I can't leave this page blank forever, can I?
I'm Sarah, thirty-something mum of three kids, two boys ages 8 and 6 and a 4 year old girl.
Before reading the Twilight Saga I hadn't read a single book in years. Seriously. I was an avid reader until I had kids. After I had them, I thought I was too busy to read. I was heavily into blogging, scrapbooking, cardmaking, photography and cooking. Most of those things went by the wayside when I discovered fanfiction. I had asked a friend if she could recommend any other books similar to Twilight and she pointed me over to Twilighted. I was hooked, and probably would have stayed there exclusively if it weren't for the design of the site.
I'm a reader, not a writer. I do, however, often consider trying my hand at fanfiction. Maybe one day I'll give it a go.
I don't think I've picked up a stamp or an inkpad since I first read Twilight. My beloved Canon 30D has been sadly neglected, but I am consciously taking more photos of the kids these days. I stay up way too late at night (early morning?) reading fic. I am a sucker for cliffhangers.
You can find me at Twitter.
While I usually only read completed fics, here is a list of those I will drop everything for:
Obviously there are others, but off the top of my head these are the ones that I wait impatiently for.
With all the fics being pulled to be published lately, I've made a fairly firm decision to only start reading completed fics. This means I'm not reviewing nearly as much as I used to. That's sad, because there were certain fics that I reviewed each and every single chapter until they were pulled. There are still some fics in progress that I will drop everything, those mentioned above for instance.
I really believe that it's bad form for a fic author to pull a half finished fic to *try* and publish it. You've grabbed characters that belong to S. Meyer and are claiming them as your own. Even if you change their names, the colour of their hair, the towns they live in - they are still Edward and Bella and that's why we love them. If you plan on publishing the story you're posting here as original fiction one day, then please wait until it's finished before you pull it.
I won't pay for a reworked fanfiction story, no matter what you do to the characthers. I most definitely will not buy a reworked non-completed fic that is pulled to be published. It's like blackmail. We fall in love with these characters, we want to know the rest of their story and then you rip them away and want us to pay for the ending.
No. Just, no.
Ok, getting off my high horse now.
Authors: I use my story alerts as a way to keep track of fics I am waiting for. Most often, as mentioned above, I won't start a fic unless it's complete. Alerts let me know when a story is complete. Please don't be offended if I don't regularly review your work; I probably will once I read it.
