Just going to leave my apology over at the top here...I'm very sorry that I'll either be dropping some stories or leaving them on a hiatus. =/ I really just can't keep up with all of them, and I might stick to one shots. My dad's illness has gotten worse, and I'm needed by my family right now. If I post something, consider it lucky.
I'm also very busy with my schedule. I am a high school student, but it is my junior year, I'm taking 4 AP Classes to try and make my way into NYU, I have a part time job, I'm in a precollege program for music, I'm in a separate youth orchestra, I'm in my school's chamber orchestra, I take private lessons for my instrument, and I'm the captain of my school's quizbowl team. " I'm quite the busy girl between all of that and helping my mom around the house.
Thank you for understanding. I love you all!
My name is Lauren, and I am 16 years old.
I'd like to say thank you for visiting my page, and reading my stories! I literally get like this stupid grin whenever I get a review; seriously, it warms my heart! Thank you so much to those who give me support
I write about Sonic; I like the Sonic franchise too much for my own good.
Now I wouldn't call myself 'normal' per se...but I do live a life surrounded by loving friends and family, and couldn't ask for anything more.
If you ever need someone to talk to, no matter who you are I'm always ready to help anyone who may need it! Please do contact me if you have a problem.
Also, fun fact: I curse. A lot. And I'm sorry if I swore somewhere down there and it insulted you, but it's natural for me. I try so hard to like...completely minimize the swearing in my story to prevent everyone from being out of character, but sometimes I end up deleting like five "dammits" per chapter, along with worse things.
I don't really know what else to say, so happy reading! I don't know if you can tell, but I'm a sucker for some SonAmy, and my favorite character is Amy! If the rest of my profile annoys you, then I am sorry. It's simply my personal opinions of these subjects, so please don't feel offended if one of the things I mentioned is in your stories...things can work if you do them well! But I'm mainly complaining about stories that lack depth.
Oh and I just really hate when people say Sonikku. I just really, really hate it.
My current works in progress:
These are the ones I have not written/finished/uploaded. Basically ideas before I write them, to let you know most likely what I'll be doing in the future. I have lots of ideas, and most of the names are subject to change.
1) Whipped Cream: Whipped cream is sweet and fluffy, which is exactly what I'm writing. You'll have to wait and see. :3
2) Reach for the Stars: Sonic's friends are all feeling a bit discouraged, and our blue hero needs to lift them all off of their feet!
3) Sunshine: Just a good name for a one-shot. Can't really reveal much about one-shots, or it spoils.
4) Paranoia: Name subject to change, one-shot about Sonic and Amy later in their lives.
5) Remake of: If you Love me, Try and Find me: Why? Because somehow, it's like my most popular story with the most views, and it sucks. Really badly.
6) Blossom: Sequel to All Along
7) New long term story without a name as of right now. Amy is being watched and feels uneasy with her life. (I've been thinking this one over for a while)
8) Love me, punch me: I might be stoned to death for this one. You'll see why. Name subject to change.
9) Half finished one-shot. Haven't named it yet but I'm 2,000 words in.
Current stories on the site that I'm working on:
The Girl with the Light in her Eyes: Okay, I'm having a lot of trouble deciding where to take this, because I don't want to do what you'd expect me to do. So I think I'll be going down a route where I'll shock my reader with the ending; I really hope you enjoy this story, because honestly, what I'm most proud of is the first few chapters of this. I strive to make you feel with the characters.
Sonic: After the Fact: Working on my humor, LOL. I'm killing it with the Knuckles doesn't chuckle joke, but whatever...=P I love Knuckles. This story is fun to write!
If you Love me, Try and Find me: I hate this story. I wrote it 3 or 4 years ago now, and every time I see it, I get angry that somehow that story has the most reviews out of all of mine. Sally is OOC, hell Sonic is even OOC. Amy is OOC too, who am I kidding. She would never run away from her friends and make them all worry about her; that's just like...attention whore. Yeah, so I might remake this one, changing the plot a little bit to be similar, yet still keep the elements of the story. OOC Sally is not an element of the new story though. Also don't even get me started on n00by terms like "POV"
The Missing Melody: I'm very critical of myself, but this is one of the few stories of mine that I actually really like. I'm more proud of this than Girl with the Light, because this story really captures me as a person. I'm funny (or at least I try to be), and I also enjoy romance, it makes me happy.
All Along: I really like this one as well. It was actually pretty easy to write, which for some reason is common with me and my baw stories. Depressing stuff comes out easier than happy stuff for me. Wow that sentence was descriptive. But yeah, if you want to see my opinion on Tails' emotions directly following Sonic x...here you go.
