![]() Author has written 14 stories for Harry Potter, and Pride and Prejudice. Hello from the rain-drenched Emerald Isle! I'm Kate. I'm 18 and Irish, more than a little crazy - although I prefer the term 'eccentric' :D I fell in love with Harry Potter (the books. No, really) when I was six and never wavered since. Admittedly I was less obsessed after the series was all over, but that has been remedied by the amazing production 'A Very Potter Musical' from team Starkid. Watch it on YouTube. Now. It's hilarious, and you should never take your fandom too seriously - this will cure you of that forever. Affectionate parody. And Darren Criss is a waaaay better Harry than Daniel Radcliff... -shudders- My favourite characters ever? Well, since you ask... ;) HP: The Weasleys, especially Fred, George and RON. I said it. He's so under-valued... He's an idiot, but probably the most realistic and lovable character in the series. Also: Neville, Hermione, Luna and McGonagall. Oh! And Snape. Awful man, but just so multi-faceted... And lately Susan Bones. Don't ask me why, I know she has like three lines in seven books, but still... OK, I'll stop now XD Neil Gaiman: Dream, Death (Sandman version), Desire, Hob Gadling, Door, Yvaine, Wyborne. Terry Pratchett: Vimes, Angua, Nobby, Polly Perks, Maladict(a), Granny Weatherwax, Verence II, Greebo, Death (Discworld version), Lu Tze, Brutha and everyone else. Pride and Prejudice: Elezabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, Jane Bennet, Mr. Bingley. The usual. Also love Mrs and Mr Bennet XD Firefly: Mal, Kaylee, Wash, Zoe, River, Simon, Jayne, Inara, Jubal Early. Oh, and Badger. He has a very fine hat. Death Note: L. Just... L. Oh, and Matsuda :D He's adorable. And Aizawa. I'm also fond of Matt through fanfic, even though he spoke all of once, I think, in the anime... Near is a little awesome (bit cold for me, though). Mello is sort of awesome, but scares me O_o That's pretty much it, not much more to say. Please review my writing! It makes me happier than you could know :) love, Kate, a.k.a. Kobble PS: The vampire is named Charlie, but currently he's dressed as Otto Chriek... Quotes: "Scientific progress goes 'boink'?" - Calvin and Hobbes "I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you." - Firefly "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" - Wash, Firefley "Time for some thrilling heroics" - Jayne, Firefly "May have been the losing side, still not sure it was the wrong one" - Mal, Firefly "I can kill you with my brain" - Firefly "I'm not left-handed either" - Princess Bride "It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities" - Dumbledore, Harry Potter "You place too much importance... on the so-called purity of blood! You fail to recognize that it matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be!" - Dumbledore, HP "God damns our kind especially and we will burn, we will burn together!" - The Crucible "Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life." - Terry Pratchett "Against one perfect moment the centuries beat in vain." - Terry Pratchett "If we break down, it all breaks down, until nothing is left unbroken. You can't say 'we're the good guys' and do bad guy things" - Vimes, Night Watch "We are here and this is now, and you do the job that's in front of you. It's all you can do" - Night Watch "They did the job they didn't have to do, and they died doing it, and you can't give them anything. They fought for those who'd been abandoned, they fought for one another, and they were betrayed. Men like them always are. What good would a statue be? It'd just inspire new fools to believe they're going to be heroes." - Vimes, Night Watch "Ideas are bullet-proof." - V for Vendetta "It means the world's about as solid and as reliable as a layer of scum on the top of a well of black water which goes down forever, and there are things in the depths that I don't even want to think about" - Neil Gaiman, The Sandman "For you, a thousand times over" - The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini "Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes - Who watches the the Watchmen?" - Roman quote, I think. Mentioned in Watchmen and Thud. "What the hell is a Hufflepuff?" - Dumbledore, A Very Potter Musical "Can anyone tell me what foreshadowing is?" - Snape, AVPM "Don't suggest a giant slide or a trampoline - because we already tried those..." - Voldemort, AVPM "Well I believe that everything has it's place. Muggles have their place... Mudbloods have their place... And so. Do. Your. Clothes! Namely - a dresser!!" - Voldemort, AVPM "Red Vines: what the hell can't they do?" - Ron, AVPS "I am a racist, I despise gingers and mudbloods, I HATE Gryffindor house and my parents work for the man who killed your parents - do you want to be my friend?" - Draco to Harry in AVPS "He's HARRY-FREAKING-POTTER!!" - AVPS "What the devil is going on heeeere?" Snape in AVPM and AVPS "Jusqu'ici tout va bien... jusqu'ici tout va bien... jusqu'ici tout va bien. Mais l'important, c'est pas la chute... c'est l'atterrissage." "She asks "Are you cursed?" He says "I think that I'm cured" "They try and they try but everything