Hey Hey party people! Profile update for the win? I think so. It's been a few years since I've been active on this site.. (BOOO!! I know, I know, I'm sorry!) So now I'm 18 and living in an apartment with my boyfriend. I'm going to university, studying Marine Biology. I still love reading, I still love writing, and I still actively participate in both!
The cat you see in my profile picture (Max) unfortunately passed away last year
Now I'm reduced to a fish, his name is Delta, and he's a Betta. Yes that's right, a Betta named Delta. He's pretty great; he made a nest last week so I may have to get him a female Betta soon... but I'll worry about that some other time!
So Christmas is coming up and I'm super excited! My break from Uni starts on the 12th, so hopefully I'll get some more chapters posted in my current fanfictions, and maybe start some new ones! Keep yours eyes open people!
I wish everyone good luck in their writing and their lives, and I hope you enjoy reading my stuff!
Oh, and one more thing because I never know when to shut up :P Check out this little exerpt at the bottom, it's all in italics so it should be fairly obvious. It's the intro to one of the novels I'm writing and I'd love it if you pm-ed me and told me what you think :)
I listen for the sounds they are talking about, but all I hear is singing; a beautiful melancholy drone that echoes through the maze of evergreens like a call to my innermost self.
I’d always been drawn to the woods; I can’t explain why. It’s always been a part of who I am. And now, more so than ever before, I want to run. To pull my hair free of its elastic confinements, kick off my shoes and take off through the trees, feel my bare feet pounding against the soft earth and feel the flimsy pine needles brush my palms as I weave through the firs. The longing is almost magnetic and I am inclined to finally succumb to the urge and let my most primal instincts take me over; throwing me into the glorious unknown of the forests’ boundaries.
My life had other plans for me. Chad calls me over at the last possible instant and I immediately notice that I have somehow wriggled out of my sandals, my fingers tracing the outline of the elastic band around my golden locks.
“Arielle Baby,” Chad coos in my ear, tracing the shell of it with his tongue. “Don’t keep me waiting all night. You know how cranky I get when I haven’t had my evening shag.”
I let out a low sigh and nod. With my confirmation as his reassurance he drops his arms and returns to our tent. I roll my eyes at his eagerness and temporarily wonder why I date him.
I shoot one last sorrow-filled stare at the matinee of trees so as I can remember them in my dreams after Chad has had his way with me. What I see instead of the collage of green startles me into a shock that I have never known.
Staring out at me from the cover of the trees is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen. Crystal green orbs connect with my own; a matrix of color and depth so strong that I can feel their vortex pulling me in, begging me to look beyond the ferocious pretence and discover the beauty of the creature within.
Staring back at me is a wolf.
