Nature's first green is gold,
“What nobody tells people who are beginners — and I really wish someone had told this to me . . . is that all of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, and it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not.
But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase. They quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know it’s normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story.
It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.” — Ira Glass

Want to talk about books or get recommendations on what to read? I'm on Goodreads and Shelfari as bloodredrosez. I've gone through quite a lot of YA fiction. I'm an avid reader and I love getting recommendations too.
Edit: So I finished it. I have no words. Wait no, I have a lot of them, just nothing I can share. This requires more than fix it fiction. I have not actually seen anywhere in Chinese media that there actually will be a Season 2 and I find it doubtful it will happen given that the actors have signed onto other projects already, so even if there WAS a Season 2, it would be years away. Excuse me while I go swear incoherently some more.
I'm on the last two episodes of Princess Agents and suffice to say, I think I will be writing more for this fandom just out of sheer frustration. I love the concepts of the drama and it had such great potential, but the execution was so very lacking that I would say the story has more plotholes than plot. The hero has almost nothing to do (no wonder the actor was going to turn down the role but only accepted because of his costar), the most interesting backstory about the MAIN CHARACTER became an afterthought (oh wow, so that's your real identity?! But by this point, no one CARES anymore!), and based on actor interviews I'm starting to think the director told them flat out to stay expressionless and basically not act.
These actors and these characters deserved so much better than what they got. This was a drama supposedly about the legend of Chu Qiao, but it might as well have been titled Yan Xun's Revenge. And can I point out yet again that our hero has no agency and spends 90% of the drama sitting around doing nothing but reading/writing letters, except when he's not off saving her every once in a while, and then btw, he had a bestie secret pen pal all along, but his big defining internal struggle apparently comes down to finding out she's actually an enemy. What, really? Seriously?
This drama. What a freaking mess. I just don't understand how so much potential turned into a whole lot of nothing.
Even the incoherent mess of a 300k word story that was my LOTR fanfic, written by a 13 year old, in which I revived random characters and quite honestly had no idea what I was doing, made more sense than Princess Agents. Don't even get me started on the romance, either.
The shipper in me wanted to rewrite entire scenes to save my OTP. Because right now, as I'm two episodes from the end, I'm about to throw my hands up and say "what romance?!" Don't get me wrong, I prefer subtlety in character interactions, but when you have two of the best looking actors, who could totally have great chemistry, and you give them almost nothing to work with, the end result would look a lot like Princess Agents.
I guess I'll go finish the last two episodes and attempt to stop myself from rewriting the whole dang drama out of outrage...
8/12/17 - Well this is awkward. So out of nowhere, I decided I absolutely HAD to write this fanfic. It's a simple story/concept but it's rare that the entire thing basically is in my head already just waiting for me to write it down. It took only about an hour. So in other words, it's not exactly what I call a quality fic, but I was ok with posting it. Then I ran into a slight problem. I was going to post it on AO3 since I made an account there 5 years ago but had never posted anything there. It wasn't something I particularly wanted to post here or on my ficjournal (bloodredrosez @ livejournal) with my Kpop stuff. For some reason, possibly because the account was inactive for at least 5 years, my AO3 account has disappeared.
Now AO3 has been around for a while now so I had no idea it's still in beta stage and to sign up, you need an invite. No problem, right? Uh, there's like 8000 people in the queue and I MIGHT get an invite code 8/22, by which time for all I know, I might be completely over my Princess Agents phase and be too busy IRL to be making an account just to post some 3k story that I don't think is particularly good but was fun to write. Whew. I also asked my IRL friend for a code but as an existing AO3 member for a good many years, it somehow won't let her request invite codes at all.
2/14/16 - If you have been reading my Anita Blake fanfic, you might be surprised to know that after more than 10 years I finally finished The Art of the Fugue. Obviously it'll be my last ABVH fanfic as I lost interest in the fandom years ago, but I decided to go back and finish it off. It's very NC-17, so you've been warned.
4/26/15 - I revised and wrote some extra bits for the last chapter of Dare You to Live since I was never really satisfied with it, but this will definitely be the last time I edit anything for that story again.
7/23/14 - It's done. Finally. Sorry for the long wait everyone, I've been in Germany and the Czech Republic for half a month and life has been exhausting. There's always too much to do and too little time. Obviously I haven't shared any original stuff in years and am not likely to post online anything I'm trying to get published, but I've been thinking of setting up something so I can share with a few trusted readers and get some feedback.

FFN seems to just eat up my links now but I also have stories up in other places and under other aliases. However, if it's posted in one place, it won't be posted anywhere else. I don't have duplicates of ANY story up so if you come across another copy of my story, I'd appreciate a PM.