that they do is a ghost of a trace of a pale imitation of you." ~ 'Kathleen' by Josh Ritter "Were you a Tahitian grain of sand in a past life?" ~ Freelance Whales (band) "I am a writer, a writer of fiction. I am the heart that you call home. And I've written pages upon pages, trying to rid you from my bones" ~ The Decemberists "Of dirt you're made, and to dirt you will return" ~ The Decemberists (Rox in the Box) "Thomas Edison's last words were 'It's very beautiful over there'. I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere, and I hope it's beautiful." ~ John Green "What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person." ~John Green "Because no one can catch the motherfucking fox." ~ John Green (Looking for Alaska) "Francois Rabelais. He was a poet. And his last words were "I go to seek a Great Perhaps." That's why I'm going. So I don't have to wait until I die to start seeking a Great Perhaps." ~ John Green "There is no Them. There are only facets of Us." ~ John Green "Maybe our favorite quotations say more about us than about the stories and people we're quoting." ~ John Green Stories completed or (possibly permanently) unfinished: Fredfile: About Fred Weasley, obviously. Love him. Probably won't ever be finished. I don't believe it was very good, really. Might use parts of it for a new, hopefully better, story. The Stone Remembers: This is a one-shot born of idle wondering about what, exactly, would a muggle who noticed the ruin where Hogwarts should be think? And the idea that the castle remembers its inhabitants... It's complete. Dear Diary: Ginny Weasley's relationship with her very evil diary... Another story that was somewhat lacking, but may get finished someday. Devil's Light: Lucius Malfoy reflecting on the only thing in the entire series that made me think of him as a real human being, and not just a monster like Voldemort: his love for his family. Another one I really liked, and may continue at some point as a series of one-shots. I think I write darker stuff better... The Lion Within: This is a story I wrote about Neville Longbottom and Draco Malfoy for... a challenge, it might have been the Character Perspective challenge? I don't know. But it's Draco Malfoy reflecting on Neville, and how he mightn't still be the way he was at 11... I'm pretty proud of it. It was devilishly difficult to write, but didn't turn out half bad. Moon Madness: Slightly angsty fic about Luna Lovegood. Considered continuing it, but not sure if it's worth it. If you think it is, let me know and I might try a bit harder to continue, but can't really be bothered right now. Tolerable: My only non-HP fic (thought of others, but nothing came of them yet ...) Mr Darcy's reflections upon first meeting the elusive Miss Eliza Bennet. Stories I am working on or plan to be soon: Finders Keepers: This is an Andromeda Black/Ted Tonks romance/family story. I love the Black sisters and Nymphadora Tonks is awesome -- so how could this not be fun? I rather like it, and fully intend to update when I have some more time. Harry Potter and the Fables of Aesop: This is a series of one-shots, each one based on an Aesop's Fable. The first chapter is about Rodolphus and Bellatrix Lestrange. It's sort of romance... It's 'A Case For Patience'. The next one is 'Friend or Foe'. At all curious about who I'll pick? I'm actually really proud of this one, but I've come to the conclusion that people are turned off by the name XD (as I have written worse things that got far more reviews...). I hope to update soon, I know what the second chapter is about and everything The Line in the Sand: Lily Luna Potter and Scorpius Malfoy. My first next gen fic. Will be finished eventually... I promise :D Future Stories: The Burrow: We'll have to see about this one... Owls: Working title. A romance based loosely on You've Got Mail ... My first ever distinctly non-canon romance (usually I just try 'well, for all we know...', but this definitely didn't happen). Fred/Hermione, because I love it. Love Ron too, which makes it tricky... One for Sorrow: Series of one-shots based around the Magpie Rhyme. HP, of course... Death Note: Something to do with L... remains uncertain. 1.) Being gay is not 'natural'. We must always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning. 2.) Gay marriage will make people gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall. 3.) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets- because of course a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract, just like a human being. 4.) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, interracial marriage is still frowned upon, and divorce is still illegal. 5.) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed (Oh, what a tragedy). 6.) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world clearly needs more children, despite the fact that so many of them go uncared for. 7.) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children. 8.) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion. 9.) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children. 10.) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.
