Author has written 45 stories for Voltron.
I never thought I would call myself a writer...but I guess I am one now. Back in September 2008 I got sick and in between naps I found an episode of Voltron on the cartoon networks. I hadn't watched this in years and decided to look stuff up and found this wonderful site filled with stories...soon a couple of stories came to me and I decided to try to write them down. I've been hooked on writing ever since. You will notice my earlier stories have horrible grammar issues/spelling issues, you name it, I probably did it wrong. Maybe at some point I'll go back and fix them...or maybe they will simply stand testiment to what I've learned in the last couple of years. Writing is definitely a learning process...one I still haven't mastered. But with each story, I'm getting better and better. :)
Every few stories, I get a review from someone complaining that I don't write in past tense. So I've decided to explain my writing technique here. Anyone who has followed me from the beginning knows I write present tense. To understand that, you have to realize, when I read a book, all I focus on is the story. I don't pay attention to tense, use of metaphors or other writing techniques. I might notice an error here and there, but for the most part, when I'm reading a book all I see is the story in my mind. It runs like a movie. A story is happening as I read it, not in the past. So when I started writing...I wrote that way. Sorry if it bothers or inconveniences any readers, but I don't plan on changing my writing style anytime soon.
Another interesting fact might be that I don't write a story in order. I have made several friends on this site and a lot of them write a story beginning to end. That is how they see it as they write it. I don't...there are some stories that I've started with something in the middle or have written out the end and then work my way back. One day I might write a scene for the middle section, the next day I work on the beginning and the following I'm back in the middle again. I write whatever scene is foremost in my mind at that particular moment.
For those friends that asked for my writing advice, I've created a blog on wordpress. Look for SMertz74. wordpress.com (remove space between words) if you're interested in reading the posts. I don't pretend to be an expert, use it as you wish.
At a fan's request, I put HEA: Sodalis Vitae on Inkitt for a contest. If you'd like to vote/review, I'd appreciate it! You'll find it under Writing Contests, Fandom2.
