I have changed my penname yet again - I can't say for sure how long this, or my avatar, will last!
Obligatory Warning about my Weird Ramblings. Don't say I didn't try and tell you.
In all honesty, majority of the stuff below is likely a load of pretentious twaddle coming from a very boring, weird, and over imaginative Welsh lass who should be doing something more constructive than reading and writing fan fiction. (Like revising for important exams.)
What can I say? Procrastination is a bitch.
If you want to know more about me, I've included some random stuff below - if you want to know more or just fancy a chat, feel free to drop me a line anytime. I don't bite. :)
Me, Myself and I:
I am an agnostic student midwife who loves liberal politics, floral tea dresses, vintage fashion, Rose wine, baking cakes, Swan Lake, cheerleading, bellydancing, Eevee, the Tudors, writing fiction, reading classical books and watching really crappy daytime TV.
Due to the nature of my course and the fact that a lot of writers write stories featuring pregnancy (and frequently get things wrong, but more on that later) I have included a definition of what a midwife is below - and also to say should anyone ever find themselves featuring pregnancy in their fanfic, and are perhaps unsure about something - any detail, no matter how insignificant - PM me. I am happy to anwser any question to the best of my ability. :)
Midwifery, the profession of a midwife, encompasses care of women during pregnancy, labour, and the postpartum period, as well as care of the newborn. It includes measures aimed at preventing health problems in pregnancy, the detection of abnormal conditions, the procurement of medical assistance when necessary, and the execution of emergency measures in the absence of medical help. World Health Organisation, 2012.
I try to get along with everyone - arguments are pointless and upsetting. Let's all be friends!
I dislike rude people. It doesn't kill you to be polite, so just do it. Please? =)
I won't be mean to you about your beliefs, so please show me the same courtesy.
I try to update as often as I can, but university, family, and friends are all cluttering up my life right now (in the nicest possible way of course.)
Pregnancy. It happens, people. Frequently in fanfiction, it would seem. I don't mind this - truly, I don't. When it comes to fanfiction, and fiction in general, there aren't many things I truly dislike - I find myself able to enjoy almost any story, provided it's well written. However, one thing that really grates my nerves like my mam's favourite cheese grater is when people don't take the time to research a topic they know nothing about - and plop it in their story anyway. I pick pregnancy in particular as my entire degree, and future career, is based on this one biological period of life - and therefore I feel a bit more confident preaching about people getting it wrong than I would, say, astro physics. (I will never attempt to preach on astro physics - ever). I don't mind so much people not knowing a lot about pregnancy - it tends to be one of those things that you're either passionate about, and make it part of your life's work to know as much as possible about (guilty!) or else you look more closely into it when you find yourself pregnant. (Most women who are pregnant). I don't even mind people not knowing every miniscule detail of really complicated intense medical stuff, like naming every single muscle of the pelvic floor, in correct order, as well as explaining their functions and what happens if things go wrong - I'm still learning myself, and I couldn't do that just yet (though I really should, what with exams coming up... damn you, procrastination!) But what annoys the heck out of me is people getting simple things wrong, when there is a whole world wide web out there with answers just a click away. Heck, in this case, Wikipedia IS your friend. Just... GOOGLE something. A little research never hurts - it makes your story more credible and therefore enjoyable. It's difficult to take a story seriously when big medical facts are just... plain wrong. Look at Revenge of the Sith, and Breaking Dawn. (Thank you Lucas, thank you Meyer. You have polluted the various fandoms with your pseudo biology a little more!) As I said above, I'd be perfectly happy to answer anything on pregnancy - provided I know it myself, of course. And if you can't ask, or don't want to, then for goodness' sake, RESEARCH. Puppies cry every time you fail to do this. Go watch Lady and the Tramp if you don't believe me, you sadist, you.
I despise Americanisms being used in (obviously) British stories. Harry Potter would not nip to the store, neither would he have a popsicle, and proceed to throw the stick in the trash can. If you are genuinley confused as to the equivalant of a word, again, research it. It is another one of my pet hates, and more puppies are crying. Do you want to be known as a puppy torturer?!
If someone is critical of your story, 98% of the time they are trying to help you. Yes, even flamers. So do yourself a favour. Learn to accept criticism. It's not a bad thing to make mistakes. Perfection is boring. Look at Edward from Twilight.
Your/You're: Their/they're - how many times have these been mixed up? Too many. Again - if you spot a mistake, edit it. Just because a story has been published does NOT mean you can never make changes to it.
Finally: If you see me guilty of any of the above crimes in my own writing, please let me know - they're just so irritating to me, and I have no desire to be a hypocrite. I would hate to think I was letting my stories lie there with mistakes so obvious to others - especially mistakes I myself despise.
Thank God those are out of the way. Now.. for my likes!
When it comes to stories, forums, etc, I like West-Side Story, Wuthering Heights, Thor, Avengers, Dr Who, Red Eye, Batman, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Les Miserables, Romeo and Juliet, Othello, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Gossip Girl, Wicked, Star Wars, Phantom of the Opera, Harry Potter, Xiaolin Showdown, Sweeney Todd, Oklahoma, and The Lion King. Actually, I like loads others, but putting them all down would be WAY too time-consuming.
Currently working on: Nothing at the moment - just struggling to get along with my degree. Might I add that hospital night shifts are great, but switching back from your zombie routine, not so much.

Random facts about me:
I talk too much. Oops.
I'm not as assertive as I would like to be - and I tend to feel guilty about stupid things.
I love walking by myself, talking and singing in my head.
Despite currently living in a pretty well known and big city (reluctant to give away exact location for obvious reasons) I really miss the beach.
I seem to have a "thing" for dark haired physcopathic characters... yeah, I don't get it either.
I DESPISE High School Musical.
I'm a fussy eater.
I love running in the rain - it not only helps you get rid of negative emotions, it really clears your mind, and lets you think about the important stuff.
I've read Romeo and Juliet so many times I've pretty much memorised Juliet's parts.
I really love mint choc-chip ice cream.
Important people: I have made some really great pals here on ff.net - and they deserve a mention; the majority of them, like me, are fellow West-Side Story obssessed fans: the brill-o viennacantabile, (who loves my British slang, and makes kick-ass icons xD), LazyChestnut (who I'm pretty sure has changed her pen-name by now) xXco0kieSsNcReamXx, (writes West-Side Story oneshots with HAPPY endings xD), and Megfly (creator of awesome OC in the West-Side Story RP, as well as making great speeches for banishing trolls =P). They are awesome. Check out their stories and profiles if you don't believe me. xD
That's pretty much all, I imagine I've bored you all enough by now. See you all around! Hwyl fawr!
