Author has written 4 stories for Harry Potter.
Hi, I am Johnny Farrar. I am a male graduate student in my early twenties doing my honour's in Computer Science.
Reading is a passionate hobby of mine. I enjoy the works of the writers such as Edgar Alan Poe, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Michael Crichton, Dan Brown, Robin Cook, Alistair MacLean. The first person perspective stories as written by Alistair Maclean are probably the best in the genre. My favourite from his stories is 'The Dark Crusader'. If you haven't read any of stories I urge you to read them. If you like stories with thriller, mystery, filled with intrigue and lots of action, you will undoubtedly like his works.
I started reading fanfiction 2 to 3 years ago, starting with Lori Summers's Harry Potter and the Paradigm of Uncertainty. After that I started reading fanfic voraciously, browsing different fanfic web-sites and reading any Harry Potter fanfic that was moderately well-written and when I mean moderately well-written, I mean stories where you can make sense of what is written, considering the average quality of fanfiction. Since, then I have developed much more finer tastes in regards of fanfic. Few things a story must contain for me to like it: well-written with correct grammar and spelling, interesting and captivating plot and good execution of the idea of the story.
My preferred genres in Harry Potter fanfiction are Independent Harry and Dark Harry. And when I say Independent Harry, I mean a realistically independent Harry not a ranting, idiotic one who can't get enough of telling people how badly his life sucks. In case of Dark Harry stories, I prefer really dark stories and not where Harry simply wakes up one day and decides to learn the Dark Arts. It doesn't have to be a evil Harry but the difference between any other genre and the Dark part must be detailed and well defined.
It's only recently that I have taken to writing after forming numerous plot bunnies in my mind.
Work In Progress:
A Story of Hallows and Horcruxes: A fast-paced action thriller that chronicles Harry's journey as he seeks to destroy the Horcruxes. Follow Harry Potter as he faces desertion from friends, courts allies amidst enemies and traverses through a quagmire of uncharted and undefined magic.
This is not abandoned. I will finish this story. Just have no idea when.
The Potter Politics: Power comes in various ways and forms. A young Harry learns of the power that the station in his life grants him. Politics, intellect and magic all comes together as Harry struggles to combat the forces that seek to utilise him to their nefarious ends.
A new story that I'm penning. Instead of a through well-developed plot and characterisation, I'll be jumping to the major plots, though not out of sequence. Updates will be sporadic as my other main story takes precedence. Also, unlike my other story, this one is not an action fic, it deals with politics, manipulations, black-mailing and shadow government.
First Year is done! Work ongoing on Second Year.
Tequila: Despite the overwhelming odds, Harry refused to put down his wand or his bottle of tequila.
A Harry/Tracey one-shot with some smut and plenty of action. The one-shot is M rated and intended for mature audiences only. This story remains a one-shot. I've no intention to continue this.
The Duellist: A challenge to a mid-night duel alters Harry Potter’s fate. Given a taste of the thrill and excitement of a wizard’s duel, Harry’s life takes a sudden turn as he immerses himself into the noble art of his fore-fathers— Duelling.
A one-shot that was written for DLP's inaugural January's General themed contest. It's a one-shot for now but might just become a full-fledged story.
This one-shot has managed to find a place for itself in the DLP's vaunted library. Given how difficult it is for stories to survive the review process there. I am quite proud of it.
None at the moment, other than my one-shots.
Fool's Gold: A Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy one-shot. This one is almost done and I'll post it when I've finished editing.
I only have a section of work left on this, however, I've no idea when I'll upload this.
Apocalypse: Another one-shot that I've been thinking about writing for a while. A post-apocalyptic Britain, that has gone through a terrible war will be the theme of the story.
Vendetta: I really want to write this one. I've already started typing down small snippets of this story. After it is done, I will start posting. Don't expect it for another six months at the very least. Story will be dark and hopefully believable
Progress: Four chapters done out of unknown. On going work on the fifth chapter.
Salvation and Damnation: Another one, that I'm thinking about writing. It'll be Harry/Fleur and will deliberate on how exactly things can go wrong with The Greater Good. I'll take a departure from the genres I usually write in, so this will not contain dark or action themes instead will be slightly angst and romance.
Progress: Two chapters done out of a planned twelve. Third chapter done.
None of this stories are going to come out until I'm finished writing them. Given how much I otherwise delay in updating stories.
Updates: They will come when I am done with the latest chapter. If I, however, ever abandon my stories, there will be a formal notice.
Reviews: They are essential for any author. In depth reviews are always preferable but a simple 'I like it' and 'I don't like it' also suffices. All you have to do leave a review is too press the button at the end of the story and type your review. You don't have to be a member at fanfiction.net to leave a review.
I don't know whether I will be able to reply to every piece of review that I get anymore. I am too busy as it is. And I am sure you would like me to write more than to type review replies. I will still try to reply if I can though and I do read every single piece of review that I get, often more than once.
Twitter: You can also follow me on Twitter. I post info about updates of current stories and any upcoming new stories there. Link is my homepage.
