I've been reading fanfic on here for so many damn years, I may as well finally put together some sort of profile. Older, wiser yet still feeling younger and tempted by one Edward Cullen as written in some of my fave fics. Started on the Twilight journey in such an innocent, naive way--as opposed to pretty much everything else about me. My eldest daughter (middle school at the time) loved this series called Twilight. I surprised her by buying tickets to a local Stephenie Meyer book signing/talk/event for her and best friend. Daughter's bf had to back out at the last minute, so mom stepped in... ...Along with over 800 other young girls and their moms wearing "Team Edward", "Team Jacob", etc. tee shirts. This is how clueless I was: "who's Carlisle/Jacob, etc" honey?" And to a tween girl in front of us in the never ending line to enter, who happened to be wearing a Bella bracelet: "oh my goodness, that's our cat's name." All to my daughter's horror and shame. Once inside, my daughter began to devour the new book-Eclipse. Since we had her friend's book as well, I started to read it, only to be admonished that I COULDN'T because it was a SERIES and I had to read the first book. Emphasis on words all hers. After waiting hours (Our numbers were 845 and 846) we finally left with our signed books, a happy daughter and a mom who was thoroughly impressed by this Stephenie Meyer person. Next day, I borrowed my daughter's Twilight book. 2 days later: New Moon. ~~~and folks, fleur de Lisa was off and running with Twilight fever. Fast forward to today, where I still voraciously read fabulous twific...I am snobby, not gonna lie. If it ain't good, I'm not gonna read it. One thing I've changed about myself? I review a bit now. Lurked and lurked for years. But realized that the gift of good storytelling needs to be rewarded by at least a review. I'd willingly pay to read some of the awesome stories I've been lucky enough to read here through the years. Still astounded at the talent and never ending ideas these fantastic authors come up with to keep the Twilight love alive. So, to all you authors who so generously give your time and talent: I can't thank you enough. You've made my world brighter, and helped me put off many real life things to read your stories! |
