I'm a newcomer to fanfiction writing. My friend sent me an SSHG story to read one summer that completely changed my perception of the characters and had me hooked on the HG/SS pairing. I was an English major in college, which, in retrospect, probably accounts for how eagerly I took to this pairing (in the spirit of Darcy/Elizabeth, Rochester/Jane, etc, etc, etc).
