Please take my stories from 2008-2009 with a grain of salt. They're a mixed bag in terms of quality.
Hello, my name is No Sleep Until Vacation. I used to write fanfiction that was trying to be good when (in my opinion) it was actually terrible enough to be considered troll fic. Now, I've deleted what I consider to be the cream of the crud, and quite frankly, I couldn't be happier. I take my writing more seriously now.
If you're wondering about my username, I got it from a song called "No Sleep Until Clear" which is about Mega Man. (Though I do like the Beastie Boys...) Also, it's easier to sleep in than to wake up early.
So yeah, hope you like my stories.
And just so I don't get in trouble...
I don't own anything that's been officially trademarked or copyrighted, and I write these stories for fun, not to make any sort of profit whatsoever. Figured I might as well say it here and save myself the trouble of putting it in every single story.
I'm also on Archive of Our Own: http://archiveofourown.org/users/NoSleepUntilVacation/pseuds/NoSleepUntilVacation
My current projects:
Heroes Wear Green: A story about Datirimon from the last episode of Digimon Adventure 02, and how he becomes a hero. 12/50 chapters completed. I update when I feel like it, though I at least try to update once a month.
A Digital Cinderella Story: It's Cinderella, but a little different than most versions. And Mummymon's the main character. 8/11 chapters completed. Guaranteed to update every year on November 13th for my friend's birthday, but I am trying to finish it soon. I may rewrite the earlier chapters, but it's not set in stone either way.
The rest of The Datiriverse: It's gonna be about 300 chapters total. Don't worry, it's four stories that are around 50 chapters each (Heroes Wear Green being one of them, with the others called "Heroes Wear Green Again", "Heroes Wear Green Three Times Over", and "Silk Bandage Serenade"), and the rest of the stories are broken up into more manageable chunks. (Admittedly, though, I'm not sure if I'm going to cut down on the number of chapters, or I'm just going to make shorter ones; I may have bitten off more than I can chew by opting to make 50 long chapters for each fic.)
Paper Mario: After the Shadows: A series of four-parters detailing what each of Mario's partners did after the events of "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door". I probably won't write this soon, since while I have the basic plots for each story, I still need to work out the details for the stories (some need more work than others).
Digimon Misadventure 02: Basically, this one is "Digimon Adventure 02: The Spoof". Everyone's just a little bit crazier, the plots are wackier, and there are lots of songs. (This one might be an AO3 exclusive; haven't decided yet. And I'm not sure if I want to write about all the episodes, or just the key episodes.)
The history of my FFN career:
When I first joined this site as Lady Lilane in October of 2008, the first thing I wrote was a parody of the Sonic Underground theme song. From there, I spent the rest of the month writing Kirby stories with varying degrees of success. On Halloween, I published my first Digimon story, and with it came a deluge of mediocre fics where the villains from the first two seasons were randomly good, the Digidestined were portrayed as not entirely "with it", and there were some random angel digimon who were either jerks or idiots. The majority of those fics have been deleted, but there are still a few. On the side, I wrote some Mario stories taking place within the Paper Mario universe (and particularly centering around characters from Super Paper Mario, while including other characters from the rest of the series). I think those came out better than the Digimon fics did, hence why, as far as I can remember, I haven't deleted any Mario fics (except for the one that was a Digimon crossover). Also, I dabbled in Pokemon fics a little.
In 2010, I started taking my writing much more seriously. I don't quite remember what the catalyst was, but whatever it was, it left an impact on me. From then on, I was done with LOLRANDOM crackfics, villains being given the Draco in Leather Pants treatment, randomly kicking around characters who didn't deserve it, and stuff like that. But also around this time, my writing began to slow down. I rarely wrote anything, instead preferring to read stories and post on forums.
2011 and the first part of 2012 are where my writing drought was at its most severe. The only things I wrote were new chapters for ADCS whenever my friend celebrated her birthday, and I think I also wrote a poem. In February of 2011, to signify that I was a much different person now than when I started, I changed my handle from "Lady Lilane" to "No Sleep Until Vacation" and changed my avatar from a Sneasel-Azumarill-Buizel-Mew thing to the island sunrise picture you see in that box above. Later, in March, I first got the idea for the story that would later become Heroes Wear Green. It went through several revisions before it became the story I published in 2013. However, 2012 was likely the year that helped stop my drought, as that was when I published Dear Fanfiction Writers, my most popular story to date (nearly 22k views at the time of writing this description).
Finally, near the end of 2013, on my fifth anniversary of publishing Donut Underground, I published Heroes Wear Green. I plan on The Datiriverse (the series this story is the first part of) to be my magnum opus. When I published that fic, the drought was officially over. Not only did I update my multi-chaptered fics more often, but I wrote more one-shots, too. My FFN career has been a twisted ride so far, but as I keep improving, I'm sure that there will be many good times ahead.
