Author has written 5 stories for Inuyasha, Sailor Moon, Doctor Who, and Yu Yu Hakusho.
Hi, ive been here for awhile.
I recently posted something off fanfiction i wanted to share, about what is and is fan art.
Fan art, people may need clarification. if it is someone else's original idea(such as original characters they themselves have already drawn or written about in some way, a story or book you have read, a series you have watched, a movie you have seen), by copy right law all of it is not yours but belonging to them... and if you draw it, its fan art. They don't NEED a copyright but if you have a copyright its basically insurance of a kind. Basically your legal fees are hella less as they are already payed by your continued 'donation' to the government to keep your copyright. Its glorified insurance however under the law, what does not have a copyright is not a free for all.
Most people know what fan art is, however not everyone knows ALL of what it means or that it means EVEN IF THEY DON"T HAVE A COPYRIGHT FOR IT. The law still says its their own original idea and therefore if they take your ass to court with proof they came up with it first and you stole their idea, your ass is grass so please make sure all fan art is labeled as fan art and crediting the original author, artist, show, name of story etc etc etc etc. Then we can all see or read what your talking about. Fan art when done right is basically free advertising and celebrating of the ideas artists or writers and even directors have done, but it can also be a place to imagine our own concepts in this as well, such as in fan fiction(hence why fan fictions themselves get a lot of fan art:some of them are so wonderfully done that if the writter took out all the characters they wrote it using and inserted their own originals it would be its own really really good novel-I dare say better than she who wrote twilight though i have nothing negative to say about her story, it was about an unhealthy obsessive relationship but thats relatively normal for that age group and for the situations the two characters were in... people complain a lot about her grammar though. As a writer myself i defend her in the story and character development aspects. Psychologically speaking, its all very appropriate and how many teen relationships go minus the vampires and werewolves... also why parents and guardians aren't exactly thrilled when their teen children 'fall in love', many are different but many are also not. The writer was originally a fan fiction writer with a large fan base though as far as i know the entire story itself is her entire original idea even away from her fan fictions, and no i don't know which fan fiction writer she is, i just belong to a vast community of fan fiction writers and know she is one, have heard of her but never asked which one was her speaking as everyone has a special fan fiction penname that doesn't give away who they are if you find them through their fanfiction and not through some other way-ie: if they post about their fanfiction account though me personally i keep it separate for the most part and rarely bring mine up). Anyway, if its not yours, its fan fiction or fan art, both are considered to be fan art though using different genres(though if its inspired by and not actually using those ideas its still good policy to say 'inspired by' and what inspired you if it was someone elses work though in that case its considered a grey area, if you say inspired by and it still used their ideas and is more a fanfiction or fan art... they can still argue with you that it infringes their writes so i do advocate going over it afterwards and making sure its not an inspired by that looks like the original though in the event its one fan art inspired by another fan art this usually isn't an issue to worry about anyway unless it looks exactly like it, though some original creators are just dicks that will go after everyone and everything so as you may have noticed as an example NOTHING says 'inspired by harry potter' as the writer even went after children playing hop scotch with '2 3/4' as one of their boxes to jump on-though in true hypocrite fashion she admits to looking to fanfiction for ideas during the course of the series and interviews yet never once does she credit which fan fictions inspire her or that she used the ideas from, which is a courtesy all writers should give even if the law would grant them no rights because it was a fan fiction of her work to begin with-its just a courtesy we generally afford one another if we are considered ethical by the rest of the fan fiction community and her doing that was both an honor to the fan fiction writers and an insult after how she went all 'my idea' nazi on people for so even a children's game of hop scotch: however even if nobody has ever heard of what it is because your sister came up with a story and never published it. If its fan art, its fan art. Also, for writers who feel insecure and don't want to publish their works scared it won't be liked fan art and the like actually helps them while letting others know by posting it or sharing it, that you find their work warranting a fan art.
A fan art however, is classified as said. Examples vary, and are vast all around... however, fan art is fan art. If you did it on someone else's story, original character, and so on and so forth as outlined above, its fan art.
Due to recent events and some older instances alike i feel the need to say this.
Any reviews that do not pertain to the story or a subject IN the story, or that are simply tear downs instead of constructive, will be removed.
If you want to abuse anonomous reviews being enabled you are sadly mistaken.
Now, for non story related things, please pm me or create an account to pm me. Do not air whatever misconception you might have in the review section of my stories.
