UPDATE PROGRESS AVAILABLE AT THE END OF THIS PROFILE
I'm Jolly Writer 2.0. You can call me Jolly or Jay (you can guess my real name starts with a 'J', can't you?). I've been reading fanfiction for years now and decided to give it a try.
Just to give you an idea of why, what, how and when I write:
I’ve technically been writing for almost seven years now, but decided just two and a half years ago to post my ideas on this website. When I first started out, I had plenty of motivation, to the point I could sit down for two hours and have five thousand words typed in that time. Early as fuck in the morning, too. I sat down with the thought that I would be able to write multiple stories in one year, promising myself that my first story would be done within a year at the very minimum. I have lost that motivation, but I have not lost inspiration. The world of my story expands in my mind everyday with every new piece of information I discover as I grow and learn. I think of new creatures to give life, new characters to develop, new societies to build. With help from family, friends, and readers, my dream world grows more and more each day.
When it comes to what I will write, it all depends on what ideas I can come up with for whatever fandom fits the idea the best. I succeed in coming up with developed ideas most of the time, but I admit I fall short. Like with “Two In One: Lightning Strikes”, in which I had a good concept but not enough to take it past that. I am struggling with it mostly because I didn’t know how to go about telling my story. “Riders of Duracia: A Kingdom Rises” and its following sequels are beyond developed in my opinion, a good example of an idea of mine done right. “Percy: Madness Remains” is something more in between, in which the concept is branched off a cliché with a touch of original to make it stand out, but it wasn’t fully developed when I announced it. I believe it’s developed enough now to hopefully have it catch up to “RoD:AKR”. As for what fandoms I would write about, it could be any of the ones listed down in my “Fandoms” section, if I can only come up with something entertaining and relevant.
How I write is a little more complicated, yet still simple. I tend to write like I read; listening to music to get bursts of motivation/inspiration from the songs I listen to, and also to block out the outside world. I usually like my privacy, but it’s hard when some of my best places to write are my living room and college campus. I still live with my parents at the moment, so it’s hard to escape them in the living room, and my room is calming but not very inspirational unless I’m simultaneously watching a movie on my laptop as I type. As for campus, since I don’t dorm anymore, I can only type in public places, and most quiet spots near outlets in the library are taken during the time between classes. Aside from that, I usually watch a movie alongside my word documents, or have a browser open to do research on topics I’m writing about. I do this in short spurts of motivation – nowadays – in which I sit down and get hundreds of words down before I’m done for the month/next few months. I’m trying to get myself to write more often, mostly with my new iPhone, in which I’d be typing up my stories on the Notes app. I used to do that a lot back in high school.
Warning to readers, usually those who are used to pushovers and kiss-asses, I am here to write of my own volition. It might seem like I write for my readers, especially when I apologize for my slow updates, but I write because I want to be a writer. I want to someday write my own books, and when I apologize to my readers, I feel like I’m apologizing more to myself for not doing better, for not living up to my own expectations. Do not let that deter you, for I do feel sorry for those readers who are truly invested and feel cheated when there’s a break in a story they like. I know the feeling, but I also don’t find myself blaming the authors of stories I read. Also I will not update just because someone is ready to annoy the fuck out of me with demands or bullshit reviews. I will not ask for reviews, and I don’t believe someone is obligated to review just because they read a story and favorited/followed it. But I do believe a review left by a reader should at least resemble a ‘review’, whether it be short and sweet or long and detailed. Do not leave obligatory “I liked it!”, “Great story!”, and/or “Good job!” reviews in which nothing is said about the story that makes it stand out from any other you left the same response in. Point out what you liked, let me know what I’ve done wrong; or better yet, kindly point out what was done incorrectly so that I can fix it and improve. Which reminds me, don’t leave stupid “Your story sucks!”, “This was a piece of shit”, and/or “You’re stupid!” reviews for that’s just pointless and also results in unimpressed expressions and me ignoring your reviews and possibly any future reviews from you. It’s not gonna hurt my feelings or make me stop writing. You won’t win some imaginary battle against me, especially because I’ll just win the imaginary war when I update and don’t even acknowledge your desperate call for attention. I will also not tolerate long and descriptive rants about something you don’t agree with purely out of personal opinion. This is fanfiction, meaning fiction written by a fan. I am the fan writing these stories, not you. If I get facts about the original source wrong and didn’t explain myself, odds are that I messed up and would gladly take your words to heart. Otherwise, I write what I want and will try to warn you in advance, but that is it. I take requests/suggestions, but I do not feel obligated to do so. I do it out of my own will, and will not tolerate bothersome readers. If you spam me, I will report you. I will not even acknowledge you with a response. I take time out of my own schedule to write, and only post it in hopes of some feedback and that it would entertain others. I will not hesitate to block those that do not respect that.
Sorry if that last bit was harsh, but sometimes people need a good kick in the ass to take steps in the right direction.

DISCLAIMER: I don't own any of the rights to any of the categories I publish my stories under. I am a college student with barely ten bucks in her pocket. I am but an amateur writer hoping to get recognition for my non-profit fanfiction. Most importantly, I am a twenty year old female. Most of the authors or game designers of the categories I write about are not twenty and at least one isn't even female.
Click here for summaries for all my stories, active and coming soon. Even some that just run through my head every now and then that are developed enough to actually have a summary in the first place. Feel free to get inspired by any of the stories on this link. I don't mind. Just stay away from anything relating to Duracia or Death & Decay. Those are my original ideas that I would like to keep for myself, thank you.
Update News: Progress will be posted here. Updates are irregular but will be on Saturdays following the completion of chapters.
"Riders of Duracia: A Kingdom Rises" [progress updated August 31, 2016] = I'm working on getting back into writing for this story, don't worry. This new semester I should be on my laptop more because of an online class, which also means possibly getting my laptop looked over which could be getting it fixed (fingers crossed). I'm planning to update at least chapter 14 this semester though hopefully I can start on chapter 15 and get that up too.
"Percy: Madness Returns" [progress updated September 6, 2016] = I FINALLY FUCKING UPDATED!! Oh my god, I'm drained...chapter 4 will come soon, just wait it out...
"Two In One: Lightning Strikes" [progress updated June 27, 2016] = Officially Discontinued. The plot just wasn't working for me. I know I'm having trouble writing right now, but I've had trouble with this fic since the very beginning. It's just not happening.
I'm planning to start writing another fic as I write my 2 active ones. Maybe getting something new in the mix will get me going. I will not publish any new stories unless I have at least 5 chapters ready to go for them. I want to get back into the habit of updating the way I did when I first came out with "Riders of Duracia" way back before I added the "A Kingdom Rises". If the new fics slow me down, I will put them off to continue with my 2 published and actives fics.
I'm still working on my issues, cuz everyone has issues, but I'm trying to come back. Slowly but surely I know I can. In the meantime, I have added two poems and a short story to my FictionPress account if anyone wants to check them out. I changed my major to what I've always originally wanted, English! And hopefully the new focus in my education will bring back my drive and I'll be my normal self again, writing/typing late into the early morning. Because who needs sleep, am I right?
