I am writer, therefore my sanity is of that sort peculiar to all writers: it perches on a narrow and crumbling ledge overlooking the bottomless chasm of insanity, ruffles its useless fluffy wings, and whistles in an annoyingly cheerful manner. As I have chosen to pursue a degree and career in writing, I sometimes doubt if my sanity is on the ledge anymore, or if the ledge even still exists.
I enjoy the works of the particularly mad species Fanfictionus Writerous, which will write for no reason other than pleasure, with no hope of ever receiving any compensation for their labors. I am not publicly one of their number -- yet -- but this may well change with time.
Almost any story draws me if it is written well, though I do not read or write slash or stories with explicit content. I will sample work from almost any fandom, including ones that my possibly wiser friends tell me I am mad for setting foot in. (They should bear in mind that I am already, by my own assessment, mad.) I am a particular sucker for family and sibling fics, bromance, and close platonic relationships of all kinds, as well as drama, familiy, and hurt/comfort genres.
The Lord of the Rings fandom was my entry drug of choice, and I have since broadened my tastes to encompass many others. A sampling of these:
And then there are the random fandoms that I'm not actually interested in fanfic for, but that I found cool stories in anyway:
If I've added an author to my favorites list, I like most of their stories--and didn't want to clutter my list of favorite stories by adding everything that an author has ever written (considering that some of my best-loved authors have story counts in the high double-digits or low triple-digits). My favorite stories list is a hodgepodge of anything and everything I really enjoyed when I read it.
I thoroughly enjoy reading and reviewing good stories, and giving pointers where they could be of benefit. If I've reviewed for you and you have any questions or comments, please send me a message. I will be more than happy to reply, chatter back and forth, brainstorm story ideas, and pretty much anything else that falls under the general category of "talk".
