Author has written 1 story for Pride and Prejudice. xoxox Hi everyone! I'm Bolivian. From La Paz, to be precise. In my 40s. Happy single. No kids. I teach English as a foreign language. Have lived a little bit more than 3/4 of those 40 plus years in my hometown. The other 1/4 in the US. In the PNW. Mostly Seattle. I still miss it sometimes... One of the things I miss the most is how green everything is... So many trees there!! Whenever I see a picture/video with a road with tall trees on either side, I get all sentimental. There is so much green everywhere!! —Even in Winter, when seasonal greens are 'on vacation.' My home town, La Paz, on the other hand —which used to be colder when I was a kid— is mostly hot and dry now. Global warming, I suppose, how sad. Even the air felt strange and heavy when I got back. There aren't many green forested areas to boast of, probably that's why. But there are some good things to make up for that. There are prettier cities, like Cochabamba. Santa Cruz is bigger, though in the latter's kind of heat, I'd melt like the wicked with of the west! There are many nice touristic spots, Google those if ever you're curious. There's a lot to choose from to come and visit... Though I miss the PNW, on the flip side, my family lives here, so there is that!! And the food is great. Other than that... Have you ever had (a) family member(s) that you (have to) love, but they kind of piss you off half the time...? THAT is my sentimental relationship with my country... —BIG roll of the eyes here! x About my PnP story: I'm working (slowly, really slowly but surely) to add new chapters when I get to edit the outlined and drafted chapters I do have. There are some things that need to be taken out, and I've others to add. If anyone would like to help beta-ing with grammar or help me make sense of the structure in the story —I'm struggling with how to include/merge some plot poits— I'd be incredibly thankful. I'm not a writer, but I'm stubborn enough to finish this. Even if it takes long enough for great nieces/nephews to be born by that time!! It's taking time, SOOOOORRY!! If I get an idea, and Lady Muse speaks, work and RL get in the way. And then when Lady Muse DOESN'T speak, I've all the time in the world! GAH! Well... One day... Un dia... Un giorno... Ek din... —एक दिन— Plz don't be too angry at me?? x For now, I don't know what else to add... Actually, that's a lie! Since this is supposed to be some kind of short summary about yours truly. So: • Favorite singer: Josh Groban • Favorite instrumental music: William Joseph Lindsey Stirling • Favorite (American) movies: Far And Away, Serendipity, Titanic, Stardust. • Favorite authors: Philippa Gregory, Isabel Allende • Favorite book: or one that made an impact: Brida • Favorite TV Shows: Smallville, TVD, Chuck • Favorite Miniseries: The White Queen, War And Peace (2016) • Favorite "Eye candy:" Tom Ellis, Giulio Berruti, Ian Somerhalder. • Favorite junk food: Pizza x • I enjoy washing dishes, but I hate to iron clothes • I love to sing and dance while doing chores • I'm most definitely NOT a morning person • It's difficult for me to cry when I'm sad • But I cry at the drop of a hat when I'm happy • The last time I fell in love, I was 24. • I discovered my love for teaching by chance • I was never a good student, though... x A confession to the fandom of my W.I.P here... aka JAFF: Though I love Colin Firth in EVERYTHING else. He's NOT my Mr. Darcy of choice... For me personally, the BBC's 1995 Miniseries was... Insert the "puke-y green" emoticon here. And even if somehow I could (maybe) see Firth as Darcy. The one that I cannot abide —Even if they paid me millions— as Lizzy Bennet is 'that Ehle woman'... just... NO. Sorry. Not sorry... I'm a "Matty McFaddy Fan" all the way!! ALWAYS FOREVER!! Keira Knightley was good as Lizzy, though I liked Lily James better, just without the zombies... Others I liked are Anna Maxwell, Gemma Arterton, and Ashley Clements. x It's been over a year since I fell in love with Hindi Cinema a.k.a. Bollywood!! And also the language!! I can understand loose words here and there, and some basic phrases. I'm obsessed with pronunciation, though. More than the practical use of the language, meaning I'm not, at the moment, concentrating on it for communication purposes. However... I've already learned to sing along to —at least parts of— many songs! I've compiled 200 of my favorite songs in 2 Spotify Playlists! —The links are in my Pinterest account. In the "Playlists" album. More on that later. Once, 'waaaay' back, I said I would never try my luck with a language that didn't use the Latin alphabet, but lo and behold... Lol!! Here I am... but for the moment, I'm only using transliteration instead of Devanagari. About the movies... The first ever movie in Hindi I watched was "Vivah" (2006) back in 2 010. But it was that one movie only. I'm watching stuff in Hindi, but eventually will branch out to other languages! Last year, I discovered Madhuri