Author has written 16 stories for Harry Potter, Twilight, Star Wars, Doctor Who, and Magicians.
My FanFic- name was MissyMoJo, which was made from the first letters in my first and middle names. After realizing that people might get the wrong idea without this information, I decided I needed to change my pen name. I chose ParadoxPixie, trust me, it fits my personality. I am a lot less obsessed with Fanfiction these days- having much less time for it with my job and real life taking over.
This is a picture of me & my husband as he proposed at a comic convention on the set of a mock up of the TNG bridge. Right after we heard a presentation from Patrick Stewart. (how awsome is Star Trek Picard?)
My profile may be long, but it is useful and I have tried to shorten it. There is this intro with info about me, about my writing and Stories, and about what is in My Favorites list.
It's impossible to correctly edit your own work. When checking it you will see what you expect to see, not what is there. You wrote it, you know what it is supposed to say so your mind tells you that's what is there, and you will miss the mistakes. So thanks to my best friend and BETA, Jordan K. West, for all her hard work! She writes on this site, with that pen name, so check her stuff out.
I'd say the best part about being an author, besides getting the chance to express yourself and see your ideas take shape, is the fan mail. In the case of FF, it's the reviews! So Review.
I am first and foremost a fan of Star Wars. Despite the hundreds of novels out there and my previous words to the contrary, I have added it to my fan fiction explorations. Fan fiction can do the things traditional novels cannot, like time travel or what ifs?.
I also like Star Trek, especially The Next Generation. But I do not read the books, nor do I read much ST fanfiction.
On Fan fiction I love Harry Potter the most. That's what I started with and will always come back to.
I have fallen out of love with Twilight. Experiencing love for myself makes those characters much less favorable to me.
I am also a big fan of the British TV series "Doctor Who". It is a science-fiction series, and that is my favorite genre. I have been reading Doctor Who fan fiction lately and I'm even writing in that series as of 2012. It has quickly risen to the top of my most obsessed about series.
Lord of the Rings is good too, but despite my love of reading I had trouble reading these books (the print and format on my copy made my eyes hurt) so I'm a movie only fan, currently anyway. :-(
My Stories: what I'm writing
Normally I don't work on anything regularly. Don't expect it.
I Never Promised You A Rose Garden: This is my new Doctor Who big project. I just got started and am really excited about it. It's a Ten/Rose fic. But I am starting at the beginning, back in Series 1 when they met and going through and putting them together slowly. All the little things that could have led to them together, I'm gonna use that to push them together. Plus see what happens behind the scenes and between the episodes. It's gonna be great. It will eventually lead to a "Series 3 with Rose" fic, my way! Even I don't know what's gonna happen!
Due to a review I have another comment. My story is NOT a transcript of the series. You will find the thoughts of the characters, and chapters about events that did not happen in the show or books! More to the point, as the story gets further into the series I will be changing more and more with every episode! However, I am a stickler for detail. To this end as I write I actually Watch the episode over again, second by second, with subtitles on (I'm hearing impaired anyway), to be sure all the quotes I do use are 100% accurate and spelled correctly. Try to find someone else so good. But don't worry, I still let my characters shape the story themselves. "The Unquiet Dead" had so many alterations and additions it took a week to write.
They Always Survive: My first DOCTOR WHO fan fic. No matter how many times The doctor thinks he's seen the last of the Daleks he always finds that one survived and rebuilt an army. He lost Gallifrey and destroyed the Daleks, and The Emperor survived. Then they met the Cult of Skaro; and he sent them into the Void losing Rose in the process. Still they survived to plague him in Manhattan 1930. Still one survived to rebuild a Dalek army to attempt to destroy reality. And when he defeated them, he still ran into one last ship that manages to trick him into helping rebuilding to be stronger than ever. See All those Dalek Episodes ans encounters from "Dalek" series 1, to "Victory of the Daleks" series 5, from the Doctors point of view.
WITH all my focus now on ROSE GARDEN I do not plan to do any work on any other story as of right now.
A Vampire Beginning: I'm sorry, I just don't know what I'm going to do with it, or when I'll get back to it. At this point I'm looking for a way to quickly wrap it up. I'm gonna try to do that soon.
