Author has written 4 stories for Chronicles of Narnia.
Important note to all of my readers: Even though I've now been a college student for a while now and haven't written anything but school papers and essays for at least that long (sorry sorry sorry!), I fully intend to finish every story I have posted so far. I know that I have not updated two of them in a very long time, and the updates on the other one have been few and sporadic, but please don't give up on them. I promise to finish them, and feel free to yell at me anytime to update them. (Just please don't be rude about it!)
Greetings, and welcome to my profile page!
I am Lady Jill Pole, and here is where I shall proceed to tell you some things about myself and what I believe.
I have a personal relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. (In other words, I am a Christian.)
I am staunchly pro-life.
I adore books.
Chocolate (especially of the truffle variety!) is something I love.
I miss my golden retriever, Joey Golden Bear (May 8, 1999 - June 9, 2011).
My family consists of my parents; my twin sisters; my two brothers; our mischievous Black and Tan Coonhound, Bandit; my sister's Netherland Dwarf rabbit, Autumn; and my African Pygmy hedgehog, Lucy. (I named her after the Narnian Queen, but she acts more like the Peanuts character.) Why yes, folks, we are a regular circus! ;)
I am the eldest of my siblings.
I am usually quiet and reserved when in a public situation with strangers or people I don't know very well.
I am trying to become more outgoing.
Most things I write tend to end up longer than I originally intend them to be. (Hence the chapters in TBF that are over 4000 words long...)
Crocheting, knitting, sewing, jewelry-making, drawing, writing... these are some things I enjoy doing.
Horseback riding is a skill I am currently learning. I am enjoying every minute of it!
When I am ready for marriage, I will begin courtship with a man who has a strong, growing personal relationship with the Lord. In other words, I have made the decision to not date recreationally. Any relationship I develop with any boy at this time will be a friendship. You may call me old-fashioned or call me weird; I am fully aware this is not the cultural norm in America right now, and quite frankly, I believe that if it was, many teenagers would be spared much unnecessary heartache. I only wish and pray that more of our society's youth would realize this.
I am a supporter of adoption... it is a beautiful picture of how God takes us into his family when we put our faith in him.
I am adventurous. I love whitewater river rafting and ziplining, and someday I may bungee-jump. (As of yet, I haven't been presented with the opportunity to do the last.) Exploring in the woods is a wonderful way to spend a day, and even more so if you have family members or friends with you. :)
I love to travel and see new places, and in the summer of 2010 I had the opportunity to cross my beautiful country's border to Canada. However, my first "real" trip out of the country was in April, 2011, when I flew overseas with my cousin (Queen Su) and my grandma to London, England and Israel. Throughout my life, I have travelled extensively within the U.S.A., having visited or driven through well over half of the individual states.
I don't like trying new food when I'm eating out. I usually find one or two things that I like at a restaurant, and then order the same thing every time I go.
I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!! And as far as I'm concerned, anyone who lives in this country and is ashamed of it can go move to a different one.
I would describe myself as a good balance between a girly-girl and a tomboy. I love to dress up, look nice, and do "girly" things. However, I am not afraid of mice, don't have to call on my dad or my brother to dispatch the occasional creepy-crawly (I'll take care of that spider myself, thank you very much!), and don't mind doing things that would make me sweat or get messy.
Chivalry is a trait that I think is underappreciated in our society.
Peregrine falcons and penguins are my favorite birds. A bit different from each other, aren't they? :)
I love to take pictures of the sky. The sky is God's canvas, and he is always creating a new work of art for the world to see. Gorgeous cloud formations and stunning sunsets are so much fun to capture on my digital camera! (I have yet to catch a sunrise; I'm rarely up early enough...)
Books and authors that I have enjoyed and would recommend... Fictional Books: The Dragons in Our Midst and the Oracles of Fire series by Bryan Davis, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, The Dragon Keeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul, and June Bug by Chris Fabry. Authors: All of the afore-mentioned authors, Bodie and Brock Thoene (they've written a lot), Sigmund Brouwer, G. A. Henty, and Terri Blackstock. For non-fictional books, I recommend Radical by David Platt, Crazy Love by Francis Chan, and Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris. And of course, last but certainly not least, the Bible.
I am a perfectionist, and I believe the trait is both a gift and a curse.
Procrastination is, unfortunately, one of my greatest weaknesses.
I love music, and I love to sing. I can play the piano, and I'm learning to play the ocarina. Someday I hope to take guitar lessons.
The music on my iPod is a mix of soundtracks, instrumental albums, and a large variety of songs by Christian artists, including, but not limited to: Luminate, Caleb, Krystal Meyers, TobyMac, Bethany Dillon, Bluetree, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Addison Road, Britt Nicole, Sanctus Real, MIKESCHAIR, Chasen, Superchick, and Hawk Nelson.
I'm not sure how I would describe my writing style. I enjoy doing dialogue (sometimes I think I do too much of it). I haven't written much action yet, but that should crop up soon in TBF, so we'll see how that goes. I'm decent at description. My favorite punctuation mark is probably the comma; I have a feeling that I actually use it too much when I write. I edit and proofread my own writing (I don't have a beta). My writing usually has perfect spelling (one of my strengths, and I always use spellcheck just in case) and my grammar is usually pretty clean as well. Sometimes I like to take ideas for my stories from things that have happened in my life or a family member's.
My favorite cartoon character is Snoopy from Peanuts, and I have enough Peanuts shirts to wear a different one every day for more than a week! (Actually, probably more like two weeks...)
I like to fish, and I'll even put the worm on the hook. I draw the line at breaking one of the squirming creatures in half, though... that's a job my dad can do for me. :)
Only two movies have ever made me cry: The Christmas Shoes and Hachi. As for books, well, quite a few have made me tear up!
I am a Biblical Creationist.
A thing I will not write about: the Caspian/Susan romance. It never happened in C.S. Lewis's book. I will tolerate it in the movie; it's a great movie, I loved it, and the romance in the movie was minimal. However, that does not mean I will write Suspian.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy any and all of the stories that I write. They are fun to do!
Thank you, and God bless! :)
Lady Jill Pole
(Oh, by the way, please check out my sisters' pages and stories: QueenSwanWhite and Queen Lu; also, my dear cousin is on here, too: Queen Su. You can also check out Queen Su's brother's page, but KireKhane Faerring currently has nothing on his profile and no stories written. However, he does have an awesome avatar! One of my best friends has recently joined as well; you will find her under the name annabeth22.)
