Author has written 4 stories for Harry Potter.
Attention please. I've just bought a dreamwidth journal and would appreciate some friends/ fellow writers on there. Updates will be listed there. Please join if you can!
About me? I've been writing fanfiction for years now, and original fiction for even longer. I have another account on this site (please check under favourite authors) which has a wide range of fandoms, mostly slash and gen with the occasional het/ femmeslash.
This account was created because I realised that recently I've been writing quite a lot of fanfiction especially in the HP fandom which focuses on other characters than my favourites, and I wanted somewhere seperate to put them. Here there be dragons, femmeslash, female-centric fiction, gen and all manner of oddities.
Age: Old enough to drink in England, not old enough to drink in America
About me: I read, write, go out, I dislike people who describe themself as wacky, insane or strange, because if you are any of those things then you don't need words to let people know. I'm a mixture of contradictions- I'm a feminist Catholic, who is pro-life yet would fight to the death for female priests, equal rights for gay people, and generally equal rights for everyone. I'm a liberal Conservative (in the UK not the American sense), and I am very English. I drink tea, enjoy good food, have unfortunate fancies for unobtainable people, and despite grand plans for changing the world, occasionally I would just like to disappear into a book.
Favourite books (and fanfiction targets): Far too many to list, but these are the best- Crime and Punishment, Lord of the Rings, Anna Karenina, War and Peace, If on a Winter's Night a Traveller, Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, The Assassins and Fool's Fate Trilogies by Robin Hobb, Brideshead Revisited, A Canticle for Leibowitz, Heart of Darkness, The Once and Future King, The Loom of Youth, King Rat.
I write Harry Potter fanfiction and feel guilty about it.
Pairings I have written or plan on writing: All of these have been written and can be found on various of this account, Euripides or Deceasedsoul. Also just because I write something does not mean I 'ship' it.
Harry Potter: Draco/Harry, Ginny/Lavender, Lavender/Fleur, Percy/Oliver, Scorpius/Albus Severus, Harry/Scorpius, Harry/Hermione/Ron, Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Lucius/Sirius
Lord of the Rings: Eowyn/Arwen
Dead Poets Society: Charlie/Knox,
King Rat: King/Peter Marlowe,
Seven Citadels: Kerish/Forolkin,
Artemis Fowl: Artemis Fowl/Alex Rider, John Rider/ Yassen Gregorvich,
Gone with the Wind: Rhett Butler/ Ashley Wilkes,

Things I hate in HP fanfiction (especially in DH)
-either Harry or Draco as a rent-boy. The glamorisation of prostitution, the supposedly romantic fucked up dominance/submission issues between them, and the pure fundamental distastefulness of exchanging money for sex. Yeuch.
-either partner describing themselves as solely a bottom, or solely a top. Occasionally if it's written well you can understand, but most of the time it just shows a lack of subtlety in the understanding of how complex relationships can be
-ditto for extreme hurt/comfort where one partner is a drivelling mess, the worst representation of a Mills and Boon heroine with a cock. No I don't believe men have to be manly men. Yes I do believe that both men and women should conduct themselves with dignity. I wouldn't want a female protagonist to act like that, why would I want a male to?
-I don't like rape-fic, but I can't rant about it. It does happen, but I do wish that people could be more sensitive about the issues behind it, and the very real hangups with sex people sometimes get. I once read a very good D/H fic. It was well written and the author could spell. There was a graphic Lucius/Harry rape scene in the middle which was distasteful but apparantly plot-necessary. What was not plot-necessary was Harry swaying his arse about a thousand words later, and begging for Draco to take him to heal the pain.
So generally what I don't like are Americanisms, sex written by 12 year old female virgins who reckon that love apparantly smoothes the way, prostitution, rape, set-roles, role-dominance, torture-porn, no character buildup, unlikely scenarios, James Potter (epitome of bully), male pregnancy (which is disgusting), under a certain age, anachronisms (Harry is not going to be a Kings of Leon fan), Brit-pick failure,
God I'm a picky bastard. Feel free to lambast me in an email.
