I started writing fanfiction because I couldn’t find a story to my taste at one point in the summer of 2022. The main reason, though, was that I always wondered why people bothered writing stuff when reading was so much faster and easier. So, I tried it.

It was quite the experience and much more fun than I had imagined, but also much harder than I thought it would be. English is not my first language and I learned that writing it is so much harder than reading!

I took one of the many ‘what-if’ scenarios that I had entertained in the back of my mind while reading other stories and ran with it. The ‘one-shot’ (Hogwarts has had enough) which I started as a test run became an arc of five mostly multi-chaptered stories, which I posted on another archive (one that is offline right now).

All my stories play in the Harry Potter Fandom, right now, which I don’t own (obviously) and am making no money of.

What I often remark on in the notes is, that in my imagination most of the characters look like JKR described them in the books. So, most of the adults look about 20 years younger for example. That doesn’t mean I don’t like the actors. Most are awesome. I just read the Books first and had different looks for them in my mind. So, in my stories, the characters look like described in the books.

And one more thing. Writing stories, myself explained so, so much to the reader in me. For example, how easy it is to forget a thing described three chapters ago and write about it once more. I had often wondered why Harry received e.g., about five necklaces during the course of one (long) story before. Didn’t the author remember that Harry already wore one? Or four? No. Because it was such a small detail written about like a year ago. But as a reader, who is much quicker, it seems very strange. As a fanfiction writer not so much.

Oh, and fair warning. Dumbledore never really gets away unscathed in my stories. In my mind, he is a manipulative puppet master at best and a second Dark Lord at worst. And other characters tend to get bashed as well, like Molly and Minerva, but not always. Sirius and Severus can go both ways, but they often insist that I make them into the good guys. Not that easy, let me tell you.

And last but not least humor seems to sneak into my stories sometimes too, even if that wasn’t planned at all.

Uh, it looks like I need to issue a couple more warnings. First and foremost, I don't write love-stories. There might be some pairings, here and there, but they will never the main focus of a story and there will be little of any lovey-dovey stuff, I think. And those pairings can be f/m or m/m. So feel warned. But there will only ever be a kiss at the most, if the story makes it absolutely necessary.

I will not warn about it if there is a possible m/m relationship hinted at in a story or a couple sits at a breakfast table while talking. In one of my stories Harry is at least bi. In others he is hetero and in most he is too little to care. So, if you feel uncomfortable about it, please read with caution. :)
