As Beloved Chapter 5 comes close to completion, I figured that I would give you all another little sample, this time from Hinata's perspective!
No words are spoken as we trek to the “Forest of Death”. There are questions which I yearn to ask, but the stoic look upon Anko-sensei’s face warns me that questions are best left alone for the moment.
“…And while I approve, just don't let him hinder you from becoming the best kunoichi you can be. I won't train a love struck maiden that cares more about flowers and impressing her crush instead of her own abilities…”
Thoughts of Anko-sensei’s words from the previous evening invade my mind as we enter the tower located in the center of the infamous training ground #44. Anko-sensei’s offer of apprenticeship had come with one clause that I was to comply by. And that was to never forget why I was training in the first place. Love was important, but so was self improvement, and Anko-sensei simply wanted me to make sure that I didn’t neglect one for the other.
I sense an aura of melancholy as I am lead to a room three doors down and petrified when I gaze at the shinobi gathered inside. Iruka-sensei’s eyes are filled with remorse, Sarutobi Konohamaru grits his teeth, while our own hokage, Tsunade-sama is in tears.
“Sakura-san!” I plead, as I see the pink haired teammate of Team Seven, “What has hap-!“
Sakura-san interrupts me mid sentence by slowly shaking her head in silence and motions for me to follow.
Beloved Chapter 5 is nearly done! Since you all waited so patiently, here is a little sample to let you know that shit is about to get real...
“There is a saying…” Kyuubi recites as I open up the red scroll, “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. Naruto…in order for you to protect your village, this is the choice that you must make. There is no other way…I’m sorry…”
Sigh…”I understand…let’s just get this over with…”
A flash of light envelops my body as I am teleported to the tower in the middle of the forest. Upon meeting back up with Sasuke, I find that all strength in my body has left me. I can’t even feel my chakra anymore as my body collapses to the ground completely. So this is it…this is how I’m going to protect Konoha…
As I feel my eyelids close, I feel an ache inside my heart, a pain that cuts deeper than a blade, a coldness that not even a cup a ramen can warm…
