Just another wanna-be writer with a lot of time on my hands. If you want to know how I found this site, you can take a look at my profile pic. I haven't written anything for Bleach, but that first glimpse of Rukia standing before the moon was what led me to all things anime and manga, which in turn led me here. As a kid I used to amuse myself by imagining stories in my head involving my favorite games and books, but I never knew there was a name for it... Fanfiction!
I mostly like writing oneshots for whatever fandom I'm currently obsessed with. Every once in awhile I might get ambitious and delve into a multi-chapter, but ONLY if I know for certain that I can finish what I started. I know how it feels to find an amazing story only to have it end halfway through because the author lost interest or vanished off the radar, and I will never let that happen to my stories or my readers (big fat lie, see Shadow of the Hero). So if you ever notice my profile become mysteriously inactive for an absurdly long time, then you can safely assume I'm dead or have amnesia or something equally dire. But DO feel free to PM me if you want to know my progress on a particular story, and I'll respond when I have a chance.
I admit that I am very lazy when it comes to reviewing. When I read a story I like, it tends to go straight on Favorites or Story Alert, same with authors. Because of this I try my best not to beg for reviews on my own stories. Equivalent Exchange, after all! If a story REALLY blows my mind, then expect an absurdly long review filled with nothing but my fangirling, since I'm apparently incapable of giving strong praise without melting in a puddle of goo. I'm not crazy or a stalker, I promise! I just tend to get very excited about things.
For anyone curious, I'm a heterosexual woman who likes to think of herself as open-minded and accepting, therefore my preference for pairings is fluid from day to day. When it comes to WRITING, I tend to be pickier and stick with canon pairings (except for Star Fox, apparently). When it comes to READING, I'm in the camp of "I'll try anything once." If an author can pull together a coherent plot that keeps me engaged while at the same time incorporating yaoi in a way that is not only tasteful but true to the characters, then hell yes I'll read it. After all, I'm a raving fangirl who has a healthy appreciation of the male body, so why the heck not? Some of my most favorite authors on this site are ALL about the yaoi, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
That said, there are some places where I draw the line. Incest is one of them because that's just ick. Relationships with large age gaps (especially where the younger is beneath age of consent) are something I've explored in the past, but now try to stay away from, unless an author can come up with a REALLY compelling reason for it. Rape and non-consent stories are iffy, depending on the plot, because it IS possible to use that as a good example of what an UNHEALTHY relationship looks like. Honestly, I just don't like Stockholm Syndrome type stories where a relationship starts with abuse and then takes an abrupt one-eighty and becomes lovey-dovey like the abuse never happened. I see WAY too much of that, and it gets on my nerves.
The universe has a wonderful sense of humor. The trick is learning how to take a joke - Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time
We stand in awe before that which cannot be seen. And we respect with every fiber that which cannot be explained - Bleach
Don't hesitate. When the time comes, just act - Star Fox: Assault
Love is not an emotion. Love is a promise - Doctor Who: Death In Heaven
Whenever there is a meeting, a parting is sure to follow. However, that parting need not last forever. Whether a parting be forever or merely for a short time...that is up to you - Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
I believe in God, but I also believe in morality, which is doing what is right regardless of what I am told. Not in religion, which is doing what I am told regardless of what is right - Anonymous
That moment when you finish a book, look around, and realize that everyone is carrying on with their lives as though you haven't just experienced emotional trauma at the hands of a paperback - Anonymous
That was the thing about Fate. All it did was set the path before you. It left you the free will to decide whether or not to walk it. In the end there was no one to blame but yourself, and no more crueler fate than the freedom to be responsible for every choice you make - Rose Zemlya, Reconciliation (EPIC Legend of Zelda fanfic!)
"Truth is stranger than fiction," as the old saying goes. When I watch a documentary, I can't help crying, and then I think to myself "Fiction can't compete with this." But when I mentioned this to a veteran manga artist friend of mine, he said that "Fiction brings salvation to characters in stories that would otherwise have no salvation at all." His words strengthened the conviction of my manga spirit - Hiromu Arakawa, Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 12
You know how sometimes you meet someone, and they're just so beautiful...but then you actually talk to them and five minutes later they're as dull as a brick? And then there's other people where you meet them and you think, "Not bad, they're okay." But then you get to know them. And their face just sort of...becomes them. And they turn into something so beautiful. Rory is the most beautiful man I've ever met - Doctor Who: The Girl Who Waited
