"I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters." -Frank Lloyd Wright
Ok...first off, thanks for visiting my profile. If you've been here before but don't recognize the name, I used to be Toph's Hammer but have since chosen a much more fandom-neutral moniker.
Anyway, I'm a college-age guy (which definitely puts me in the minority) who likes to write and dabble in a variety of fandoms.
I'd love to become an author someday, so we'll see. As for now, I'm trying to get through college and keep the advice my creative writing prof gave me...namely, "don't quit your day job."
Hopefully my writing has improved over the time I've been on this site, I'd like to think so...but maybe not, you be the judge. =) But anyways, I'm looking to improve my writing so if you have constructively worded criticism, I'd be more than willing to hear and/or open a dialogue about one of my stories if you want.
My account name comes from Isaiah 40:3 "A voice of one calling; 'In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.'"
Regardless, I'd love to hear from/talk with any of you so feel free to send me something if you want. You'll definitely get a response.
My first major endeavors were in Avatar: the Last Airbender.
Anyways, I was initially intrigued with the character of Toph and the Tokka relationship. I'm not totally sure why but I really felt like this was a pairing that could have happened (in the show) because they just work so well together. I realize it didn't (and won't) end that way unless Mike and Bryan choose to add to the ending, but I feel like Tokka could happen in the future. Anyway, those are my thoughts. To each his own.
As for shipping:
Tokka (my OTP): the best ship (imo) and it has the potential for endless amusement.
Kataang: yea, yea I've heard the he's too young, it wouldn't work argument...personally they seem fine to me. I'm also not a big fan of Katara dumping Aang just because "Zuko's hotter"
Maiko: she just works with him, a lot better than Katara would...and she has knives O.o
I'm in the process of writing a story, the Wrath of Koh, which is basically an extended epilogue of sorts that is 4 years after Sozin's Comet in which the Gaang gets back together and things start happening. I'm really trying to address most major/minor characters so hopefully I won't leave your favorite out. (this includes Suki) This is my major project for the moment and I'd love to hear what you think of it if you choose to read it. So thanks!
As far as the other "major ships" (Sukka, Zutara, Taang...), I'm not a real big fan of Zutara or Sukka but Taang holds an interest for me if it's written well. As far as slash or any of that stuff goes, you're on your own.
Oh and I'll add that I don't hate Suki as some Tokka shippers do...O.o
My quick thoughts about Harry Potter:
First off, I love the books, they were awesome. The world JK Rowling created just fascinates me with its intricacies. The whole ending and the build up of Deathly Hallows was brilliant, though I felt the final ending was lacking a bit because there was no resolution between Harry and Ginny, or much of anything else directly following the battle... =/
As for ships, I pretty much support what's canon, starting with:
As for the rest, I'm pretty content to leave them up to JK or whoever's writing...it's always interesting to see what they come up with. (not a big fan of slash or draco/hermione thou)
I don't have much to put about Percy Jackson at this point, but I definitely loved the books. Great world and some very amusing characters. Rick Riordan really perked my interest and imagination with Camp Half-Blood and the demigods and I'm currently delving into that fandom a bit further.
Percy/Annabeth is the best of the pairing bunches for me right now, but Rachel/Nico amuses me too.
I leave you with this thought for the day:
I Corinthians 9:24-27
"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."
