Favourite Quote: "On writing, my advice is the same to all. If you want to be a writer, write. Write and write and write. If you stop, start again. Save everything that you write. If you feel blocked, write through it until you feel your creative juices flowing again. Write. Writing is what makes a writer, nothing more and nothing less.
Ignore critics. Critics are a dime a dozen. Anybody can be a critic. Writers are priceless.
Go where the pleasure is in your writing. Go where the pain is. Write the book you would like to read. Write the book you have been trying to find but have not found. But write. And remember, there are no rules for our profession. Ignore rules. Ignore what I say here if it doesn't help you. Do it your own way.
Every writer knows fear and discouragement. Just write. The world is crying for new writing. It is crying for fresh and original voices and new characters and new stories. If you won't write the classics of tomorrow, well, we will not have any. Good luck." Anne Rice
There aren't many things to say about myself in some organized sentences...In adition to the "Don't think, just fill in the blanks." above, I am here to practice my writing. I mainly write in Romanian but my wish is to publish something in english and because I don't trust the translators nowadays I came here for a bit of training.
I hope that you honestly like my stories and that my sensibility is not the kind that makes you laugh. I feel a terible dread when I remember Oscar Wilde's quote - "‘You would need to have a heart of stone not to laugh at the death of Little Nell."(The poor little girl In Dicken's novel, "The Old Curiosity Shop", who's death made grown men sob.) While I did like the novel, I am haunted by Wilde's quote and I keep it in mind everytime I write. I am sure that if I really were a true heart of stone and if I had no inclinations towards dramatics I wouldn't be so desperate to avoid sentimentality. I suspect Wilde, with his charming sarcasm, suffered from the same disease.
Maybe one day I will have the confidence to open my own Curiosities Shop. Untill then enjoy my sneering self and don't hate me...too much.
In keeping with my update I will leave a quote from "The Picture of Dorian Grey". You want to sit and think?...Well, thing again...;)
"Intellect is in itself an exaggeration, and destroys the harmony of any face. The moment one sits down to think, one becomes all nose, or all forehead, or something horrid.” Oscar Wilde, “The Picture of Dorian Grey”
