Author has written 7 stories for Harry Potter.
I started writing fanfic in my head as a child the first time I got attached to a book and then had the ending pull the rug out from under me (The Dark is Rising series, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hounds of the Morrigan to name a few). I had no idea that other people had the same impulse until many years later! I began by just reading and enjoying the many talented writers on this site and others. Finally, I decided to try it for myself to see if I could put together a coherent story from all the ideas inspired by my favorite authors.
I am a student of the folklore of many cultures, I love to discover how similar stories spread and change as they are told in many different cultures (a whole other kind of fanfic). When there are references to folklore in my story I will post an author note with further information
All of my current long stories, The New Skin, The Clear Cut, and The Good Friend are set after the Battle of Hogwarts. They are mostly canon-compliant, besides the survival of certain character(s) and the details of magical creatures and some spell mechanics. Even though The Clear Cut was published first, it is in fact the sequel to The New Skin. The New Skin takes place beginning immediately at the end of the Battle of Hogwarts and continues until roughly one year later. The Clear Cut takes place roughly 1 1/2 years from the end of The New Skin. The Good Friend takes place about a month after the end of The Clear Cut. There are some recurring characters between these stories, but they can be read separately. Personally, I think The Clear Cut and The New Skin could be read in either order. The Good Friend has a few spoilers for the other tow stories, but I don't think it should ruin your enjoyment if you decide to read it first.
I can't say that the seed idea for my stories, that Snape survived the final battle, is very original. I was inspired by the many fanfic authors who have had this idea before me. I hope that the direction that I take him in is unique.
All of my long stories so far are mysteries, as that was one of my favorite characteristics of the original series. The mystery aspect of The New Skin will be a bit slower-paced than The Clear Cut, since I will also be addressing the immediate aftermath of the war.
Please feel free to tell me what you think! I love hearing my readers' thoughts on my stories. I will respond to every review that I can.
A rough chronology of all my stories:
The Spring: Set before the Founders' era, sometime in Saxon Britain. Tied tangentially to The Good Friend.
Run Crooked: 1980s: A brief glimpse into the childhood Of Millicent Bulstrode. Tied tangentially to Inconclusive Evidence and The Good Friend
A Short History of Magic: 1990s. Sarah Fawcett investigates forbidden pursuits. Tied tangentially to Inconclusive Evidence and The Good Friend
Inconclusive Evidence: 1998. Slytherin House has to come to an important decision in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Hogwarts. Tied to Run Crooked, A Short History of Magic, The New Skin, and The Good Friend.
The New Skin: 1998 - 1999. Snape has to find a way to live and recover from the war. Prequel to The Clear Cut and The Good Friend.
The Clear Cut: March 2001. Snape has settled into his new life when a request from someone from his past plunges him into a criminal conspiracy. Sequel to The New Skin, prequel to The Good Friend.
The Good Friend: Spring and summer, 2001. Old obligations draw Snape back to a reunion he never wanted. Sequel to The New Skin and The Clear Cut.
Update 5/21/12: I'm still hard at work on the third story in my series, The Good Friend, and it's going well! I've just posted a short two-shot story to tide you over, Inconclusive Evidence. You could read it as taking place concurrently with the events in the first few chapters of the New Skin, but it can also stand on its own. The first part is up now, and the second part will be up later this week or early next week.
Update 7/19/12: I'm working on my next stand-alone one-shot, The Spring, and I should be able to post it next week, if the typing goes well. This will be something very different, in a way. It will be set in the pre-Founders era and will have only the briefest appearance of any canon characters. However, it will lay the groundwork for the third story in the series and a lot more besides. I hope you will enjoy it.
Update 9/19/12: Due to a ridiculous number of life upheavals this summer, my writing schedule has been off for the past couple of months. I'm now up and running again, and progress on my next story, The Good Friend, is going well, but this is just your advance notice that I might not make my self-imposed deadline of the end of the year. I'll post updates here as I get closer to the end and let you know when it will start to go up. Never fear, it will be here!
Update 4/5/17: It's been along time, and a hard time, due more upheavals including a death in the family. It's a strange thing to say, but the long delay was something I needed personally, but it's also something the story needed as well. I can see now how the resolution was not really working, and the way it's coming together now it's a much stronger story. The Good Friend is still coming, and in a much better way than it was before. In the meantime, have a little one-shot character study and get to know our sweet little Millicent: Run Crooked.
Update 7/31/17: The Good Friend is coming along well, but there is still some writing and editing to go before I'll be able to start posting chapters. Here's another one-shot character study to ease the wait: A Short History of Magic.
Update 9/14/17: The first chapter of The Good Friend is up! Finally! I'm still working hard at revising and sanding down the rough edges of the story, but it is completely written. Since I have quite a bit of work still to do, I'll be posting slowly at first, every other week. As I get the editing done, I'll try to move up to a weekly posting schedule. I hope you enjoy it.
Update 5/6/18: I'm back on track to posting on a regular schedule again! I'll be moving my regular day to every-other Thursday due to a change in my work schedule. I should have the next chapter up later this week.
Update 9/27/18: I've revamped this profile to give a detailed chronology for my stories. I think they can be enjoyed in any order, but I know some people may like to read them chronologically.