Dixit, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Kriti Sanon, Vaani Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and others. I'd already watched a non-Bollywood but Bollywood-like movie with Aishwarya Rai, a modern take on Pride Prejudice BTW, "Bride Prejudice." Some male actors whose movies I've watched are Shahid Kapoor ("Vivah"), though since my 'big discovery,' also Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan (SRK), Farhan Akhtar, Abhishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Sushant Singh Rajput () and other senior actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor. My favorite (Indian) actor is Hrithik Roshan. He's 50 going on 35–ish. He's a good actor, he's a tremendously gifted dancer, and as a plus, he's incredibly good looking. I don't mean to objectify, but one would have to be blind not to see he IS nice. The first two movies of his I watched were "Krrish" (2006) and "Jodhaa Akbar" (2008). After, there was no going back! Actually, I found out about him by association... To make the story short, I'll just give you this chain: Game Of Thrones — Sophie Turner — Jonas Brothers — Priyanka Chopra — "Krrish" — TA-DA!! Plz check his movies...? There's a movie of his that's spoken 1/3 in Spanish, 1/3 in English, and 1/3 in Hindi. The title is "Kites." The Spanish speaking crowd may like to know that the main female role is played by none other than Barbara Mori!! Our favorite 'Mean Girl' telenovela character 'Rubí'!! Including myself here cause I'm Hispanic... So telenovelas 'are in my blood.' LOL! Movies I'd recommend that I think have higher chances to attract regular western tastes: • "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" —ज़िन्दगी न मिलेगी दोबारा. The feel-good, fuzzy-feelings type. • "War" if you want or like action movies. Very Mission Impossible-like stunts wise. • "Kaabil" —काबिल. If you want drama, action, and good acting. Trigger themes, though. • "Bang Bang!" Has a little bit of everything. A remake of Tom Cruise's 'Knight and Day.' • "Guzarish" —गुज़ारिश. If you want a really sad one. Amazing thespian skills there, BTW. Only then! If you're ready, you can go for the (in)famous Bollywood 'cheesiness'... Cause... I won't lie. There IS THAT (I apologize to anyone from India reading this, sorry.) in a big percentage of movies. But at least in my case, growing up watching telenovelas, I've some kind of 'vaccine —wink wink— cause of the stuff I got used to watch since childhood, a.k.a. the level of drama and overacting. However, obviously, as everywhere else, there's a little bit for every taste. There are really GOOD movies. With and without cheese... One of the CLASSICS, super famous, part of their cinema history, everyone-loves-it movie, is 2001's "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham," —कभी ख़ुशी कभी ग़म. It's a 3.5 hour long RomCom/Drama. With two of their most beloved (male) actors: Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. The latter has the lead role. It was directed by a famous director, Karan Johar. If you happened to have seen "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani" (it came out last year), it's from the same director. Onto other things... My Pinterest page —I go by the same name as here, the profile pic is the same too— has an album with other (Bollywood) movies I've watched so far, though they're not that many yet, if anyone might be interested. Another album has links to Spotify Playlists I've put together. If you're interested, there are two Josh Groban Playlists, his studio albums in one, and live recordings in other. There is a Celine Dion Playlist link. Also, one for BSB, and one for Nick Carter's solo albums. Two of them have songs in Hindi. One is a 'Mix Tape' with many famous Bollywood movie songs. The other has songs from Hrithik Roshan films. There is also an album —This one related to my PnP fic— with pictures that would be in "Love, Honor and Duty" Pemberly portrait gallery. To give you an idea of how I imagine our ODC to look like. Actually, they are the 2 leads from an Italian mimi series: "La Figlia Di Elisa, Ritorno a Rivombrosa." Including a few contemporary 'oils' of O.C. descendants in the Prologue. If you want to see them, the album name is the title of the fic.XAlrighty, I'll stop now.I'll leave you with my favorite William Shakespeare sonnet to say bye.Yes, I know, predictable. But I like it anyway... X Hugs to all from Bolivia! X FireRose X "Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments, Love is not love, which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove. O no, it is an ever-fixed mark That looks on tempests and is never shaken. It is the star to every wand'ring bark, Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken. Love's not time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle's compass come. Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, But bears it out even to the edge of doom. If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ, nor no man ever loved." |