Unwelcome Kiss: may be taking a drastic turn from original intentions. Because of a change I made in chapter one it threw events in chapter two off and I forgot how I was going to fix that; or rather I no longer liked the way the conversation went in that case. I'm thinking I may have to undo my change. I'm also thinking that I may do all cases of violence against Jake. In one chapter Edward will hit him, in the next Charlie will shoot him, in the next Emmett and Jasper will rip him apart, on so on. What do you think?
Heart-to-Heart. That was one of those "answer the door!" types and if I didn't I'd never get anything else knocking either. Updates will come will the door knocks again- despite the ideas I had when I wrote chapter 1 the door has been quiet so far.
Regrets is a tragic fic that will have a happy-ish ending. Chapter 2 was just posted. I am working on chapter 3 here and there. I'm not reading Twilight right now so it is hard to be in the writing Twilight mind-set either. I'm considering re-simplifying it.
Potter’s Daughters: I’ve not forgotten this story, or where I’m taking it. The problem merely comes with merging where I left off and where my mind has been writing the next scene. And that's the part I hate and where a lot of problems can come with this story. Often I try to rush the scene and it comes out crappy so I need to wait it out. I just don't know when I will get back to writing this.
Kneobi's Certain Point of View: My first Star Wars fic. If you haven’t guessed it will cover Obi-Wan’s explanation to Luke about his father and how he came up with it. I don’t think he was lying, I think Obi-Wan had told himself that Vader wasn’t Anakin so many times between Mustafar and then that it was truth to him. And that is what he meant by "Certain Point of View", and I think it is clear Luke also chose to think of Vader and Anakin as two different people. Luke's words to Vader later on in RotJ, "Then my father is truly dead." and the whole conversation shows he is not accepting Vader as his father, just that he understands Vader was once his father.
Other Ideas: I am now considering writing the story I can’t find written by anyone else. A time-travel where Jedi Grand-Master Luke Skywalker (the one who has trained many Jedi, who is married to Mara, who has re-founded a Jedi Council, etc.) goes back in time during the Clone Wars and meets Jedi Master Yoda. They can compare their different Jedi Orders. I'm not sure what the rest of the plot will be, I'm working on it. I don't want it to fall flat.
Or Old Jedi Order Masters Yoda, Kenobi, and Windu from around the last year of the Clone Wars find themselves at Luke's Jedi academy. This story would ignore everything after Dark Nest. I'm not sure I have the patience for writing this.
Or the Solo Siblings come back during “Shadows of the Empire” (Between Ep. 5 & Ep. 6: a 6 month interval) and help Luke finish his training- he needs a sparring partner!
My FAVORITES An idea of what sort of stories are in my favorites list.
First rule: If you see one story in my favorites list, you are very likely to see another just like it. I have probably read every "Series 3 with Rose" (Dr Who) fic there is. I have read every AU of Eclipse chapter15 (Twilight) there is that don't favor Jake. And many Independent Harry stories. You get the idea. I get stuck on a single theme and want to read every version...
The majority of my Favorites consists of Doctor Who and Harry Potter. Followed by Twilight and Star Wars, (there were more Twilight stories but many of my Favorites have been deleted over time, leaving me without much will to look for new ones). For a complete list of series see list at the bottom of my profile.
Very few All Human stories. My number 1 rule is: in no way can an AH story resemble the EVENTS of Twilight. I don't even want them in high school if its an All Human.
I love Twilight rewrites or AUs. Happier meetings, or continue "Midnight Sun" stories.
I also go for New Moon re-written, or AU. Like a different take on how Edward returned to Bella. I don't like Bella gives Edward a hard-time types (it may have been his fault but he still suffered just as she did).
I love Edward POV stories- who doesn't? Especially in New Moon, though I only read the parts for which Bella was there and skip the rest. I like to read the goodbye scene (I even wrote my own when I notice everyone skipped something I felt was crucial), and from the Phone Call forward.
I also love Eclipse from Edward POV an AUs, especially Jacob’s little kiss/assualt in chapter 15. I always want to see Edward hit Jacob, and he never does in POV nor in many AU. Thankfully the movie came closer to making me happy on this issue, it was nice to see Edward lose his temper at the MUTT and nearly but NOT hit him- perfect Edward protective but still a gentleman!
I have a great love of Time travel stories. I love to see Bella in 1918. So many stories are going to be like that.