My Moonlight Angel: What a stupid title. I totally just took the last sentence and made it into a title...and when the heck would Sonic say "my dear" XD I guess I forgot how to use the line break tool, so I thought "..." was a fitting break. FYI: It's not. Also, I think I went a little...italic crazy. Sonic is also OOC: if you write a SonAmy, it's okay to start with Sonic crushing on Amy; in media it's obvious he has a crush on her, but it's not love. Love needs to be developed, and this...I don't wanna go into it.
Amy, the Beloved Thief: First of all, I dare you to go back, read this, and tell me how many times I started a paragraph with "but". Second of all, the only awkward part of the story is spelling it "akward" LAUREN PLZ! SPELL CHECK! I was a bit happy about my plot twist at the end though; shows even then I could write a bit of humor
Story of a Teapot: I love this. I love tea, and I thought of this randomly one day while I was drinking some green tea, and it just happened. I've been writing poetry for years now, I wouldn't say this is a brilliant piece of poetry, mostly because I accommodated to the readers on this site by using a rhyme scheme. I don't usually do rhyme, but I figured people here would appreciate it more. I really enjoyed writing this though, it honestly just came out really quickly, and I didn't go back to fix much. I might make a flash animation of this in the future, once I get a better computer.
Crazy for you: Probably like...the worst title ever. LOL It sort of fits because ya know, Rosy is kind of insane...but that's why I love her! ;w; She was hilarious when she first debuted, Sonic kindly informing Amy that it "reminds him of a certain someone". I loved this part in the comics, and let me tell you: I read the comics and typically I'm not thrilled with the stories. I loved the Megaman crossover though. Right, the story. This was fun to write! I did it as a request for someone, but it really did help me to grow a little bit, putting together characters with such difficult personalities to make fluff out of. I mean it's pure evil and crazy, but that's why it works!
Something I'm adding onto here just because I've been reading a lot of stories, and I have to nitpick.
Top 10 Things I Hate in Sonic Fan fictions
10: Mixing game world, comic world and anime world
Not something I hate but more of a pet peeve; I don't like when characters from like every single thing appear. Like you got ChrisxSally fan fiction with a Marauder attack. No. The universes are totally separate. Sonic x Sonic has no idea that Sally exists and there are no Marauders. (If you didn't know, Marauders are from Sonic Chronicles)
9: "There is Sonamy, a little bit of Crails, some Knuxouge, some Shasmo oh and a hint of Silvaze"
Another pet peeve is when someone reveals all the freaking couplings in the summary. Let it surprise the reader; if you have a summary that's like "Who will come to mend Amy's heart?" Then you say "SONAMY LULZ" It pretty much gives the entire story away. Also I hate when people do like 6000000 couples in their description.
Now I hate OCs; just going to start with that. They aren't part of the Sonic series, and usually they're Mary-Sues who have the love of like 20 characters from the series, have super powers, and both of their parents are dead. I had an OC when I was 10; her name was Emi, she could morph into different element forms, her mother is dead and her dad raped her as a child. Yes, I didn't realize how stupid it was at the time. Yeah, stop doing that guys. Please. Anyway OCs are okay in some situations, but if a story is OCxOC OCxOC without any Sonic characters, that's a story, not a Sonic fan fiction. And OCxSonic or OCxShadow...I don't really know how to respond to those.
7: "Sonic discovers that he has the power to kill when he says "lol" and can control water lol!!!!"
Basically, if you're making Sonic have like 20 new superpowers, then newsflash; this is no longer a Sonic fan fiction. All you're doing is calling a completely different superhero Sonic. Stick with the super speed and cocky attitude.
6: Spell Check please!
You have spell check; use it. That's really all there is to say.
5: Lack of descriptions
I notice a lot of fan fictions in the Sonic category are way too short and they lack any kind of descriptive language.I guess this has nothing to do with Sonic fan fictions themselves, but I see it in the Sonic ones all of the time.
4: Sally/Amy is a total bitch
I'm guilty. I wrote something like 3-4 years ago where Sally was a bitch, but hey in the end at least I made her realize her mistake. (God my writing was bad back then! I called sex "a special ritual". Lol 12 year old me.) But in reality, that is very out of character for the both of them. If you read the comics (nerdy ol' me) then you would know that Sally is not a total bitch, and cares for the people she rules under. Do I like her? No. But I don't write about her; I discovered Sonic through games, not comics. Amy is and always will be my favorite character, and Amy applies to this too. In the comics, Amy has gone out of her way just to ensure Sonic was happy, even when it was with Sally. In one issue she got everyone to leave Sonic and Sally alone, so that they could have a peaceful night together. So thoughtful when Amy loves him in the meantime.
3: OOC Shadow
Now I don't mind playing around with Shadow a little bit, but we know what he's like. Shadow is not a teddy bear who is here to save a broken girl's heart. I know that him and a couple of people are closer than others, but I've seen times where Shadow just completely strays from that dark, deep character that he was given. He isn't a stone but he isn't a drama queen either.
