Fanfiction & Appreciation
I started writing fanfiction 10 years ago when I was a dramatic high school freshman who wrote poems in my head about people and was obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbean. I had unrealistic ideas about love and relationships and had a very loose grasp on grammar. After a decade one this website, I realized what a gift it is to learn how to write, have confidence in writing, and and enjoy the practice as well. Now, I'm a busy part-time college student who probably needs to focus on my career instead of hours on fanfic. But this is a hobby I can't shake even if it does go on the back burner for a little while.
I am always grateful for reviews on my stories and everyone who shares these characters and journeys with me. I'd never pressure anyone into writing a review or call someone 'rude' for not leaving a comment. Yet, as I get older, I realize how precious fanfic is. Fic authors and fanart artists create content for free. They do so in their free time, between classes, or between shifts at work. One time long ago, that would have meant nothing to me. But now I see how fleeting time is. We could spend our time (hours and hours and hours) doing anything else. This is a favor we are doing for you. So please, treat fic authors kindly and with patience. And, if you love a story, no matter how old it is, or how few reviews it has, please take a moment to write a little something up. Or else, it feels as though us authors might as well be shouting into the void. Keep your favorite fanfic alive and a spare a review. And my endless gratitude to those of you who do so. Thank you for the appreciation.
About my currently unfinished stories
I am complete trash at starting and continuing stories. Oh well! This is just my hobby. I try and dedicate myself as much as I can to Grape Soda and Clan since those have more people waiting for an updates... but all the others might just remain as they are. Which I don't think is laziness or a sign of a neglectful author. I look at this site more as an archive of ideas. I'm glad they've inspire other authors (cough, cough Beast's Castle) since hey, we're all here to learn from each other. Anyways, in this coming year, I plan on just writing and thinking of time and commitment later. If a story sticks with me, then it sticks. But this is FanFic, I don't do this full time, and this is just how it is! I'm keeping these stories up to act a living notebook and reminders of my progress in writing.
