Author has written 5 stories for Voltron, and Doctor Who.
A little bit about me:
I loved Voltron as a kid. My brother and I watched it every single day when we got home from school. We were absolutely transfixed in front of the television for half an hour each day. Then, of course, we grew up, and for a while, life and all its baggage took priority, as well it should, I suppose. I didn't entirely forget, however; I remember having arguments about the show in college with others who remembered loving it, too, but we were all a little hazy on the details. I had a Lotor fetish, for a while, and no one believed me when I argued that there was, indeed a blue-skinned villain who had a harem of scantily clad young women. No way, they argued- too over the top for a kid's show. It took having children of my own to realize that they simply don't make cartoons like that anymore. Yes, it was violent, but it was also exciting and romantic and full of adventure. It's such a huge universe, and as an aspiring writer, it has so many possibilities for themes, characters, conflicts, magic, madness, and love.
I am so glad to have re-discovered Voltron as an adult. I've grown more into a Keith fan now, but there's still a place in my heart for Lotor, and even for Lance. It's such a huge place, the Voltron universe, and there's room to play with all kinds of pairings. I'm trying to write stories that that add depth to the characters and their conflicts. My biggest fascination right now is the way the stories have so many parallels to the King Arthur legends. I love the combination of a medieval type world combined with futuristic technology.
Update Sept. 2011:
Wow! It has been forever since I've dropped in! I just really wanted to drop everyone a line and explain that I've been absent from the fandom because I've finally been pursuing original fiction of my own. To my total shock, it met with some success, and so that wound up leaving very little time for fanfics. I can't promise when I'll be back for more, but with a new cartoon in the offering, there have been some interesting developments in the Voltron universe that I want to explore when I have the time.
Followers may notice deletion of a partially completed story- Phoenix and Shadow. I decided to go ahead and pull that one because I just haven't been able to make myself finish it, and leaving a story unfinished is, in my opinion, one of a writer's greatest crimes. That fanfic was supposed to tell the story of Sven and Romelle and their trials in the Pit of Skulls. I just can't make myself write something that dark set in a world I've come to associate with so much happiness. It was only four chapters in, so you're not missing much!
Will I write more fanfics? Absolutely. I'm even thinking of branching out into other worlds. Fringe is a strong possibility. But Voltron will always be closest to my heart. It great to see that the Lionverse is still in such capable hands, with some of the same great writers from back when I first started.
Thanks for everything, D.E.