And for the anonomous reviewer who claimed i was psyco and all that other crap, please keep it to yourself. Your tear downs not only have no basis in reality but as a woman who has ptsd, i have had many psyciatrists over the years who would disagree with you. So, in short go svrew yourself. It's worse that you claimed i was younger than i am to begin with. I've frequented this site since i was a teen but i am no teen. I've long been an adult. A mature, functioning, adult. Stfu. Gtfo. That doesn't mean I don't know how to have an old fashioned internet verbal spar. Hell, you'd probably blow a gasket if faced with a "troll" from when it was a way to air facts, not bully people. I used to be one of them. Anyway, a lot of adults still use the site and read from it cuz it has the largest, most diverse fanfiction database. So again, stfu and next time, come up with something intelligent to say instead of unimaginative insults that have no basis in reality and make no sense. Just you thinking your so big and bad cuz you can post anonomous reviews talking shit. -_- so... who is the child? Because no matter what age you are THAT is both mean and childish.
Second review i removed...
Ok, i get that you apparently didn't like that the shit I talked about when you said how your cousin died was touchy but please check context before you blow up. I knew, so i put in both context and intent as clearly and delicately as possible.
If it happened that way, your cousin was lucky. A lot did not happen that way. In many ways the Iraqi war happened in a way one might compair to the Korean war from our history, only with more needless civilian casualties. That last part nearly drove an old friend of mine, someone i spent four years in high school with before he was deployed, insane. He was suicidal and unstable already because of his first deployment. They sent him back out like that. You NEVER send someone who WANTS to die to the battlefield because they make mistakes that lead to the deaths of themselves and those counting on them. It's quite basic and important but happened to a lot of people.
Now, my family has been military longer than this country has existed as a country or a colony. We can be traced back to the colonial days in both my grandparents bloodlines right down to one pulled off the streets of london on my grandmother's side who jumped ship as soon as he got here because freedom was worth fighting for, oppression was not. Many of my relatives did not sign up specifically because they were not willing to be apart of that tyranny. It was not what the propaganda said it was and it involved a lot of innocent lives lost (though denied or downplayed)and forcing our countries beliefes snd currently sewered sense of 'freedom'. It is the first war this country has fought that none of us were part of.
Your cousin was lucky then, because no one i knew or have or do know who went to Iraq has a story like that to tell.
Now, to be clear I have nothing but respect for our troops. Both my parents were navy(my dad a seal, my mom just normal navy), my grandfather was a Green Beret, my uncle was an engineer who worked on stuff that got him bared from traveling out of country for damn near twenty years to prevent intelligence leaks, and the only reason i didn't join is because i can't. Otherwise i would have at least joined the reserves do be an active participant in rescue situations and whatnot, but physically i can't and will never be able to. For me it's not the weight like a cousin of mine got denied for. My fiancé served im the Army before the Iraq war. I have medical problems that prevent and have always, will always prvent me from serving. I can't march, will never be able to even do things they do in basic. I am physically disabled. So, please do not assume. I would never dishonor the fine men and women who serve like that, doesn't mean I have to agree with the white washing or the situations the brass puts those fine young men and women in. Doesn't mean i have to like what goes on or how our people are getting screwed either. I can't sign up, tried despite everything when i was younger. Wanted to help keep my friends alive. Moxy doesn't get you in. Anyway, i am under no obligation that prevents me from bitching about the brass or the situations that were created(most avoidable with simply tactical maneuvering) that left people i love questioning why they even were still alive when those children died, why they fought people who tried protecting their own countries people, why guns were handed to more bad guys, why things weren't done right, why they overstayed their welcome for some pompous politicians agenda.
I have nothing but respect for our troops. Its the brass and the politics involved that made that one go south. A lot of good people suffered because of the mistakes of the brass, so... why would i respect them? They made elememtary mistakes and i would venture to say perhaps greed clouded the judgment of our then commander in chief. He was so busy playing toy soldier he forgot they weren't toys it seems.
So, nothing but respect for our troops. Not so much for the bullshit you find higher up, the whitwashing, or any of the other crap that went on and still goes on.
Do, either create an account and use pm next time or don't message or simply don't say anything at all. Communication is not one sided. Don't disrespect people in general by doing crap like that. Man up and face it, don't try leaving sn anonymous, and misleading to anyone who didnt know what was originally said, "review". Some things can be aired publicly, if you are going to then include everything, not the parts you want people to see. That my dear is politics, it is also why i hate politics.
