The Rough and Dirty
The profile says "Snowycats" but don't be fooled; those Y's and plural S' are no more than a pair of fake glasses and a comb-turned-mustache. Snowcat is my preferred UN and SnowstarX was the UN this account was first known as. I am female, college-age, and an aspiring history teacher. My fandoms wax and wane in intensity, but my biggest ones that I'm currently a part of are are Pokemon, Bionicle, Warriors, Transformers, Bioware, Brave Police, and Overwatch. My non-fandom interests consist entirely of tabletop roleplaying, so I am no stranger to the lore of Forgotten Realms or Golarion. High fantasy is my genre of choice and the higher it is the better. My inbox is always open so PMs about anything are always welcome.
I endeavor to leave thoughtful reviews that specifically highlight what I enjoyed about a chapter or fic. They tend to be rather lengthy, so if you'd like to respond to my review personally then I encourage you to PM me. Many authors have done this and it usually leads to longer discussions about the fic. I also try to make my reviews mostly positive if criticism isn't specifically requested or welcomed. I'm always happy to offer more critical feedback but I refrain from doing it indiscriminately because many authors write fanfiction as catharsis and don't need me to critique their fic super seriously when it was meant to be for fun. If you want more in-depth feedback to go with a review I gave your story then you only need to PM me and I'll do my best to deliver.
Old Fics, New Tricks
I remember finding this site in 2008. It was the first time I had truly entered into a "fandom" and I had spent the better portion of the year trying to stop myself from falling hard into Transformers. I can't remember what led me to reading my first fanfic, but if I've ever looked back it's been only in fondness. Suddenly all my interests that I thought I was weird for loving so much had fans just like me: people so inspired and enamored with fiction that they had to make up their own fiction about fiction. I've grown as a reader and writer since then. You'll notice that my first story, Doppelganger, is very old, very edgy, and very nothing as far as stories go. I thought about deleting it once-and-for-all since it comes from a time of middle school angst, but I think I'll have it stay forever instead. My moment of embarrassment after remembering that it existed was pretty short-lived when I remembered where I was in my life and what was happening at the time. My hope is that I can lure readers to this profile page through a riveting story and that their curiosity about the author will bring them face-to-face with my First and Worst. Let the world see it! Come! Take a gander at this spectacle of literary wreckage. Before you is the result of prepubescent existential dread colliding with frustration over my favorite character getting killed off. The two were warped together into the horrendous, pseudo-philosophical carnage you see today. At the time I called it my best work and at the time it was true. I tip my hat to you, Doppelganger. We should all aspire to have the confidence of a pre-teen girl posting her first fanfiction.
