Author has written 19 stories for Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, Evangelion, Baccano!, Pokémon, Hetalia - Axis Powers, Shiki, Trigun, and Heat Guy J.
UPDATE: I am no longer accepting beta reader requests, and have decided to go on hiatus indefinitely owing to RL concerns. If you still want me to beta your work, I have an account with PTB where I can be reached.
Heya, I'm a biology student who enjoys writing as a hobby. Wrap your mind around that one!
Headcanons make me squee (provided I like the headcanon and the characters).
I love villains and anti-heroes of all kinds; the darker and more twisted the better (as long as they're not stock horror characters). Tragic villains are my absolute favorite types of characters in the whole entire universe.
I am randomly obsessed with random voice actors, and throw voice-actor references into my fanfics constantly. Spot them if you can (hint: all of them will pertain to ENGLISH VA's).
I will occasionally do reviews on request. However, there are a few ground rules:
1) I do not review known or suspected troll fics, nor do I review works where the author's first language is obviously not English. Don't even ask.
2) Do not ask me for more than one review on any one story. I may or may not review again, but if you're that concerned with the quality of your writing, a beta reader will be far more helpful than a review.
3) If you want me to take the trouble to review your stuff, you should give me something in return. Either review one of my stories yourself with constructive criticism or recommend them to someone who will.
4) YOU MUST BE MORE INTERESTED IN HONEST FEEDBACK THAN PRAISE!!!
I know, updates have been really slow owing to RL concerns. Hopefully things will start to trickle back in in the new future.
Also, since Halloween I've fallen hopelessly in love with Masao Murasako from "Shiki." Why isn't there more fanfiction of him, dammit?! He and his family are practically a fanfic-writing goldmine in and of themselves!!
*A Note on my Pokemon Fanfics*
Just for a point of clarification, I'm basing most of my Pokemon fanfiction (with the obvious exception of fanfics designed to show off an anime-only character) on the games only. That means that for my purposes, "canon" stops with the games, and the anime, manga, and even interviews are just hearsay. If it's not in the games, and I don't like it, it didn't happen.
The gameverse world that I'm putting together is my creation and may or may not dovetail with the world built in the anime or manga- if it makes sense in the context of the games, it's in there (it'll also be getting a bit of work done on it in the near future).
Additionally, the pokemon of all player characters (i.e., Leaf, Lyra, May, Dawn, and Hilda) who appear in my fanfics will be based on the pokemon in my own parties- irrespective of which pokemon any one of them had in the anime or manga (ex: I know that most official media shows Dawn and her various analogs starting with a Piplup, but since I started playing Platinum with a Chimchar, Dawn in my fanfiction will have a Chimchar/Monferno/Infernape).
Oh, and if you don't like the idea of the majority of trained pokemon being happy that their human owners are in charge, you probably won't like my stories :P
Fanbrats' Opinion of Game Poke-Villains:
Giovanni: Teh most epicly awesum boss evar because he was there first like!!! After all, what could possibly be cooler than a mob boss who spent his entire time sitting in his gym or hideout doing nothing right?!
Archie and Maxie: Mostly bland but cute.
Cyrus: An angsty emo loser who has the stupidity to bother to have a god complex and actually try to change the world rather than just going and trying to swipe a bunch of money like Giovanni the epically lazy mob boss...
N: A stupid, pathetic crybaby who's totally a moe uke for daring to actually have a conscience and want to help people rather than just being a raving psychopath who likes to kill people or steal money and command a bunch of incompetent yakuza from his gym. Also a hundred million times lamer than Cyrus because everyone knows that a broken man driven insane by his abusive family and stuff is like soooooo badass and awesome and totally superior in every way to a tortured individual who's touchingly determined to do what he can to realize his dream.
Now chew on this:
Saying that N is weak and stupid because he isn't as badass as Cyrus, is about the Poke-equivalent of saying that Nunnaly is weak and stupid because she isn't as badass as Mao.
But saying that N is weak and stupid because he isn't as badass as Giovanni is about the equivalent of saying that Nunnaly is weak and stupid because she isn't as badass as Prince Clovis!
Worst Villain Ever
VOLDEMORT!!! Oh, dear god, Voldemort!
Seriously, I've never seen a villain with lazier characterization. And I'm including Szilard, Fermet, and Grings Kodai in that tally. Lazy, lazy, lazy, and a perfect example of everything I hate about making villains evil at the expense of characterization, among them:
-Giving a villain a backstory only to show that he's always been purely evil and has never had a good bone in his body
-Having the villain do something evil with no rhyme or reason just to show that they're evil
-Rampant over-the-top indulgence in evil traits even when it makes it hard to take them seriously
-Generically evil goals and motivations, with no sensible one ever being mentioned
-Random invocation of Nazism just to make him seem eviler
Favorite Quotes (of, by, and about fiction in general)
"Just because you have powers, doesn't make you a hero! Sometimes, it just makes you a jerk..." --Will Stronghold, Sky High
"Sensible proponents of fantasy argue that it is perfectly okay to like dragons and wizards, and that the presence of fantasy elements does not make a story frivolous. Less sensible proponents of fantasy seem to want to argue that it is perfectly okay to like nothing except dragons and wizards, and that fantasy elements make a story more meaningful by their mere inclusion."
"Fantasy is not factual, and because it is not factual it must remain true, and the truth is that the real world matters, and that real people are amazing, and a hero who doesn't return is no hero at all."
