Author has written 3 stories for Superman, Harry Potter, and Baldur's Gate.
I'm just a guy writing a story or two for fun.
Age: North of 30.
I have more university degrees and letters after my name than is probably healthy.
I've been a fan of Superman for as long as I can remember.
I discovered Harry Potter a few years ago, and he has since become the major focus of my fanfic perusals.
I firmly believe that our world needs heroes.
And yes, I really do own and wear that hat.

A Note About My Writing and Fan Fiction in General
One of the things that bothers me most about reading fan fiction is when characters act in a way that is simply unnatural. I’m not talking about being out of character, but rather doing things in a manner that is foreign to the human experience. There are underlying psychological, emotional, and (every once in a while) logical reasons for why people do the things that they do. For example, people tend to generally listen to and follow figures in authority. Rebellion is rare. We like to be part of the group – it gives emotional security - getting singled out is bad. People get angry all the time, but decisions made in anger rarely work out well. Nothing is ever more disastrous than “following your heart,” etc. Characters in (fan) fiction are allowed to do fantastic things - use magic, ride dragons, travel the stars - but they always need to act, react, and emote like human beings. Writing characters that fulfill this criterion is one of my main objectives.
A Few Story Notes
Harry Potter and the Ranger and the Miniature Giant Space Hamster is meant to be a (hopefully) humorous, crack!fic/out-take/omake alternative to HP & KoRH. In a review of HP & KoRH, someone requested a scene where Harry and Hedwig did some dialogue like Minsc and Boo from the Baldur’s Gate series. If you don’t know who Minsc and Boo are, you’re missing out on two of the greatest characters in RPG history, IMHO. Anyways, I didn’t think that Harry could realistically start talking like Minsc, but I did get an idea for a scene: what if things had gone a bit differently and instead of Keldorn, a different character was brought to Hogwarts from the Forgotten Realms? And then I had an idea for a second scene. And then I thought that maybe having an omake at the end of a chapter might disrupt the flow of the original story. So I decided to remove it from HP & KoRH and give it its own fic! Don’t look for silly things like storylines or plots or consistency. Boo says that Heroes do not need such things! This will probably be more scattered than Minsc after one too many blows to the head! Who knows, if people seem to like it, maybe I’ll continue with episodic snippets of Minsc and Boo and Harry and friends.
Or maybe I’ll have other silly ideas to add. Who knows? I sure don’t! Maybe Boo does. I should ask him…
If YOU have any ideas for scenes you’d like to see, let me know in a review. If I can see a way to make it work, I might just write it up.
Please note that the chapters are posted in no particular order - I'm just putting them up as I think of them. Therefore, don't look too hard for any type of continuity or chronology. There's only the general concept. Unless otherwise noted, of course.
Reading HP & KoRH is encouraged, but probably not required for following the story.
Harry Potter and the Knight of the Radiant Heart is the fruit of many years of reading fan fiction. In particular, it comes from the fact that after years of reading, it was becoming harder and harder for me to find good, well-written stories that I enjoyed. So I decided to write my own. That is the primary reason for this story’s existence. I try very hard to have my characters, especially Harry and Hermione, act in a natural way. They might not always be logical (but then again, human beings rarely are) but I hope that anyone reading would be able to say, “Yeah, people really do act like that.”
I've decided that I'm going to start going through the story an remove many of the clunky, unnecessary author's notes. They just get in the way of reading the story. Anything that I think is still helpful for clarification will be moved to my forums. I'll also post a few review responses to particular concerns about the story in the forum as well. As for Discernment, I was new to fan fiction and I got excited and just had to write something. It's not very good. It's based on a story arc in the Superman comics called "For Tomorrow" from 2004-2005. In it, Superman is looking for advice and talks to a priest. But the priest ends up transforming into some kind of killer robot at the end because comic books. I thought that was silly and I wondered what would really happen if Superman went to speak with a priest. Thus, Discernment. I think it’s a bit heavy-handed overall. If you’ve got nothing better to do, give it a read, just know that your mileage may vary.
Nothing that you have not given away will ever be really yours.
