Greetings readers and fellow members of Fanfiction, I am Martian Scout, formerly known 082 Martian Scout -- (in case you didn't recognize me without the number.)
If you are wondering why I changed my penname; I have actually been debating it for a while, but it didn't really seem that important before so I never got around to it. When I was first signing up for Fanfiction, I didn't have a clue what to use for my penname (I didn't want to copy one of my favorite character's name and risk presenting myself as a total fanboy, which actually is the case) so instead, ironically, I actually followed the name structure of Halo character 343 Guilty Spark (who I thought was a rather humorous and inspirational character in spite of his descent into insanity) and scrapped together the most random selection of words and numbers I could muster -- "Martian" because I liked science fiction stories and video games, mostly involving aliens; "Scout" because I rather entertained the idea of exploring, or scouting, unknown and exotic worlds; and "082" because it was the page number of a book I liked and I often had trouble remember where I left off. So, I have decided to remove the "082" from my name and simply go by "Martian Scout" -- since it closely resembles "Marshall Scott," (not my real name) I thought about using it as a potential alias in case anyone inquired on my real name. We all need to protect ourselves when it comes to Internet social media, right.
I consider myself a veteran writer, though I dare not to boast. I don't know if you've read any of my more recent reviews, but I'll have you know I'm professing to be a constructive critic for the benefit of all Fanfiction writers. I know some people propably aren't fond of someone pointing this out and calling that like I see it, but just let me be honest - if I read your story and told you there was nothing wrong with it, how would that motivate you to improve, especially if those of you truly aspire to become published novelists.
Let it be known it is NEVER my intent to dissuade nor discourage anyone from writing and freely expressing themselves in Fanfiction - art and self-expression is for everyone. Maybe what I say in my reviews might give you pause, maybe it won't, but just know that I usually give my constructive criticism to those I believe have the potential to novelists.
Newest Update: As of June 12th, 2016, I now have access to Grand Theft Auto Online. So, if anyone here is a GTA 5 Online player and wants to look me up, I am going by my Fanfiction username: Martian_Scout. If you do find me, all I ask is that you show me a little mercy -- I'm still learning the ropes, while trying to level up. Other than that, I'm sure we will have a blast.
Original Character (OC) History...
In time, I have used a few OCs in a few of my stories, as long as I had their permission and mentioned that the OC belongs to them, I was allowed to use the character in my stories.
The Good Thief's Cody Brown - was one of the first OCs I was allowed to use, according to his Design Form, he was an English Grey wolf and a pilot with well known skills in martial arts, whom had a good heart and a set of morals. He was also considered a good friend to many of his allies. In my stories, he was an Assault/Reconnaissance Chopper (ARC) pilot assigned to work with Wilson's team.
- He first started in my first half of a story "Masquerade" and of course stared in its sequel "Masquerade pt2". Later on, he was going to star in Voodoo Vengeance, but unfortunately I lost interest in writing the fanfic, so eventually I might get back to it. The last of my stories he started in was "Treason" where he helped the mistaken for a traitor - J. B. Wilson - and Sly Cooper escape from Interpol. In future stories, I am hoping to have him star in my In Progress fanfic series - the Untold Chronicles.
ravioli-jo's Masquerade - was a female cougar at the age of 17, though despite her age and appearance, she was actually a sociopath. With her sword of Japanese steel, her capability and strength in martial arts, and her masquerade ball mask, some could easily compare her to Jason Voorhees or the Predator in young woman form. The term "silent, lethal assassin" is what she is considered.
- She was really the main character in "Masquerade" and "Masquerade pt2" as the assassin of Rome, whom of which was taken under the wing of my most popular OC villain - Rollo Kio - who had trained her and assigned her with the task of killing Sly Cooper. However, when she failed and was incarcerated in Lockjaw Prison, Kio arrived and supplied her with the means of escaping, and the stories end there. But as a sequel to the twin stories of "The Hunt" and as a prime sequel to "UC: Lockout", Masquerade returns to star in "Conspiracy" whereas she is mostly the main OC character who helps Kio plot a conspiracy against the Chinese Empire.
Jammin Jabala's Julius Black - was - aside from Masquerade - probably one of the most popular and interesting OCs I've ever come to feature in a story. His creation - by my good friend Jammin Jabala - was inspire by the series "Untold Chronicles" to be a pirate fellow crew member among Sly Cooper's ship, the Gallantry. He was a tall and built crocodile with a dark personality, and overwhelming greed.
- First staring in the Untold Chronicles' "Melancholy and Repent", as the heir of his pirate ancestor, he stowed away aboard the Gallantry and sailed with the rest of the hired crew in hopes to claim a great treasure he believed was rightfully his - because his ancestor, Maurice Black, attempted mutiny and failed, he grew angry and wanted to reclaim the treasure to rebuild his family's honor. However, in "UC: Lockout", when he betrayed Sly, stole a detonator, and tried to get at the treasure within the bio-weapons facility, his attempt failed and he was killed by AAI21-Borg/Arpeggio - when he disarmed him and allowed an In Progress bio-test subject to kill him. However, in the end of the story, a his DNA was placed in a cloning procedure and a new Reincarnated clone of him was formed and now floating in the clone tank. This leads to a "To Be Continued" description for his return to life.
As you can see from the EXAMPLES, your OC will certainly go through a big adventure, a great story if you should accept submitting an OC to me.
The Art of Writing
Writers are the same thing as artists, and writing is an art of its own. When we write stories, poems, etc., it is like painting a picture. Words are our colors, we need to use them to create a picture of what we're trying to explain in our story, so that the reader can picture and imagine the feeling and appearance what we are describing. Words are paints, paint a picture with words. As said, "A picture is worth a thousand words," and if so, then we can make a beautifully described scene in one chapter using exactly only a thousand words.
