I believe we've covered the basics, I'll expand on my introduction. I write for mostly the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom(s), though some Kingdom Hearts bunnies appear in my head from time to time. I've been into Yu-Gi-Oh! for eight years and counting, but took a long hiatus from the fandom and am restarting now. Be careful, I may be a bit rusty, though constructive criticism is encouraged. My OTP of all time is Joey x Yugi and my favorite characters are Téa, Joey, and Mana.
I hate to break it to you, but I am a fan of dubs. Well, mostly. I watch Full Moon wo Sagashite and Vampire Knight in Japanese (even though I really want Vampire Knight to be released on Adult Swim). I thought the voice acting for the English version of Yu-Gi-Oh! was much better than the Japanese voice acting (or Japanese voice acting in general). I just wish Funimation continued the unedited DVDs...and got rid of Yugi's Mickey-Mouse-Going-Through-Puberty voice (not that his Japanese voice is any better). But I'd rather have really good acting than hardcore uncensored action. And I'd rather have an IC dubfic than an OOC subfic.
On that subject, Téa and Anzu are the same person. I am the...third person in the world (or at least the United States) who believes this. Yes, I'm highly aware that the early manga is supposed to be the gold standard of all Yu-Gi-Oh! media. But I found that a lot of her actions are similar to her in the dub, only the clobberings that she gives to Jounouchi are more verbal. Téa breaks fights between Joey and Tristan, went after a robber herself, screamed at the Rare Hunters, called Noa a spoiled brat, and kicked the heads off of zombified mummies in the movie. Warner Bros. did not make her play Nintendogs on her diamond-studded pink DS, cry over a broken nail, or say "LIKELIKELIKELIKELIKE TOTALLY FRIENDSHIP~ !!1!1" Anzu is not She-Ra, either. All the times that she supposedly 'assaulted' people were in reaction to a situation where she felt threatened (such as flipping her skirt). When she hit that dude with the globe, she was completely scared at first and looked for a last-minute solution. She got impatient, worried, and scared...just like Téa. Maybe I'm biased since I don't follow labels like 'tomboy' or 'preppy', but it really annoys me when people have to resort to dub-bashing and high school labels to bash a character.
Oh, and I hated Season 0. So, you'll never see me write it.
Also, Joey/Jounouchi is almost never uke in my fics. Maybe a 'switch', but you'll never see him uke. This is kind of the main reason why I don't like Puppyshipping. Joey is twisted so out of character he puts Shuichi Shindou to shame. He's quite the (unsuccessful) flirt in both the anime and the manga, so if Joey ever liked Kaiba in that way, he'd probably conclude that the only reason why they get into so many arguments is because Kaiba likes him, which would leave the poor CEO both enraged and flustered, or laughing in his face. I don't hate Kaiba all that much, though, but it took me a very long time to warm up to him. I really hate the 'white-prince-Kaiba' archetype, though.
And to all doujinshi artists (you know who you are): I know the Duel Monsters series has ended, but...YUGI DOES NOT HAVE BREASTS.
My newest fandom is Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. I thought it was gonna be stupid like everyone else said but I saw that one duel with Craiger (or however you spell his name) and I got really hooked. My favorite character is Akiza since I can relate to her in many ways. I really like the Yusei x Akiza pairing, she deserves to have someone tell her she is beautiful, but I'm not interested in Mary-Sueing myself with Yusei. Yes, he's hot, but I find him to be a pretty bland character.
I used to hate Kairi, but my love for Téa helped me grow on her, since they have similar personalities. I like to see Kairi be supportive of Riku and Sora's relationship, whether it's romance or friendship. She's not useless. She got the keyblade because she wanted to see Sora again and help out. Just because I'm an Organization fan and an AkuRoku fan doesn't mean that I'll bash Sora or Naminé, either. I don't really like Naminé all that much, but I understand a lot of the things she went through. It took guts for her to stand up to Marluxia. And Sora is not a Nazi. He was just trying to return the hearts to their rightful owners.
If I favorite a story without reviewing it, this is not meant to offend anyone. I am just extremely timid and I don't know what to say. I feel like I get a lot of pressure from people who want only constructive reviews, so it makes it seem like people want to choose their own fanbase and cast aside the very people who think they're awesome.
I don't flame. I never have and I never will. I will not appreciate flames in return. Not even 'constructive' ones.
I also like to write parodies. But what really bothers me is that most of them hurt other writers. I don't like Mary-Sues either, but disliking them doesn't make you any more intelligent than whoever does. Parody writers seem to lose sight of having fun (which is the SOLE PURPOSE of writing a parody) and resort to bashing whatever or whoever they don't like instead, treating it as some boring job.
I hate writing profiles.
