"Life is like the surf, so give yourself away like the sea..."
My name is Mari, I'm in my 30s. I started reading FF a few years ago after finding a rec' for Wide Awake on a Imbd board.. life after that was never the same :) Since then I made great friends and fell in love with a community that at its best is friendly, supportive and adorably crazy. I've cried, I've laughed, I've got hot & bothered, but most of all I've smiled a lot reading these stories, and learned from all of them as well...
Thank you, once again, for the efforts and work of the writers.
I know I've been MIA lately.. but real life got a bit crazy... nonetheless I still adore the authors that made this experience as special as it was for me in the beginning... wished I still had time to write long reviews for each new chapter, but I don't.. yet, please know it isn't for lack of deep appreciation. I love you all still.
To whom it may concern.
Recently I was going trough my favorites to try and figure out what stories are missing and what not, and suddenly I realized how many authors have left the fandom... some for very validate and personal reasons, some because of rivalries, some because of writing exclusively original fiction and some just have simply vanished into thin air... Now, even as someone that has never written a mean review in all the years that I've been here and has always treated authors with utmost respect, I must say now: What the hell?
I understand it is a personal decision to do whatever with ones FF life, but to share with readers, soak up in their attention and adoration, and then pull off, just vanishing without a warning or at least a "Hey, thank you, goodbye"??... That's just wrong.
...FINALLY: If you - Writers - are going to pull a disappearing act for publishing purposes, please be as nice as E L James (...or hunterhunting or Mrs-TheKing or ObsessingOverEdward...) was about it. Objectively speaking, the way she - E L James - handled things is the reason why the fandom has never left her without its support and in actuality it propelled her success in the beginning. So, you may want to consider that as well.
ALL that being said, I'm very grateful for the people that are still hanging around the fandom and that still, so graciously, share with us all their amazing work. Yes, we've lost some good veterans but the fandom is still alive and kicking with "new blood", case in point, the always talented LyricalKris, Mamasutra, Edward's Eternal, Savage7289, abstract way, Nauticalmass, SydneyAlice, bornonhalloween, justaskalice, Tropical Sorbet, Planetblue and Lillie Cullen amongst many others.
And to end in a positive note... If you haven't read this stories, I have no idea where have you been :) These are my all time favorites: Alphabet Weekends, Holding out for you, The Mirros, Behind Enemy Lines (balticward), In the Blink of an Eye, Creature of Habit, The Office, Tunes with Tony Masen (by Just4ALE RIP), Leaves of Grass, Trust in Advertising, The Red Line, Cascade and Cyanide, You Get Me Closer to God, She's Royal, Poughkeepsie, Good Enough, The Port Angeles Players, Let's Get Physical, The Cullen Campaign, Picture Windows, Fridays at Noon, Firefly in Summer, For the Summer, Going for the Gold, A Lesson In Release, The Lost Boys, Edward Wallbanger, Imagination Land, Lost Half and all of Bratty-Vamp's works, if you can find them..
