kenobi disappears. Nine years later, Councilor Qui-Gon Jinn is sent to infiltrate a drug ring on the Outer Rim, only to find his 'missing padawan' may not be as 'missing' as he'd thought... Note: I've taken many liberties with my interpretation of the Sith. Which we may see a lot of.
Plotbunnies (Which I hope to use eventually)
1. A random LOTR slash pairing which rarely gets done. (I was thinking Estel/Glorfindel just for fun). Deals with an unintentional bonding that works out in the end.
2. A one-shot dealing with a 'What Would Have Happened if Aragorn Actually Fought Sauron...' challenge.
3. A Sweeney Todd/LOTR cross-over. Crackfic! I have no idea how to work this, but I'll be thrilled if I can pull on off.