2: High School.
Sorry if you've written Sonic high school stories, but I really hate them. I find it stupid that they'd all be going to a high school, they're freaking animals that live on the planet of Mobius, and they save the world, not the prom date. Often times these stories are very poorly written, with pretty much no one in character. Also...half of the cast isn't in high school.
1: When Amy calls Sonic "Sonikku"
Alright this drives me totally insane, because that is not a nickname for him. It is merely how his name is pronounced in any Japanese dub of a Sonic show, or the Japanese voices in games. Like if I had a boyfriend named "Nick", I'd never call him "Nicku" Ew. But believe it or not, this will make me stop reading a story completely. And this really is the thing that annoys me the most about Sonic fan fictions.
-2: Maria the Hedgehog and ShadowxMaria
Do I even need to explain this one...? Okay so for starters: Maria is dead. As in, never coming back to life and never will. Her death is an important part of Shadow's back story that makes him who he is, and he does not love her like that! That's weird for the same reasons Elise kissing Sonic was weird! (OH I WENT THERE) And why do you make her a hedgehog? She's not a hedgehog; she is a human girl, and any other hedgehog named Maria is your stupid OC. She is a human girl that was killed, and that Shadow loved like a sister.
Some interesting things about how I write my stories and how I look at others;
I have a love/hate relationship with titles. A really perplexing title makes me go "Wow!" and when I see a title like "Sonic likes Amy" "Story about how Sonic loves Amy" "Shadow is cool" I go "there is no way in hell I'm reading that." Sadly with this fanbase comes having to search for diamonds in the rough, and sometimes it feels very difficult. I hope my stories make people smile like some have done to me.
But I also can't stand coming up with titles myself sometimes. I write my titles after I finish the story, and they almost always come out cheesey. For works with many chapters, I normally have a REALLY tough time coming up with engaging titles because sometimes I take my story a totally different direction than I planned. Ideas hit me and I have to go with them; so I can't make my titles too specific.
One-shots are easy; write it and take either a theme, something in the last few sentences or whatever; it makes a good title. And sometimes while I write I go "OH OH! SONIC SAYS THIS AND THAT'S MY TITLE!" Then ya know I shake with glee like a little child. :P
I'm not easy to please. I really almost can't read stories where people say "you're glasses are cute" or something like that. Please, your and you're; don't mix them up. I see this in people's summaries for god's sake. Spell-check, punctuation, everything like that helps.
If you go against the guidelines, I will report you. It doesn't make you a bad person, but...please, script format? Interacting with the audience through reviews? That's not a story, nor is it interesting to read...
Also it kind of pisses me off when I see something like that with 40 reviews with tiny short 500 word chapters and I'm sitting here like "wow, this is really bad" Not that anyone is perfect (myself included), but PLEASE read the guidelines.
As nasty as I may seem right now, I actually am a kind person. Believe it or not, I actually am a pretty nice person that tries to support people learning to write stories. Sadly, I find that many people ultimately end up with something in the categories of the 12 things I said above. I will mostly get angry if I find that you have stories that are against the rules, and that is because of the clear ignorance a user displays. Read the rules before you post a story; there's a reason fanfiction.net makes you agree to the terms once a week.
Also if I have left you constructive criticism and you either ignore it, or tell me "it's my story I do what I want" (Got a couple of those now), that's when I get angry. I still will never flame, I know better than to put myself at a level where I get frustrated at children (I've never cursed at anyone on this site for their response; I usually don't respond to the PM and just feel angry at the world).
But yeah, ignoring constructive criticism is like backwards progress. Let's face it, we're here because we aren't the best writers in the world; we're simply trying to improve all the time. I love it when I get a long review telling me something I did wrong, because then I'll strive very hard to fix it. I don't say "oh well don't like it don't read it", because if any person has a good reason to not like it, you want to hear why. Also: I love criticism! Leave me some.
And I mean any good reason. If you write romance about a pairing, then your goal is to write it so well, that the person leaves your story saying: "Wow! That pairing isn't so bad" or they don't even think about pairings and instead about the story. Make it leave your reader with something.
I write to leave an impact on everyone. This means I don't write to appeal to a part of the fanbase, rather I want to write stories that appeal to everyone who loves Sonic. I know some don't dig romance, but I've got my latest story, Sonic: After the Fact for that! Oh and SAtF is something I love writing by the way; it's just so much fun! Look forward to some of my whacky ideas. :P
So I'll eventually write more here, but that's all for now! I hope you enjoyed my random little rants (or big rants), and I hope you enjoy my stories! If you don't, that's fine too! Just tell me what I need to fix. ;)
Oh, and don't judge me based on anything written in 2010...I left them up because I wanted to show my improvement from then to now. I pulled an OOC Sally typical of a SonAmy fan in my worst story so uh...yeah...
