Once again, I thank you for the reviews and love on Shadow of the Hero, and I sincerely apologize for the year-long hiatus that seems to have no end in sight. Currently I am in the midst of editing previous chapters, and in some cases doing complete rewrites, to bring the story as a whole up to my current standards. Hopefully the end product will be worth it, but in the meantime I hope you will check out the rewritten chapters thus far and let me know what you think!
Chapters Currently Rewritten: (3) Enthusiasm (5) Hate (7) Feel (8) Wrecked (18) Acceptance (67) Fine
Chapters Pending Rewrite: (17) Horror (69) Energetic (71) Disgust
Various other chapters have also received minor tweaks in description or dialogue (which will be noted in author's notes), enough to smooth out the writing without making any alterations to the theme. I have only listed chapters above that have had (or will have) MAJOR changes which may require a reread for full understanding.
Just another wanna-be writer with a lot of time on my hands. If you want to know how I found this site, you can take a look at my profile pic. I haven't written anything for Bleach, but that first glimpse of Rukia standing before the moon was what led me to all things anime and manga, which in turn led me here. As a kid I used to amuse myself by imagining stories in my head involving my favorite games and books, but I never knew there was a name for it. Fanfiction!
I mostly like writing oneshots for whatever fandom I'm currently obsessed with. Every once in awhile I might get ambitious and delve into a multi-chapter, but ONLY if I know for certain that I can finish what I started. I know how it feels to find an amazing story only to have it end halfway through because the author lost interest or vanished off the radar, and I will never let that happen to my stories or my readers. So if you ever notice my profile become mysteriously inactive for an absurdly long time, then you can safely assume I'm dead or have amnesia or something equally dire. But DO feel free to PM me if you want to know my progress on a particular story, and I'll respond when I have a chance.
Reviews and Pairings
I admit that I am very lazy when it comes to reviewing. When I read a story I like, it tends to go straight on Favorites or Story Alert, same with authors. Because of this I try my best not to beg for reviews on my own stories. Equivalent Exchange, after all!
And as for yaoi, I'm okay with it. I prefer canon pairings for the most part, but a good half the stories on my Favorites list consist of yaoi fics that struck an emotional fan-girly chord, so obviously I'm not as picky as I like to pretend. Some of the best authors on this site manage to incorporate yaoi in a way that is tasteful and true to the fandom and characters, which I find very impressive.
Don't hesitate. When the time comes, just act - Star Fox: Assault (my personal mantra now, since being horribly indecisive is a bad trait of mine)
We stand in awe before that which cannot be seen. And we respect with every fiber that which cannot be explained - Bleach
Whenever there is a meeting, a parting is sure to follow. However, that parting need not last forever. Whether a parting be forever or merely for a short time...that is up to you - The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
I believe in God, but I also believe in morality, which is doing what is right regardless of what I am told. Not in religion, which is doing what I am told regardless of what is right - Anonymous
That moment when you finish a book, look around, and realize that everyone is carrying on with their lives as though you haven't just experienced emotional trauma at the hands of a paperback - Anonymous
That was the thing about Fate. All it did was set the path before you. It left you the free will to decide whether or not to walk it. In the end there was no one to blame but yourself, and no more crueler fate than the freedom to be responsible for every choice you make - Rose Zemlya, Reconciliation (EPIC Legend of Zelda fanfic!)
"Truth is stranger than fiction," as the old saying goes. When I watch a documentary, I can't help crying, and then I think to myself "Fiction can't compete with this." But when I mentioned this to a veteran manga artist friend of mine, he said that "Fiction brings salvation to characters in stories that would otherwise have no salvation at all." His words strengthened the conviction of my manga spirit - Hiromu Arakawa, Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 12
You know how sometimes you meet someone, and they're just so beautiful...but then you actually talk to them and five minutes later they're as dull as a brick? And then there's other people where you meet them and you think, "Not bad, they're okay." But then you get to know them, and their face just sort of...becomes them. And they turn into something so...so beautiful. Rory is the most beautiful man I've ever met - Doctor Who, The Girl Who Waited
The badger is a solitary creature known for its placid nature, not for its bravery, its intelligence or its ambition. We are peaceful and even-tempered, diligent and steadfast, generous and caring and humble. And often we are pushed to the background because of the very traits that make us so wonderful in the first place.
But do not let our shy and laid-back temperaments fool you. When faced with true danger, a badger does not simply lie down and accept defeat. We do not tremble and weep and hang our heads in shame when the prideful and the oppressive look down on us. Our hides are thick, our claws sharp, and we have been known to kill both snakes and lions to defend our territory and loved ones. Back us into a corner at your own risk—you will see how ferocious we are and what we are capable of.
I am a badger. I am a Hufflepuff. And damn proud of it!