Harry Potter =
I went through several phases when reading HP ff so there's a lot there. The following scenarios were favorites for a while. I am deleting the defs of the various scenarios since any fan will know what I mean.
Redo: I love Redos. Though it is not finished (but very long) Harry Potter and the Nightmares of Futures Past by S'TarKan is considered the authority on redo stories. Also good, and complete, are: Backward With Purpose Part I: Always and Always; the Second Chance series; Knowledge is Power (a must read), and Oh God Not Again! (a must read). The WIP/ Ab. Manipulating Fate is also great, if you accept it is not done before you start.
Independent Harry: Check out Taking Control by fake a smile, Dumbledore's Army & seq. by Bobmin356 ; Never Piss Off A Potter by Phantom1s, "Harry Potter and the Final Straw", and Harry Potter And The Summer Of Change by lorddwar. The incomplete ones are too good not to suggest: Harry Potter and the Power of Time, Ascension Of The Scorpion Sorcerer, and Harry Potter and the Story by Dad, a 7th year AU that is really good and still in progress! All are top picks.
Manipulative Dumbledore: Found in some Independent Harry stories.
I also suggest the following: Imogen work Carpe Diem and seq. Alpha and Omega.
I started off reading fan fiction from other sites and I've checked today to move any stories from those sites that are on to my favorites if they are worthy. Some however are not on this site. I'm going to give you a small list of the best stories to check out on other sites. Do to the restriction of no direct links will be provided. I trust you can infer the dots and can navigate a website's search engine! You can PM me otherwise!
First site is harrypotterfanfiction. dot. com
I recommend a few stories by minniemcmouse that are not on . All are Remus-Harry bonding with a parental relationship after Sirius is killed. An Alternate Ending; A New Beginning seq. to An Alternate Ending; and Harry Potter and the Hopefully Interesting Sixth Year.Yes, both take place 6th year and have several common themes but different plots.
Harry and the Changed Time Line by teddylonglong. Harry takes year 6 & 7 in the past. Warning: friendly young-Snape. Two sequels exist to this story- only read one. I will not say more b/c it gives the 1st story away. Both seq. have Harry back in his time.
Harry Potter and the Year of Surprises by erinpotter This story is too long to summarize.
To the Past, From the Future by Phoenix_Flames. It starts off with Harry trying to send Sirius an owl after he dies. It gets sent back 19 years... continues on past that Halloween and on to the point where Ron gets an owl from 19 years in the future after another tragic event occurred.
Now we come to Phoenix Song. I only have a few for this site.
This site has one of my absolute all time favorite stories and its very hard for anything to earn an "absolute favorite" award from me. “Great Scott, Potter, This is War!” by Aaran St Vines. It's a summer before 6th year AU, powerful Harry but he trains to get there. Read it, despite the WIP status. It has not been touched in 5 years. I'd skip the last chapter if I were you.
The Doctor Belongs with Rose! You will find absolutely no Handy / Ten.II episodes in my favorites. He is seen in a couple, but he always dies or something, except in one- but I was tricked! It was all well and good for the show, but I don't want to read about what happened next. As far as I'm concerned, Rose would STILL not have settled for a CLONE! He didn't have 2 hearts, ergo, he was NOT the Doctor!
Also, you will find no stories where he is happy and with River/Melody. I don't even like it in the Show. They got "married" in an alternate universe that never should have existed (as a ploy to fix Time?). Doesn't count! She carries guns, she's cocky, she's... Not Rose!
That is why I read, to find more Doctor/Rose. So there is plenty of it in my favorites. Lots and lots of Doctor/Rose. Not good for the Show, I know. Excellent for fanfiction!
TOP PICK for DOCTOR WHO:
"A GOLDEN ROSE"
"A LIFE WITH ROSE"- (the author is brilliant, read the rest of her DW stories!)
NEWDRWHOFAN- Author of many stories, check out the Series 3 rewrite
"Long and winding road"
"The Most important thing in the Universe"
See Favorites for more.
Final words are about Author Favorites:
To make my Author Favorites the author must have either a) written a story that is so good I feel that if others did not read it it is a crime. OR if ALL (or most in some cases), of the stories the author has written must be ones I would put in my favorites, and there must be more than one.
