Nature's first green is gold,
“What nobody tells people who are beginners — and I really wish someone had told this to me . . . is that all of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, and it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not.
But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase. They quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know it’s normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story.
It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.” — Ira Glass

Want to just talk about books with me or get recommendations on what to read? I'm on Goodreads as bloodredrosez. I've gone through quite a lot of YA fiction. I'm an avid reader and I love getting recs from people too.
7/18 - Yet another very, very belated update to Cold Moon, Bright Star. I've moved on (somewhat) in dramaland to Lost Love in Times, lol, although Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms will always be my all time favorite because I loved the book too (despite the plagiarism). It takes me months to even get through one drama because I'm very picky about what I watch and I barely have time to watch in the first place. Sometimes I get kind of mad that Princess Agents has so much popularity despite the total mess of a plot and storytelling...we all love the actors and they seriously saved the show, but there's just SO much to criticize about the drama, even before the whole "filmed only half the story, total cliffhanger ending, season 2 not even in talks yet" problem. Sigh.
On one hand, my frustration with the drama was what spurred me to write. On the other hand, my frustration with the drama is what makes it hard to be inspired.
4/21 - Finally updated Cold Moon, Bright Star! I've been so busy with my new job and moving (I'm staying at a different place during the week and driving back on weekends so I'm not spending 4 hours of my life daily just driving) that I'm behind on just about everything. I did catch up on a few things in the meantime though - I read the book that Love O2O is based on and started watching some episodes. Hoping to have enough time to eventually get around to Nirvana in Fire and some others. But even months later, my all time favorite is still 3L3W.
1/1 - I have to say, after reading Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (or 3L3W) for the THIRD TIME, finishing the entire Pillow Book, and watching half the drama... I have to confess that I kinda regret writing PA fanfic. Part of it is because I'm not too fond of my own writing at the moment and I'm even less fond of it when it's so mixed up with the drama, but part of it is just that Mark Chao and Yang Mi are amazing and the story is amazing and it is so, so ridiculously hard to go from my high over Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms to figuring out the plotline (such that it is) for my PA fic.
Happy New Year's to all!

The Chinese translation of BRR is HERE. I don't think the translators ever finished but IIRC they got up to at least chapter 15. I'll admit I haven't even looked at it so I don't really know what's going on. There is also a German translation out there somewhere and a French one, but I lost contact with two different people who had contacted me for permission on the French translation, so IDK about that either. Edit: I guess FFNet got rid of all links at some point, so just to google the story title and "TieBa" since that's where they posted it.
FFN seems to just eat up my links now but I have stories up in other places and under various pennames. However, I don't have duplicates of ANY story up so if you come across another copy of my story where it's not supposed to be, I'd appreciate a PM. You can Google the information below to find the actual sites.
